Patrick Wayne King

April 27, 1961 - September 22, 2007

1979 Cobbler Pat King passed away in his sleep on Saturday, September 22, 2007, at his home in Rapid City.  He was 46.

Pat was born on April 27, 1961, to Harold (Gene) King and Henrietta O'Rourke in Pine Ridge, SD. Pat was raised in Rapid City where he was a strong athlete in numerous sports. He loved playing softball and basketball, and watching football and baseball games. Pat was an all-around good guy. He was always caring for his nieces and nephews. He was deeply loved by all who knew him. Pat was awarded for being a good role model while attending North Junior High, and in 1981 was named "Boy of the Year" at the Rapid City Boy's Club.

Pat played with numerous softball teams throughout the years where he played with some of his closest friends. Pat had a heart of gold; he would give you the shirt off his back. He was always helping others find solutions to their problems.

Pat is survived by his mother, Henrietta King, Rapid City; twelve sisters and brothers: Adele Davis, Flandreau, SD; Leonard (Sandee) Long, Rapid City; Victoria Peres, Flandreau; Cecil (Peggy) Long, Flandreau; Patricia Cook, Phoenix, AZ; Lorrie King, Rapid City; Mike Long, Flandreau; Robert (Tammy) Rosales, Black Hawk; Steven Long, Hampton, VA; Louis Long, Rapid City; Robert Long, Rapid City; and Dee Shane (Pete) Long-Cortinas, Geneva, NE.  Pat is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends - too numerous to mention.

Pat was preceded in death by his father, his paternal and maternal grandparents, and one brother. Pat's services were held at the Mother Butler Center in Rapid City, SD, on Friday, Sept. 28, 2007. Burial followed at Pine Lawn Memorial Park in Rapid City.
