I should have said posterior or derrier but I still don't know how to spell that one. I was just reading about John Meehan, John Lott and Franny Willis' escapades at UF. Wow, I didn't know we had such subversives in our class! Sounds like a fun time. Chip, I have picked peas but have never plucked chickens. However; I love that expression and am having visions of Tennessee Ernie Ford.

05/20/09 12:06 PM #187     Steve McLaughlin Not so fast my friend. That's not quite the entire story re the vending machine incident! As I remember, there was a phone call placed back to those of us who were already sleeping. The call was "to get to the campus police station" because a certain unnamed individual was being detained. Once we showed up, we were entertained by the stylings of the master of one-liners(that would be John),who kept asking the officer if he would take his bullet out of his pocket so he, John, could take a look at it. John also asked the officer what Aunt Bea was making for breakfast and, well, you get the general idea of where the conversation headed from there. This was 2 am or later, and for some strange reason, the U of Florida police didn't find John's comedic musings as funny as the rest of us did. The remainder of the story is fairly accurate as far as I know. It did make Paul Harvey!

We saw him recently and he looked great.. so all you past football and track people who played under him - look for him on Friday.. It has been said that the "high school" coach is one of the biggest influences on a young man's life. If this is true- I am sure he would enjoy hearing from you. I am not going into my swimming coach.... that is another story.. ha

It could be an Friday afternoon craft project. I know how the guys will like to join in. Seriously- we can set up next to the bar.. and get....inspired..

We're leaving first thing in the morning, & are scrambling...We were laughing out loud at the blogs, which were quite a few in one day...I was a quiet mouse, & started creating waves later, but it is so good to know that we must be a special class...alot of people did the same thing! It's so nice to get to know you again before we get there...what a great idea this was, Donna! Don't let this site go away when this is over! We're only just getting to know each other again (or for the first time)! John, you did it again w/ "head" nurse.... I love that you can't keep your humor shut! I will try to keep in touch during our trip...y'all are addicting! See you soon!

I just can't believe I have lived this long when I remember some of the incredibly stupid things I did. However, it did make me a very insightful parent in that my boys did not get away with as much as they thought they did. Take care!

Remember when we took (stole) your mother's car to Dunkin Donuts in the middle of the night? How about our run in with 5 Flags Vodka? I couldn't drink vodka for the next twenty years. You Mom was so cool, she grounded us but didn't tell my Dad who would have killed me. Come to think of it I'm still a fool girl who just wants to have fun. Unfortunately, now I'm an "old" girl.

I accept the "bite me" in the manner in which it was given. I'm loking forward to coming home again. I really enjoy reading about all of the blessings we have accrued over the years in our children, marriages, relationships, etc. See you in a week or so. Steve

05/25/09 07:45 PM #207     Donna Day (Bailey) Hey Ron - Just thinkin about you when my son and friends brought some gator and frog legs for me to cook for them.. Nice..I marinated the gator in papaya then skewered it with bacon and grilled it with vegetables. The frog legs I fried dipped in pancake batter.. I am a hero for the next hour or two.. till they are hungry again. Love to cook the gator...seeing how I am a Hurricane mom by two sons.

05/26/09 07:30 AM #208     William "Chip" Madsen Donna, Ron?!?!? He can't cook. I love cooking and we talked about different recipes growing up including frog legs. I always kept it simple with just an egg bath, salt pepper and lightly floured and then fried. We also had armadillo when camping. Just clean the critter and chop off the extremeties (head tail, legs) and put him shell-side down on a bed of coals. Tastes like gamey pork. Anyway, I never thought of gator cubes and bacon grilled. Nice.

But your right, Chip, Doll is a trash cooker.... not that I don't know how, but just enough to get by... kinda like how I dance! You certain about that diller cook off you did in the day? Well, Donna, so glad to know you & the guys enjoyed eatin that Gator tail (I'm sure it was fully state permitted when shot!),..... Oh, and happy to hear you were thinkin bout my #1 Florida Gators while doin so! Ya know Donna girl, those Gators in them there swamps due west of you has been der a long, long time and so far there ain't no Hurricane ever to git rid of em! Doll
