Debra Joan Nefler, of Kearney, Nebraska, formerly of Sioux Falls and Rapid City, S.D., died Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016, in Kearney.  She was 55 years old.

Services were held at the O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney.

She was born Dec. 20, 1960, in Boise, Idaho, to James and Saundra (Schulte) Covington.  Debra graduated from high school in May 1979 as a member of the great Rapid City Central High School Cobblers Class of '79.

On Sept. 19, 1981, she married David E. Nefler in Denver.

Survivors include her husband; daughter, Hope Edmunds of Kearney; son, Brandon of Sioux Falls; her mother, Saundra Covington of Monticello, Iowa; brothers, Michael Covington and Preston Covington, both of Monticello; and five grandchildren.
