Veva R. Rockafellow - Stewart

Funeral services for Veva R. Stewart, 95, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 1996, at the Reliance United Methodist Church. Veva died Wednesday, March 20, at the Mid Dakota Hospital, Chamberlain. 

Veva was born September 15, 1900, to Isaac V. and Lillian (Bartholow) Rockafellow at Spencer. 

She attended country school in the Reliance area through the eighth grade and in 1922 was in the first class to graduate from the Reliance High School under the four-year curriculum. She attended Dakota Wesleyan College, Mitchell. She received her teaching certificate and later taught at the Cooper school in 1923. 

On June 12, 1924, she married Robert Waldo Stewart at Reliance. They moved to a farm seven miles south of Reliance and raised their family there. 

Survivors include three sons: Carrol and Robert, Reliance, and Lyle, Johnson, Nebraska; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. 

Preceding her in death were her husband, a son, two sisters and a brother. Burial was in the Reliance Cemetery with Wevik Funeral Home, Chamberlain, in charge of arrangements.
