Virgil L Baldwin was known as Lonnie. He was born in St Johns, Arizona and grew up in Holbrook, Arizona. Lonnie had a full military career, he served 26 years in the Air Force and retired as Colonel at McGuire AFB in 1988. In the beginning of his career, he served a tour in the Vietnam War. He was also stationed at Scott AFB from 1972- 1974 as chief CBPO at 375th ABG. Lonnie and his family spent the majority of his career overseas including an assignment to Wiesbaden, Germany 1969-1971, Rhein Main 1978-1980 and after that he served at the NATO Headquarters, Belgium. Later in life, Lonnie and Marilynn settled in Central Point, Oregon where Lonnie finally learned to enjoy the slower pace of gardening and fishing in nearby lakes with his boat.
