Started Investment Advisory firm in 1996 and quit Insurance business in 2000 and moved to Williamsburg VA where the business is still active. My current (and last) wife & I have traveled extensively in Europe. We have visited many times and have been to Italy, France, Germany (picked up two cars), Belgium, Holland,Russia, Hungry, UK,as well as Lebanon, Spain, Portugal, Yugoslavia, Greece and both parts of Ireland. My first wife was from Belfast N. Ireland where we met and married.
We are taking a cruise this year from Barcelona to Venice. Spending 5 days in Madrid prior to the cruise and looking forward to the Prado and Thyssen museums.
We are going on a European cruise in October of this year.
Getting ready to cruise again in Europe and N Africa. We are reducing cruises to two a year, however there are three this year....
Moving us to date we are taking 2 European cruises this year 2019.
There is no real story, I was a loner and did not work as hard as I should have, but seemed to have retained more than I believed I had. I was a voracious reader in high school, but never told anyone I did so. The crowd I hung out with would have rejected me if they had known I was a book worm.
I spent 8 years in the Navy and was a computer tech. Knew APL, Basic and machine language. When I got out of the Navy, I went to work for Scope incorporated in Reston VA. They were and Electronics Counter-counter measure manufacturing company. When they went into Section 8 bankruptcy, I went to work for an insurance company in Norfolk. Strange career. Sold financial products for 2.5 years. Then for the next 2.5 years I was a sales manager in Norfolk. Then out to San Francisco for 2.5 years running sales offices in the Bay area. Once again, I was located to Fort Wayne Indiana as a VP for Lincoln National. More another day. I just couldn't keep a job...
After the aforementioned times: I got fired it Fort Wayne, but got a huge severance and am still receiving substantial payments from the company.

Actually, I am still working (My own company). Married 30 years to my second wife and we travel to Europe at least twice a year. My children are grown (2 in Chicago and 3 in the San Francisco Bay area. We leave for California in three weeks to visit our clients. When we return to Virginia, we have two more cruises this year in California. Still paying alimony to my first wife and the alimony has been paid for more than 30 years. I am very fortunate that her $20k+ does not impact my current life style.

Just returned from a 23 days trip to Europe. It comprised a cruise for 13 days and stops in Madrid for 4 days in Museums. This was followed a couple of days in Museums in Barcelona. Ship was in Spain, France, Greece, Croatia and ended in Venice.
This was my first cruise in many years and previous cruises were on big gray ships with big gray guns on them. We spent several extra days in Venetian Museums. Wonderful trip and there was much to learn. Pompeii was simply amazing and a tour guide in Bosnia that took us to many of the sites that were destroyed in their war.
