I attended Western Carolina University and graduated with a BS in Nursing. I have spent my entire career until 2007 in the operating room; 15 years at Wake Med and 17 and counting at Duke Raleigh (formerly named Raleigh Community). In 2007, I transferred to an RN computer job for Surgical Services at Duke Raleigh.
Through the Asscociation of Operating Room Nurses, I have been able to travel to some of the large cities in the US. I have really enjoyed seeing other places although I have always lived in Raleigh.
I had a craft business on the side with family and friends for approximately 15 years. We really enjoyed meeting people at craft shows and exchanging ideas. I gave up this hobby about 5 years ago.
Some of you may remember that I fought cancer in the 9th grade. I had Hodgkin's lymphoma which was treated with a maximum dose of radiation (that was all they knew to do at that time). I have done great until 2002. It was that year that the bad health effects of the radiation started showing up. I've had some challenges with bilateral breast cancer, esophagus and lung damage, and open heart surgery for damage done by the radiation. I am doing great even with all these challenges. The Lord has blessed me so much. I am still working although I only work 3 days a week. Even when life is hard, you can see God's faithfulness. My faith grows stronger everyday and I have become a very thankful person. It is a blessing to wake up in the morning.
Thanks to everyone that has worked so hard on the website and the reunion. It was fun talking to former classmates and hearing their stories. Thanks to Charles too for all his hard work with the emails. I have enjoyed talking with you and Vickie.
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13
