Vicky Lakes (Fuller)

Hey guys, well I know I could stand a good night's sleep if nothing else...worked late and decided on pizza and a movie...Jess is doing fine, Zach, still pretty congested, coughing alot, but the breathing treatment seems to help a little. It's going to be a LOOOOONNNNNGGG recovery. He's already making me coo coo for cocoa puffs.

I think I need to go out to Target for the wine cube everyone seems to think is pretty good.

Bubble wrap, I definately need some...I had two kids with broken arms two weeks apart (one was from sledding, the other flipped off her bike)...and the older one also got a black eye from a snowball fight at a hockey game...I was sure Social Services was going to be knocking on my door any day.

I hope the wine festival doesn't get rained out for you guys...Kristen, Trina, ya'll have a good time.

Kristen Witt (Bray)

Kristin and Trina --- I had a bottle of Smith Mountain Lake Sunset (or Sunrise) and it was the best wine I had tasted in quite some time. I like white wine (so I can't remember which wine was the white wine). So, I hope that ya'll have a great time today. It may not be the best weather, but be glad that it's not a humid 90 degrees with no wind!

Vicky --- I, too, thought that Social Services would be called on me when they see how many bruises my kids have on their little bodies. They just get a little crazy sometimes and seem to hit the same area and therefore, tend to carry many bruises at one time. But, from what I heard, Social Services looks at bruises/markings in "odd" places which gives an indication of abuse. So, I think that I am okay! :) I hope that ya'll had a much better night of sleep last night. Hearing the rain outside made it easy to go to sleep, but the downpours during the night woke me up often.

So, gang, we have been through Metallica, NKOTB, Duran Duran, Prince, etc..., who is the music artist for next week?

I'm thinking it should be Madonna. I have lyricitis on most of her songs, so I'll leave it up to someone else to come up with the words.

Well...I got outbid on ebay last night for some golf clubs. I'm a little ticked. I really want these new clubs in time for golfing next weekend. Trying again this evening.

Well...the hubby just took the son for a homecoming hairdo. I'm hoping it's not a curly perm. Anyhoo...Andy found another girl to go with so he's not going with the guys afterall. I'm sure they'll all meet up together anyway and hang out. Botetourt won against Blacksburg last night, so that's good stuff.

I took Cindy and her friend skating last night and was really shocked to see that it costs $8.00 to go these days. 5 to get in and 3 to rent skates. That's crazy. These kids need part-time jobs, I'm thinking.

Carla Boyd (McCabe)

Kelly...you went skating without me??? Would anyone be interested in trying to fit in some skating over homecoming weekend? I asked Setch about it and he said if we came, he'd try to get Scott to DJ for us and play 80's music!

I merely dropped off and picked up....no skating for Kelly. I've had foot reconstruction, remember? I'm not graceful without my "special shoes" ya know. I would surely fall and bust my rear or knock out teeth or something horrific. Or worse...screw up my very expensive foot that took me forever to pay off.

I would love to watch you all, though. That would be great fun!

Jolee Clarke (Preston)

Hey all~ What a dreary day. I got up and was in the office at 7am to record a lecture over my power point for this week's class...after 3 hours...I clicked to save it...damn computer locked up...and I lost the whole thing. Grrrrreattttttt. So, I picked up my crap and left. Sucks.

Got 3 teen girls here walking around in sequin heels, with their hair up in towels, and trying to negotiate me taking them somewhere. This was after the dog brought me what I thought was a black shoestring...which turned out to be someone's underwear....or lack thereof. Fun in the house with teens....all the while Johnny is upstairs in the luxury of the bedroom taking a powernap.

Carla~
Skating would be fun...but Friday night is the game and service and then saturday night some folks are hoping to trapse around Roanoke...when else would you do it? I would love to hang out over there sometime.

Kenzie goes for her sleep deprived EEG on Tuesday...it will be compared to the bad one from when she was in the hospital...keep your fingers crossed for me.

Vicky~
I feel for ya...sometimes the medical field can literally drive you crazy...I'm glad everyone is recuperating...

Jeff E.~
I am needing a little explanation for your profile...not getting it. I think I am...but just not sure. Talk to us.

Later taters~

Carla Boyd (McCabe)

I'm exhausted! Did Mason's birthday party at Thunder Valley...at least it's not Chuck E. Cheese!
Jolee...Would you be interested in skating Saturday afternoon if we could?
Gotta go watch them Hokies!

Trina Schossow (Folden)

Hey Gang...so the Wine Fest turned into a free spa day...mud bath and all. Kristin...I didn't make it to the SunTrust tent, but I was there. We were determined to have fun regardless of weather. I'm home now and have had a shower. I feeling tipsy, but not quite the love fest that Amy WM had last weekend!!

I am headed to bed after a putting my stuff in the washer (full of mud). Have a great night all...

Trina Schossow (Folden)

By the way... We Love to skate!!!!

Faye Sowers (Crute)

Jolee, I think it was me being a dumb blonde with reading Jeff's profile so Jeffrey fellow XPLAIN......please for all of us clueless folks.......you know it does take me a few extra minutes also.......

Stefanie Lugar

Gerg- Don't stop with the lyrics, keep 'em coming. I love reading them and knowing that I was singing along to something so beautiful.

Jolee- I admire you girl! Thanks for everything you've done and continue to do. You are appreciated!!! If you have a contact for Greg M I would love to get it. I know you and you won't give up until he joins us. It may be 10 years from now but he will join if you have anything to do with it. At least we will see him at our 30th reunion if that's the case.

HEY MARION!!! I hate I didn't make it to the reunion. We did have a lot of fun at the 10 year. Can't believe it's 10 years later. Tell Ed we will relive the 10 year at the next one. Hope you make it to the HC Game. I would love to see ya!

09/28/08 03:36 PM #453

Kristin Fisher (Rush)

Trina, I didnt go to the wine festival. We all decided to have a party at my friends house and watch football. No one wanted the mud bath. Good to hear you had a good time though.

Carla, i tried skating not to long ago with my daughter and i thought i was going to die. I am not as confident on them as i used to be. Its amazing how scary it seemed. After a while i was doing a little better but not brave enough (or comfortable) enough to try and do the things i used to do out there. Think i will leave the skating for the kids!

Jolee Clarke (Preston)

Hi all...here I sit, in this damn office...on a Sunday. Now, the window of opportunity has passed for me to drive 35 minutes home, only to have to turn around and pick Kenzie up 45 minutes from our house at 6:15pm! I wish there was somewhere I could just rent a weekly room with a couch...that doesn't have cuties on it, of course. I go to my mom's all the time, but they smoke like freight trains, so I sit there and try not to breathe, nor pay attention to the idea that one of these days she really IS going to cough up a lung. No offense to anyone who smokes...k?

On one hand, I don't want Kenzie to drive...for fear of her immediate death...on the other hand, thousands of others have succeeded at this skill...and it would free me up sooooo much!

I know my husband misses me...all I do is go to work, run Kenzie around, and sit somewhere until she is ready. I need some "adult" time!! Hellooooo!?!?!

Somebody give me some good ideas for like a weekend retreat place where I can take the hubby, enjoy the surroundings...and not spend $3,592,490. Kelly, your house is out.

Jeff E- Glad your with us. I need some help here. I'm confused like usual but more so than normal. I'm w/ Faye and Jolee on their thoughts regarding your profile. Can you help us understand? Hope to see you at the Homecoming game.

09/28/08 04:48 PM #456

Jolee-
If you ever need a place to hang out until your next mission, please let me know. It's gotta suck driving, waiting, etc.. I'm just right down the street from where you work, I think. Are you at the College of Health Sciences? I'm on Crystal Spring which is off McClannahan which is close to Rke Memorial. I will forewarn you, my dogs will be all over you so you must be prepared to love them back. That's better than needing an oxygen tank, right? If I'm not home, you are still welcome to hang out here as long as you need. You can repay me by putting a new roof on my house like you did yours. Just kidding, you can just mow my yard instead. lol. Definitely get in touch, 798-6566. I don't mind a bit!

I don't know what you and your husband like to do but what about renting a cabin in Gatlinburg? My friends just did that and they found a cabin on the internet that was extremely reasonable and it was nice. I guess times are slow bc of the economy and they are lowering prices??? I think the Greenbriar and the Homestead are way more expensive.

I guess all you NKOTB Groupies are glued to your TVs tonight. I'm watching their live show on VH1 and haven't found a lot to like, yet!!! I'd still rather see Rick Springfield any day.

Greg-Can you find the lyrics to Jessie's Girl? I know you can, I've got faith in you.

09/28/08 09:40 PM #458

Shannon Davis (Nuckolls)

Stephanie L-Can you line up your hairstylist for the Homecoming weekend? Maybe he/she would give us a group rate. If you would have been at the reunion, I feel postive you would have received the "Best Hair" award!

Stef~
Thanks for the offer. I just don't see why people stare at others who are asleep in their car...even if they are in their driveway...just kidding. I just may take you up on that sometime. At this point, all I can say is thank God for XM radio and my blackberry. It can keep me occupied for a while! Can't believe you are dissing the Kids on the Block....get their CD...or I'll burn you one...it is pretty darned good.

Happy Monday everybody...grrrrrrr........

09/29/08 09:52 AM #460

Kelly Houston

Happy Monday, you all. I am playing hooky today...did a ton of paperwork over the weekend and I'm so burnt out I could spontaneously combust. I'll be so glad to start home health so I can be in charge of my own schedule and not have to put up with all of the medicare doo-doo that I have to deal with at a skilled nursing facility on a daily basis. It's b.s. And even though I'm staying home today, I still have a load more work to do on the computer without even seeing any patients in person.

Enough of that...so...Jolee...you don't want to crash at my place? What's up? I swear I wouldn't burn the place down or anything. Hey- what does Kenzie have to do to prepare for her EEG? Does she have to stay up all night tonight or something?

Vicky- I hope your kiddos are doing better after a restful weekend. Danny had a JDRF auction at work the other day and he got me Phillies bobbleheads Ryan Howard and Jimmy Rollins, 2007 and 2006 MVPs. So far, so good with the Phillies. Now our Eagles on the other hand. That sucked last night. Ugh.

Danny and I are probably coming up to Philly for the 12/28 Eagles vs Cowboys game and to visit my sweet grandfather (the one who knocked his beer off his walker). I'll bet you and Kristen WB will be traveling south during that time, right?

Still waiting for an explanation of Jeff's profile. While reading that I actually had a moment where I thought to myself, "holy crap...was Jeff Emick one of my former husbands?"

Oh..and Jolee. Andy made it home safe and sound Saturday night but he left his jacket in the girl's car. Hmm. Oh...and homecoming dresses sure are low cut and short in length! I almost suggested to "Sharon" aka "Share Bear" that she wear one of my turtlenecks over her dress in case she got cold. Yikes.

Hey Laura Wolfe...do you remember that unfortunate homecoming dance where we pretty much dumped our dates after maybe 30 minutes there? Those poor guys! I couldn't look them in the eye for probably a month after that!

Hey Steph I have to agree with you on Rick Springfield. His concert in Roanoke back in the 80s is still one of the best concerts I have ever seen. My number one still has to be Kool in the Gang in Radford.

Jolee - don't start hatin on me I like the NKTOB too and I did send my wife and a friend of hers to see JT in C-Ville last year.

Anyway I'm not sure why but I'm starting to feel like Casey Kasem.

Now by request this one goes out to Steph.

Jessie is a friend,
Yeah I know he's been a good friend of mine
But lately something's changed
It ain't hard to define
Jessie's got himself a girl
And I want to make her mine
And she's watching him with those eyes
And she's lovin' him with that body, I just know it!
And he's holding her in his arms late, late at night

You know I wish that I had Jessie's girl
I wish that I had Jessie's girl
Where can I find her, a woman like that?

I'll play along with this charade
That doesn't seem to be a reason to change
You know I feel so dirty when they start talking cute
I wanna tell her that I love but the point is probably moot
'Cause she's watching him with those eyes
And she's lovin' him with that body, I just know it!
And he's holding her in his arms late, late at night

You know I wish that I had Jessie's girl
I wish that I had Jessie's girl
Where can I find her, a woman like that?

Like Jessie's girl
I wish that I had Jessie's girl
Where can I find her, a woman...
Where can I find her, a woman like that?

And I'm lookin' in the mirror all the time
Wonderin' what she don't see in me
I've been funny; I've been cool with the lines
Ain't that the way love's supposed to be?
Tell me why can't I find a woman like that?

You know I wish that I had Jessie's girl
I wish that I had Jessie's girl
Where can I find her, a woman like that?

Like Jessie's girl
I wish that I had Jessie's girl
I want, I want Jessie's girl

What IS this?! Stefanie has the nice hair and now she gets Rick Springfield, too?! This is horse%#@&!!!

Okay...so I got my golfclubs Saturday night so I feel somewhat better.

Sheesh.

Can't anyone come out to play today? I'm off, for crying out loud.

I can only watch so much Court TV!

Kristen Witt (Bray)

Kelly and Laura --- I had one of the WORST prom dates ever during my junior year. It was so horrible that even my brother and his friends STILL talk about it. It was so bad that I refused for my prom picture to be placed in a frame and hung beside my precious brothers prom picture. (For those of you who know my brother, Donna Ingram was technically his first girlfriend, and they are still together today ... 24 years later!). My mom actually took an exacto-knife and cut my date out of the picture, so it is just me with my hand laying on a "ghost" chest. CLASSIC bloopers!!!! It left such an emotional scar, can you tell?

Jolee --- you can come and stay at my house. It sounds like by the time that you make it up here, tag my front porch, and then turn around to head home, that you would still be there in time. Hee~hee!!!!

Stephanie - Rick Springfield was at Busch Gardens doing a summer's night concert in July....I would have loved to see him. Maybe next time :(
