Joe Boyd did an amazing job of putting together the Oldies Dance Party on May 6 in support of the Wounded Warriors Project!  After all expenses were taken care of, Joe was able to send check to his favorite charity in the amount of  $4700.00!

Here I am with Joe Boyd, Joe Fitzgerald our Disc Jockey, and Peter O'Neill.

Congratulations, Joe for a job well done!!

That looked awesome! Two door 57 chevy [Shaker] post sedan was always my favorite. I almost bought one that had a small block 327 with fuel injection. My problem was that I was broke, or living from week to week. Whats the difference, as they say same same. I look at the pictures that were posted and look at all of you ladies, you never change, still beautiful. I often wonder about my wife of fifty plus years. she is still beautful and like you girls was popular in her class back in Pittsburgh. I often wonder what she ever saw in me, but I was blessed and feel that the good lord above intervened in my life and gave me an angel to keep me straight. Oh I did have some qualities but at the same time some very destructive ways. Not so much in terms of loyalty as I married above my grade and was happy with that, but I am a get even guy so I stayed below the radar. I am just being truthful here, especially today in this goofy world. I know that each of you know exactly what I mean. you just never know what I may post...just the truth, besides at this age does it really matter. Oh, hell yes it does! Truth today is all we have left, everything else has let us down. So we have yesterdays memories to keep us hopeful for tomorrows gifts. Indeed, it is only hope that is left, and in that end a true gift. Just the truth!

Joe, thanks so much for organizing a fun event for a most worthy cause. Sorry I missed it but I thoroughly enjoyed the photos that Tom posted. I even recognized most!

Hope everyone has a great summer and can post any future get togethers of our classmates.

The North Quincy High School Class of '64 Golf Team participated again in this year's annual North Quincy High Scool Football Alumni Sholarship Fund golf tournament.  Unfortunately, Bill Curran couldn't make it this year but I've included him in this picture he is a vital member of this elite golf team.

This photo is, of course, from a previous outing because the photos of this year's tournament are not available yet, but will be posted as soon as available.

This year's event was a huge success!  The after-golf luncheon packed 130 of our fellow Red Raiders of all ages into a dining area for a lot of great banter and memories.  The honoree for 2022 was Dr. Allan Yacubian (Yakoo!!), a very worthy recipient!  We should all be as generous as this man.

A full agenda included the presentation of scholarships to two very deserving NQHS students, Matt Craig and Teresa Sheedy. The goal of this group is to keep increasing the dollar amount of scholarship money each year; this year it amounted to almost $4000!

Looking forward to doing it again next year! (Although we are quickly reaching the pinnacle of "senior alum"!!

Well, here we are still in Florida two months over our normal time to head north.  My husband ruptured his heel cord, so he was put in a cast for several weeks, now he’s in a boot.  Has only been able to walk on that foot a little for about a week.  Hoping the orthopedic surgeon (which we see in two weeks) will give him a clearance to walk on that foot.

(He tore his Achilles tendon about 35 years ago while we were playing racquet ball.)  Some medicine was prescribed months ago for some illness.  He (who always reads, and reminds me to read) the warnings.  Of course, this time he didn’t, and one of the effects of the medicine (which we're told is rare), is weakening of heel cords.   ALWAYS READ THE SIDE EFFECTS!

We decided to stay here for his therapy, because getting all our moveable objects in a safe place (in case of hurricanes) and trying to get home seemed too hard to manage.  And we’re on one floor here versus 14 carpeted steps back in Quincy,

We already had a horrendous storm with high winds.  The wind whipped one of the blades out of a fan on our lanai and smashed a window.

Anyway, it’s beautiful here (if you like 100 degree temps and 90 percent humidity).  And, it does not cool down at night.  Thank goodness for a/c.  The clouds here are absolutely amazing.  And they build until late afternoon thunderstorms.  The lighting shows are crazy.

Most of the community (snowbirds) headed out in April.  And many of the full-time residents headed out to visit family or friends.  So it’s very eerie being here with almost no one around.

Disappointed we won’t see the Squantum parade this year, or the fireworks over Boston.  Tampa’s having a huge display, but it’s too far away to see them.  There are fireworks tents on every corner, so I’m sure we’ll see fireworks anyway.

Of course, I didn’t bring my word docs for the website down.  (I keep May to September on my pc in Quincy.)

As they (whoever they are) say, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it!  Happy 4th everyone!

Thanks for all your kind words and thoughts.  Dave is doing just fine, and seems to be almost all recovered.  It's been hard of him; he was exasperated he couldn't do much.  Decided not to wait until the doctor clears him, and made plans to head home near the end of the month.  And you're right, Don, things could be worse.  So many people we know have been struggling with much more difficult issues.  What we were going through was minor in comparison. The main reason behind my post was to start a dialogue among class mates, and find out what's going on in their lives.  So, how's things?

I am late to the party. Trouble with passwords and such. So glad that all is well enough, Diane, that you can head north soon. As someone said, old age is not for the faint of heart.

Diane

This is very good news. I am happy Dave is on the road to recovery and you will be heading north soon. Don is right it could be worse. Last summer I was on myway to a Red Sox -Braves game and out of nowhere I had a heart attack. I am feeling very good now after a triple By-pass, I have resumed traveling again and just returned from a Safari in South Africa, This winter it will a trip to my last continent, Antartica. My advise to my classmates is to enjoy life and work diligently to complete your bucket list. At our age you never know what the future holds.

Frank.
