Myrna Schelske Hale

I attended South Dakota State College in
Brookings for 1 yr. then married Lyle Stewart. We had 3 children--moved to NE. in 1967. I was a stay at home Mom until 1971. At that time, I went to work at a Ben Franklin store and got a taste of sales..That led to a variety of jobs: direct sales, managed a motel dining room, radio sales, retail sales, owned my own business for 7 yrs., then did gift sales work for a Kansas City showroom, worked for J.C. Penny's and then went to work at the school district here. Billy and I have been married for 25 yrs. I just retired from the school district after 13 yrs. I am involved in many community activities, serving as Coordinator and Sec. for our fall Festival for the past 5 yrs. and after serving 8 yrs in the late 90's, have been appointed to my second term on the Library Board. We take care of Jeremy 3 afternoons a week after school. We have been his caregiver's since his Mom went back to work after he was born in 2000. He was born with a heart defect that will lead to a heart transplant in the future..The Dr.'s are saying ," Just let Jeremy's body tell us when.."

The day we decided to discover what the theme for our Senior Prom was...I will never forget that all of us were a part of this..All Mr. Cullen said was," I hope you did not use my keys!" And we could honestly say that we had not. Of course, my Mom was not very happy with any of us, either..but we did graduate even though Mrs. Anderson thought we should not..Oh, my!! Weren't we full of the devil!!

Since my family has changed-grown- and our bases have changed, not very often..especially since Mom and Dad are gone..We try to see Harlan and Lorna and their families and Judy's family as often as we can.

I really like our local area--otherwise, I like visiting Billy's family in Mo. and IA. We do not go very far..the fartherest I have gone is to Europe in 2002 with friends..and we just went to Disney World with Jeremy for his Make-A-Wish this March.

South Dakota and Nebraska

I work with my committees with the organizations I am involved in--I read many different authors--History, Autobiographies, Fiction and Non-Fiction..Love my flowers and decorating both inside and outside. We spend as much time as we can with Zac and Jeremy--observing how each has really become their own person--Zac is Jeremy's idol!! Of, course, Jeremy says that I have to buy PaPa a WII, so that he gets in practice to compete with him..As if that will come to be!!
