Lexington, Kentucky -- Citiscape
With its abundance of government and technology jobs, Lexington has one of the nation's most stable economies. Lexington has been described as having "a fortified economy, strong in manufacturing, technology and entrepreneurial support, benefiting from a diverse, balanced business base".
Pam is a great example of 'diversity' -- She is an entrepreneur, she owns a limousine service; has a career working outside her business; loves ball room dancing; involved in her grandchildren's lifes and has several black belts...here is 'her' story:
'My 2 sons have been driving Limousines for many years, they owned a service in Los Angeles many years ago. My oldest son once chauffered Donald Trump and his guests in Palm Beach, Florida. They then moved to Lexington to be closer to family.
When a friend in Lexington, owner of a popular restaurant, decided to give up their courtesy limousine service we jumped at the opportunity. I have owned this service since January 2011. We grew to 3 cars, and then branched out to Sarasota, Florida.
We are known as Lexington Limo (Lexington, Kentucky) and Fast Eddie's Sarasota Limos (Sarasota, Florida) aka the "$1. a minute limo" as we charge $1. per minute.'
'Since I do not drive the stretch limos, I maintain full time employment in Quality Assurance Technical Writing. It keeps my brain young and active. After many years in accounting, I returned to college, attending Fugazzi College in Lexington, Kentucky and obtained a degree in Computer Programming. I went to work at IBM, and then on to Lexmark. When Lexmark outsourced our department, I accepted a position with a Lockhead Martin Company and am now working for a Quality Assurance consulting firm based in Chicago.'

Regular physical activity is one of the most important things older adults can do for their health.
Physical activity can prevent many of the health problems that may come with age.
'My interests include Karate, I am a 2nd degree black belt in Japanese Shotokan and a 1st degree black belt in TaeKwonDo and I also enjoy genealogy, ballroom dancing, traveling, kayaking, and bowling.'
Karate
Japanese Shotokan is considered a traditional and influential form of karate.
Taekwondo is a Korean martial art. It combines combat and self-defense techniques with sport and exercise.
Black belts begin at first degree and advance to second, third, and so on.
To advance from one rank to the next, students typically complete promotion tests in which they demonstrate their proficiency in the various aspects of the art before their teacher or a panel of judges.
Ballroom Dancing
'Dancing is something I always wanted to learn, one day I was driving by an Arthur Murray studio and simply talked myself into going in and checking it out. That was a little more than 6 years ago. Dancing is an amazing experience. I still go dancing but am currently taking a break from lessons.'

Ballroom dance is a set of partner dances, which are enjoyed both socially and competitively around the world, and growing all the more popular in North America.
In competition ballroom, dancers are judged by diverse criteria such as poise, the hold or frame, posture, musicality and expression, timing, body alignment and shape, floor craft, foot and leg action, and presentation.
Ballroom/Smooth dances are normally danced to Western music. In competitions, competitors are costumed as would be appropriate for a white tie affair, with full gowns for the ladies and bow tie and tail coats for the men. Latin/Rhythm dances are commonly danced to contemporary Latin American music and (in case of Jive) Western music. In competitions, the women are often dressed in short-skirted latin outfits while the men are outfitted in tight-fitting shirts and pants, the goal being to emphasize the dancers' leg action and body movements.
Kayaking
Pam Ward Kayaking!
Kayaking is the use of a kayak for moving across water. It is distinguished from canoeing by the sitting position of the paddler and the number of blades on the paddle. A kayak is defined by the International Canoe Federation as a boat where the paddler faces forward, legs in front, using a double-bladed paddle. Most kayaks have closed decks, although sit-on-top and inflatable kayaks are growing in popularity as well.

Something 'special' ... Heartwarming story from her son and their limo service:
"New years eve, for the last 3yrs in a row the same lady booked with us. Since her elderly husband passed away, she has kept the tradition of getting all dressed up and get a limousine all night. We would cebrate the new year in style, then quickly drove out to browns mill rd and park the limousine on a little bridge over a creek, then turned off the car, all the power is off, and sit in complete silence for about 2hours, as she drinks 1 glass of champagne. Enjoying the quiet country night. Listening to nature, birds, water, wind....i havent heard from her yet this year,, assuming she is ok,, holding her reservation for her as she would expect from me"
