Millbrook100

The latest update (see below) on the Millbrook 100 events has the parade of classes at 6:15, and game time is pushed back to 7:30.  All classes except 73 will meet in the gym at 5:00.  Ms. Atlas wrote to Renee about the conflict with our tailgating event "Instead of lining up in the gym with the rest of the classes, and so that you guys can enjoy that 'golden fellowship' as long as possible, we will simply save a space in the line that you all can be inserted into just prior to entering the stadium. We'll forward you exact times to move in that direction as we get closer to the event."

So those who want to be in the parade will only miss a part of the tailgating event.  It is no longer an either/or choice.

The latest info (below) on tickets to the game itself is that you buy them online; they cost $10.  But they are not needed to participate in the Parade of Classes.  Participants will parade on, then parade off.

Millbrook 100 events on Saturday morning do not conflict with any events for Class of 73.

NOTE:  This reference to online tickets seems to be only the GoFan app, confirmed for Android and available to iPhones too.  The dot-com part seems to be a mistake.  The website at gofan.com does not appear to offer tickets for sale, and an inquiry gets a response from a different website.  The Android app GoFan adds a one dollar surcharge to a $10 ticket.  Renée's screenshot of the iPhone GoFan app looks just like the Android version, so it's probably the same.

Subject: Wildcat Nation! ARE YOU READY!
Good evening Wildcats!
Since there were no updates sent out last week, we wanted to make SURE this week we stoked the fires so that you can get just as excited as we are! Attached you will find a rough itinerary of the Centennial Celebration Weekend's activities and, keep in mind, although this may be tweaked as things are added or modified, what you see here is solid and can be publicized on your social media networks. Also, as you're posting in the days leading up to the event, during the event, and beyond, we will be using the following hashtag:
#Millbrook100
So what are the updates? I'M GLAD YOU ASKED!!!
1. The Homecoming game has officially been pushed back to 7:30PM in order to make room for the Centennial Pre-Game celebration. Since we know this homecoming game will draw a significantly larger crowd, in addition to the school parking lot areas, we will be directing people to the bus parking lot behind the school and will also be looking into additional parking with adjacent community partners (stay tuned). We will be having an alumni parade into the stadium at 6:15 and this is what we need from you.
- For classes who would like to be in the parade you need to A) notify me, B) acquire a banner, signage, etc. that you want to walk in with, and C) create a BRIEF script for your class to be read over the loudspeaker as you are entering (see attachment for guidelines). Classes will gather in the gym at 5PM to line up prior to the game. Details for ticket purchase and distribution will be communicated at a later date.
2. During the pre-game celebration we also want to recognize as many past homecoming queens as we can. The queens will walk in with their respective classes but after entering the stadium will line up across the sideline for their names to be called and to be celebrated. If you haven't done so already, please email me and let me know if you are a former queen and would like to participate in this special moment (BIG thanks to Valorie Lovingood c/o 69 for already reaching out!). Get the word out Wildcats and let's find our queens!
3. Finally, many have asked, "How may I help?" and we have an answer for this as well. During the Saturday assembly to celebrate our heritage and legacy, a special dedication will be made in memory of, and to honor, Ms. Dana King, our beloved former principal who passed away last year. This gift will be given on behalf of every Wildcat who has ever graced the halls of Millbrook and we are asking for all who can to make a donation using the following link:
https://millbrookmagneths.
Any monies left over will go directly to the Millbrook Magnet School PTSA which supports our current students. Thank you in advance for giving and, as always, if you have any questions or suggestions, please let me know.
P.S. Don't forget we have rooms blocked at the Fairfield Inn & Suites and Courtyard Raleigh (both at Crabtree) and the link below can be used for online booking.

Good evening Wildcats!
Just so you all know, I plan to TRY and send info and updates every Sunday so that any comments, questions, and suggestions can be presented to the Millbrook administration during the week with the hopes of having responses on the next Sunday. Also, there have been inquiries as to whether we would be having another Zoom meeting and unfortunately due to the fact that we are less than two months from this amazing event, it is best that we take what we have and just expand on those ideas. This does not mean that if you have suggestions that they will not be considered so, by all means, keep the ideas coming.
There will be two things we will be presenting that weekend according to decades: 1) A pre-game parade where we will have alumni march around the track according to their decades (more information to come) and, 2) An archive and heritage tour where each decade will be designated an area of the school to decorate with their artifacts and memorabilia. If there is anyone who would like to take the lead for their decade, let me know and I can funnel those who would like to assist in your direction.
Because there are a few new people on this email thread, I am once again attaching the flyer. I was asked if there is a larger version and, unfortunately, there is not, which I am sure is not the best for those who may have vision challenges. However, because it's the information that's most important, just keep in mind:
- Friday, September 22nd there are pre-game festivities, a walking parade of the decades as well as former homecoming queens, honorary captains have been identified for the coin toss and we are looking for an alumnus to sing the National Anthem (don't be shy).
- Saturday, September 23rd beginning at 9AM, the doors of the school will be opened for a Living Out Our Legacy Centennial Celebration which will include a dedication of a special gift from the alumni (more info to come), an assembly with a panel discussion, and tours and other activities.
Some have asked if the school song will be sung and/or if there will be alumni members of the chorus to present it. The school song will be sung at the Saturday assembly. One of the current choral programs will present it and the words will be presented in the program so that all alumni can join in singing as well.

Finally, the preferred vendor for Millbrook paraphernalia, Mindy McGinnis, has provided a website for those who would like to pre-order a t-shirt for the weekend's festivities. The deadline for online orders is August 17th and she will be at Millbrook to distribute them on Wednesday, September 20th. She will also be available for distribution and onsite sales before the homecoming game as well as the Saturday celebration.
The website is https://mhshc23.itemorder.com/
Have a great week and, please, reach out to me if you have any questions.
