Bobby,
Thanks for the information on Paul, I had no idea...He was a really nice guy. I remember him from when we were all in High School. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Roanoke County schools start again this coming Monday.. Summer is shorter every year. I think this one was the shortest, only because my last child at home will be a Senior at CS this year. Thinking back on our Senior year... I can only hope that she has the same great time that we all had and that in 30 years she will be able to find as many of her classmates as I have found.
Good Luck to all of you with kids going back...I hope all of you have great years.!!!

Just a "heads-up"

The Cave Spring football Knights are off to a very good start. 4-0.

Josh Woodrum (yes that Woodrum) is playing QB,
and doing very well.

We need lots of community support as the season continues.

Home game this coming Fri night (9-25)

Homecoming weekend was a semi-success! NO parade due to the rain.. but it cleared up in time for the mighty Knights to take the 5th win of the season!! Alleghany had a long ride home after a 19-13 loss to us !!
Next game is Oct 9th AT Salem.. they have no losses as of this week. We would love to see the stands full of your smiling faces!!!!

I was in the NOKE a few weeks ago on business, spent the weekend at the ole homestead and attended the CS/NS game. It's been @27-28 years since I was at the field and some things sure never change except the new press box and the new field house. It was a great game with the Knights winning 10-7 with a field goal at the end..it was deja vu.

Greg, that young man that kicked that field goal is Ethan Hafey. He is a Senior and this is his first year ever playing football.. He is a soccer star and decided.. what the heck.. Why not try football at leat one year.. He is an all around good kid. I am glad to see he has done so well !!!

It is so sad to hear about David Love. I remember his post on how sad he was about not being able to attend the reunion since he was diagnosed with cancer and was beginning treatment. His last post was very positive that he had finished with his treatment and was getting stonger. My prayers go out to his family and friends.

Really sad to hear about David. Actually I am sad that we have lost more than our share of classmates. Stay healthy and safe everyone!!

Hey it's Salem vs Cave Spring tonight at Salem Stadium. Maybe I will see some of you there. I live in Salem but still love my Knights. They seem to have a good season and then fall apart when they come to Salem Stadium. I hope they can change that tonight.

Hope everyones Thanksgiving went well, it was so nice to have family in for the holiday. The only thing was my dog did not like all those strangers in his house. We got thru it.
I would also like to say how proud I am of the Knights football team this year. It was great to see them get so far in to the play offs. Hold you head high fellows you did an amazing job.

Happy New Year and Great Good Wishes to everyone. Special congratulations to Alan Woodrum and Beth Vanderwarker Woodrum for their son's athletic (Star CS QB this season)accomplishments. Reading the notes above-- looks like they have a scholar as well! I am not too surprised given that Alan and Beth were two of Cave Spring's best folks in their days there.

I have spent the last two days reading every single message, forums, pics and smiling the entire time. I want to say Hi to everyone. I have found some lost friends, what a great idea for us to keep in touch with each other,

Now instead of my coffee & The LA Times, now I get my coffee and read "The Class of 1978" This morning while checking my email I realized one thing- The Class of '78 was just one big family! Think about it! It did not matter what side of the train track you lived, who your parents were or how you dressed- everyone respected each other and we would do anything for each other! Thanks guys for making Cave Spring High School Class of ’78 some of the best years of my life.

My daughters Sara and Samantha will also be with me, they are taking all the photos. So I am hoping to add some new photos to my profile. My son Allen is in Danville and can not be with us due to other plans. I hope everyone has a great day. Thanks for letting me share my excitment!
