I can't remember, but I think it might have been Merc Bond. Hell, Most of the time I can't remember what I did yesterday. It may have been Carol Gough. She was always good for things like that. Oh well, after being in politics during the 90s, I've been called so many things that Sugar Bear is probably one of the better names I've had. See you soon.

Glad Ron corrected the record about cooking. Ron may be a trash cooker, but I was probably trailer trash. On the other hand, we knew how to cook. By the way, glad to see that Jack had the cohones to post his pix. Speakin' of trash, it looks like a few of the guys still need to grow a pair after all the trash talk.

Jack, what are you doing with such a gorgeous granddaughter? Looks like she got all of Penny's genes.

Steve,

I hear ya about the names. I was on the school board up here in New Jersey. Where do you think Tony Soprano learned his vocabulary? Jersey politics.

Just spoke with Jackie and caught up a bit with him. Man, it's great to hear from everyone and reconnect. I know I say this time and again, but it really seems as though 1969 was yesterday. Except for the occasional lapse in memory-probably good in some cases-I have vivid recollections of all those good days. What a place and time to become an adult. We'll be in on Thursday and I'll call as soon as I get up and going. At my age, that's usually about 4:30 am. I'll see you all next week.

Good Lord, I'm off line for a couple of days and things really degenerate.

I'm now in the state of Florida, I had forgotten how humid it can get down south.

Frog legs and gator and all sorts of people can cook it??? What has happened to these classmates? Possum grits?

Ron, no blackberry, I like to hide out from time to time.

Looking forward to seeing everyone soon!

Heading to Tallahassee in about three hours for a state meeting tomorrow and then Tuesday taking off for Palm Beach County. Let's see, if I go the same route we took when we moved to Florida (Hwy 90, Rte 1, and A1A)in 1966, we should be there sometime Saturday or Sunday. I think progress can often be a good thing. See you mid-week. I hope everyone travels safely.

Hi everyone! Just thought I'd let you know how things are going so far. Left Benson for L.A. on the 21st...9 1/2 hrs, because traffic was kind to us in Phoenix & only a couple of short slowdowns in L.A., which is unheard of. Oh, by the way, we aren't in an RV, I sold that the minute we bought our house. Anyway, picked up Roger & Glenys the next day & drove to Vegas, where we spent a couple of days, then started off for Boulder, CO..a day & 1/2 drive..stayed a couple of days with a friend of ours, & partied our brains out! Lots of fun! Headed from there to Tenn., arrived yesterday at my Mom & Dad's, just west of Nashville. I'm at Cheryl's right now (she lives up the country driveway from Mom & Dad) using her computer, while she & Tim have taken Steven, Roger, & Glenys to Music Row (or whatever it's called) to see where the Grand Ole Opry was, see some honkey-tonks where some of the famous people got their start, & stuff. Cheryl & Tim know alot more about that than I do, & I was happy to turn over the tourist guide to them! I've had some adjusting to do, because Glenys is a photographer & I wasn't stopping enough for pictures, so I have to be better at stopping to smell the roses.
Tomorrow, we head to WPB...we have 4 days to make a 15 hr. drive, so I'll be making amends & trying to be best little tourist that I can be!
See you Thursday!

On bring transplants: Mary Jane I think you are right. We also came to FL in 1961, we were part of the Pratt & Whitney transfer from Hartford. We drove down US 1 - in those days a 2 lane 'highway' w/ all kinds of crazy tourist attractions along the way. It was also the time of the build up to the Cuban missle crisis and we often had to stop and let miles of troops and tanks pass. Altho I was only 10, I remember the miles and miles of them - we would stop for them to pass and then they would pull over and let civilians pass. Somber thing even for a kid. But of course once we got there it was sunshine and palm trees.

Many thanks to Patty and Russ Ruskay for allowing us to have our final meeting at their beautiful home in Jupiter. It is a miracle the agenda actually was covered.

Barbara,

I remember the Cuban Missile Crisis from a different perspective. I remember the A-bomb drills in 6th grade at Palm Beach Gardens Elementary School with us hiding under our incredibly indestructible desks (a lot of good that would have done). I also remember cheering the jets that were flying over our school on their way to Cuba only 90 miles away from Key West. My mom used our hallway to build our bomb shelter. Fascinating in hindsight.

The reunion is just around the corner and I need help with door prizes.. so far we have a weekend in Key Largo and a fishing trip .. It would be nice to have 3 more prizes.. We chose not to have a raffle.. more money, more money.. so if you can can contribute something.. we would really apprecitate it. (Think regifting- whoever gave you that useless gift(to you) won't be at the reunion.) Let me know asap so I can move on to something else.. Donna

Took a little vacation from our message forum, but it has been pretty interesting watching all this previous wit surfacing 40 years later.I talked to Steve Mclaughlin 4or5 weeks ago and told him to get on the forum and get the trash started, but he seemed to think we had moved beyond that, and our memories probably weren't that good, little did he know.Anyway I got this message from the Judge today or maybe I should say "HIS HONOR",tell him what you think.Three days and counting call everybody....

Donna (Samples), actually it was my Grandmothers car and we went egging, not to Dunkin Donuts, tell the truth old girl! I was supposed to be babysitting my brother, it is a wonder he survived! The car broke down too and remember those drunk guys who helped us? Franny was with us too, wasn't she? Did they have Dunkin Donuts back then?

Donna (Day), I will bring some sort of food to the beach party. I plan on being there early too to help you guys. I hope it doesn't rain.

9PM, Jack, hopefully we will remember your arrival at that late time. You remember the class slogan: booze and something and something are fine, we're the class of "69". Come to think of it I can't even remember!? Man, old age sucks!
