Over the years, my professional journey has gone from being a small animal veterinarian (15 years) to co-founding Life On Purpose Institute with my wife, 20 years. During that time I've also been a professional writer (over 350 magazine articles published) and now my focus is on writing mostly speculative fiction (science fiction and fantasy) for young people as W. Bradford Swift and for adults as Orrin Jason Bradford. Check out my current selection on Amazon at: Author.to/wbswift

UPDATE: I've added a video to my profile in case anyone is wondering what it's like to be an author in his 60s.

Happy birthday, Glenn. I hope you are doing well and enjoying your special day. I was sharing with a friend of mine recently how we met. I think it was in Ms. Neagle Geometry class with you as Smith sitting in front of me, Swift. At least that's how I remember it. Take care! Brad

Calling all grandparents with grandkids between 8-16. As most of you know by now, after I sold my veterinary clinic in the late 80s I turned to my second career dream as a writer. Now, some thirty-plus years later I'm pleased to report that I'm working on my 29th book, many of them written for kids. It's my way to inspire young people to become joyful lifelong readers like my neighbor, Mrs. Crabtree, did for me the summer of '59. Since the Pandemic hit, my audiobook narrator and I have been conducting Zoom-based "Readups" for kids and their parents (or grandparents). So, if you know anyone with kids or grandkids between 8-16 who would enjoy a fun and free way to enjoy one of my Zak Bates Eco-adventure series books, please share the information below with them. I much appreciate it. And if you have any questions about the Readups, feel free to reach out to me at brad@wbradfordswift.com. Happy Friday!

The Zak Bates Eco-adventure Readup on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2021, from 12 noon to 1 PM ET (9-10 AM PAC)You can get a quick recap of the story and then register for the Readup at www.wbradfordswift.com/readup  There you will also find several coloring pages that can be downloaded, printed, and colored either before the Readup or during and yes, by Bigs and Littles alike. This is also Bring Your Pet Day. If the pet is small enough to sit in your lap, great. If not, bring a picture of the pet to share. You can also watch this brief recap of the story so far: https://youtu.be/8zA3El2DvKQ  Register today at www.wbradfordswift.com/readup

Happy birthday, Sonny, a week ahead so I don't forget this year. Go ahead and start celebrating. At our age, we don't need an excuse to celebrate life.

Happy birthday Glenn. Have a great day

As many of you may know, after I sold my veterinary practice in the late 80s, I turned to a combo career as a life coach and writer, but my love for animals never diminished which is one of the reasons I started writing the Zak Bates Eco-adventure series for kids, young adults and animal lovers of all ages. (I'm now at work on book #4 with the working title Junkyard Dogs).

When the pandemic hit I decided to reach out to as many young people and their parents as I could with the intention being to inspire young people to become lifelong readers. I started the Zak Bates Eco-adventure Readup series via Zoom. Each month I and my audiobook narrator meet with kids and their parents (or in some cases grandparents) for a fun hour as we read book one of the series, Dominion Over All.

I'm sharing this here in case any of you have kids (or more than likely grandkids) between roughly the ages of 8 - 15 and would like to join one of these Readups. All the info including how to register for these free events is online at: https://wbradfordswift.com/Readup

I'm in Raleigh playing in the NC State Senior Games Softball tournament in Cary this weekend. (Won both our game today). Was shocked and pleased to turn on the TV and see Enloe playing Broughton in Enloe's homecoming. Wow! Go Enloe...Beat Broughton!
Playing in the finals for the 65+ division starting at 9 am at Thoms Brooks Park in Cary.

Hey, Sonny boy. Happy birthday. What are you going to do special to celebrate this special day?

Jan 06, 2018 at 9:44 AM

Hello Fellow Classmates,
Most of you will not find what I'm about to share of interest, and I won't be hurt if you don't read to the bottom. But if you enjoy reading, especially if you enjoy science fiction, or your just curious what my third and last career as an indie author is like, read on. Otherwise, please excuse this group message since I couldn't figure out how to send this to individuals. Here's the thing.

I'm having a PARTY & not just any party. It’s a BOOK LAUNCH PARTY

I am having a very special party and I want you to be a part of it. I am launching my new book, FreeForm: Mission Resumed. This book is deserving of a party because FreeForm: Mission Resumed is the last book of a HUGE book project I've been working on for the past two years which was to merge two techno-thriller trilogies together into one mega-six book series: The Saga of the Dandelion Expansion. FreeForm: Mission Resumed is the last book of The Saga of the Dandelion Expansion. I would love to have you celebrate the launch with me.

You see, I view this last book as the keystone that will tie all the other books together (see attached image) so I wanted to do something really special to bring this book and the whole series to life and into the world. I will be announcing it to the world through a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign and with you.

If you are unfamiliar with Kickstarter crowdfunding then let me explain. It is a way for people to support writers, songwriters, artists, and others in their dreams and endeavors in exchange for some nifty rewards. I am using Kickstarter crowdfunding as one way to support and make this dream of mine come true. Whether you choose to participate as a backer or not is up to you.

No, You Don't Need to Live in Flat Rock to Party with Me!

The plan is to host a live launch party here in my home on January 8th. But I realize not all my loyal readers and friends can be there for that party so I'm going to have a second ONLINE PARTY later that day, so:

Mark Your Calendar for MONDAY, JANUARY 8, @ 7 PM EASTERN. Come share some 'cyber-champagne' with me!

I would love for you to come and be a part of this exciting event with me on Kickstarter Live at: http://bit.ly/FreeFormKS .

P.S. The link isn't live yet but will get you to the online party on Monday evening a little before 7 pm eastern. If you can't make that time, you can still check out the Kickstarter campaign at this URL after 3 pm on Monday:

Hey Bro, Happy belated Birthday. Hope you had a great day. I'm curious is you ever read SF or fantasy and if so, do you happen to ever read ebooks. If so, I'd like to send you one of my books -- your choice. You can take a look at them here: Author.to/wbswift. And if not, that's fine as well. Just wanted you to know I'm thinking about my old friend.
