Jeanne, that is so great I know how proud you are of him and of all your kids. You did a good job with them. Hope we can get together some day after work. I would love to catch up again.

Congratulations to the Cave Spring Boys Basketball Champions - correct me if I'm wrong - but they are the Division 4 Group AA State Champs with an overtime victory over Brunswick High School 39 to 33, about 15 minutes ago. Sweet!

Kudos to all the players and an especially big "hoop" (pun intended!) goes out to Bob Hicks and Clay Lacy Sr. Clay's son grabbed lots of rebounds and added 4 pts. to the winning effort.

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) Greg Mackey and Mark Overstreet hit five free
throws in the final minute of overtime Saturday to help Cave Spring
edge Brunswick 39-33 in the Group AA boys championship game.
It was the lowest scoring AA title game since the classification
was formed in 1971.
Cave Spring (25-6) also won the state title in 2002. Brunswick
(24-5) was runner-up for the third straight year.
Adam Hager hit a 3-pointer and had a tip-in to give Cave Spring
a 34-31 lead with 2:36 left in overtime. Laedontae Vaughan’s layup
cut the margin to 34-33 with 1:24 remaining, but Overstreet
responded with two free throws and Mackey added three. Cave
Spring’s Joshua Henderson blocked two shots in overtime.
Overstreet led the Knights with 10 points. Henderson, the
tallest player in the tournament at 6-foot-11, had five blocks.
Michael Wynn Jr. and Casey Walker had 11 points for Brunswick.
Wynn scored seven in the first 5:00 as the Bulldogs took an
early 9-2 lead. After pulling to 11-7 after the first quarter, the
Knights took their first lead 14-13 on Overstreet’s 3-pointer with
5:22 left in the half.
The Bulldogs, behind field goals by Walker and Wynn, took a
17-14 lead before the Knights scored the final field goals of the
half, a layup by Henderson and 3-pointer from Hager, and took a
19-17 halftime lead.
After Wynn’s field goal, the Bulldogs went 7:32 without scoring
while the Knights moved to a 24-17 lead. Walker’s baseline jumper
broke the dry spell with 4:37 left in the third quarter
Cave Spring hit a cold spell following Overstreet’s 3-pointer
with 6:57 left. The Knights didn’t score again in the period as the
Bulldogs pulled to 24-23 with a pair of Walker field goals and one
by Wynn.
The Knights’ drought reached 12:37 before Overstreet’s scoop
shot in the lane tied the game at 26. Henderson hit one of two foul
shots with 1:56 left for a 27-26 lead.
Brunswick grabbed the edge following Keith Stradford’s 3 with
1:32 left, and two Henderson foul shots tied the game at 29 with
1:17 left. The Bulldogs finally lost the ball when Wynn slipped and
the Knights forced a held ball with 2.1 seconds left. Hager missed
a 3-pointer at the buzzer.

ADAM HAGER WAS NAMED THE PLAYER OF THE GAME!!

We've lost a classmate, sad news:

Congrats to both Billy and Josh. Other big news.. the new lobby is back open. If you have not seen the update of the outside of the building. Go to the homepage for CSHS and check out the pic in the top right corner. I have not seen the inside yet, but all the reviews I hear from the kids say it looks amazing!!

Everyone please take a moment today to remember the victims from VT. It has been 2 years already. So hard to believe... There was a young man from Cave Spring that was wounded in the shooting. He is doing good now and has found out that he was accepted to vet school!! How awesome for him... Any of us with children away at college will never forget that day, no matter what college your child was at. My son is at Radford and i think we talked about 10 times that day.. Thank heavens for cell phones!

neVer forgeT!!!

I found this in the new 'User Forums' feature that Linda Grubb posted and thought that some of you might be interested. What a personality, or Icon I should say! Some of us might remember Mrs. Bostian even before we recall our Principal's name. She sure knew my name, though: PARKER!!! I SEE YOU. WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN THE PARKING LOT? I am really going to try and make this Celebration for her ...

Last week I got a phone call from Gary Oyler, Class of '79. He had a couple questions about renuions since their 30-year is coming up Labor Day weekend.

It just brings it all back home again how happy and proud I am to have this golden opportunity to catch up with each other through this website: trading e-mails for the first time, catching up for lunch, the friday night ball games, celebrating some birthdays, and for the fortunate ones who could actually make it to the 'Onion.

Many THANKS again to Ms. Betsy Crow who saw this thing all the way through, dotting all the i's and crossing all the t's so we could have so many MORE great memories to cherish once AGAIN!

Perusing the internet this morning I found this CSHS nugget of Wikipedia information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cave_Spring_High_School_(Roanoke,_Virginia)

To think about all of you, the Class of '78 makes me very happy! Love you guys! Thanks again Betsy Crow!

31 years ago today I believe we had just laughed at a bunch of Grady Nutt jokes and were gearing up for a little bit of Pomp & Circumstance just before that cool midnight ride to Myrtle Beach. Walking on the beach with my friends the whole world was in front of us and everything seemed possible! God bless everyone!

Hidden Valley High School's graduation was Tuesday, June 9th at 9:00. What a beautiful ceremony it was and it only lasted at little over an hour! Everything ran so smoothly. My husband, Jeff, and I had a daughter to graduate, Anna Kristine. She graduated with an Advanced Studies Diploma. What proud parents we are! Anna was also on the Varsity Softball team, which were district champs. This is such an exciting time for all graduates and I know there are many proud parents out there. Jeff and I are extremely proud of Anna and wish her the best of everything.
