Angelo Tomaras

Kenny G? Oh the agony.....

Greg --- so, where are you getting the lyrics? I have been to lyrics.com and it wasn't giving me didly squat on some of my songs. I figured that they didn't keep records that old!!! Hee~hee.

Jolee--- I use to work at the Martinsville Races for a friend of my step-fathers. I did hostess work in the VIP tent for Jeff Gordon. I remember that we flirted with each other. This was before he became a popular driver. Of course, once he became popular, then he chose Brook over me. And we see how that turned out. My stepfather always said "look where you could have been if you only tried harder". :)

Jolee!!!!!! NOOOOOOO.

Just kidding! Actually I use http://www.lyricsmania.com/. I think they have pretty much the best selections. Sometimes the words aren't 100% accurate because users have the ability to post lyrics to songs that aren't out there.

Speaking of Jeff Gordon did anybody see his new paint scheme for 2009 on the Today show this morning? He is using black instead of the blue and the front is bright yellow. Looked pretty sharp though.

Kristen...Jeff Gordon was my first favorite. I always stood up for him even when he was being called "gay." It is hard to deny that someone who is one year younger than us, (born on Aug.4th), can be so talented. I have also added Tony Stewart (I like his rebel side...rowww!), Denny Hamlin (his uncle, Galen Hamlin works for my mom), and Carl Edwards (he reminds me of Rusty Hale...polished, good with people, would be an excellent anchor). Not sure if Rusty can do back flips off of his window though...have to ask.

I have never been in a VIP tent...but if I did...it would be in Jeff's or Tony's. I think Tony would try to steal me from Johnny if he knew I was a sassy nurse...that is why I haven't persued it....but races are more fun than I ever thought they were...especially if you have scanners and hear what they REALLY say....

And yes Angelo, Kenny G was pure agony. I have dog ears...high pitch noises KILL me...and I can hardly hear low tones...so I was like a dog...my head cocked to the side and whimpering the entire time.

Interesting day here...came home after getting my kids from school...Mason is talking about football and we hear footsteps as the kids are getting snacks. Mason says "there is the football man now"(meaning Daddy) and I stopped dead in my tracks! I knew Matt was in Alta Vista on a job. Trying not to alert the kids I go to see if maybe a cat is going nuts, or the neighbors dog has somehow gotten in our house. I go up and check the upstairs rooms...nothing but cats sleeping on beds. I go to the basement and find the door standing open! Oh s---! So I run back upstairs and tell the kids to get in the van, NOW! We go to the neighbors and I called 911. (I told the kids there was a mean stray dog that needed to be caught.) I couldn't help but think of Jolee as I watched some of Botetourt's finest go into my house and look around the yard! If I hadn't been so scared I could of enjoyed it...they sent 5 cars! Sorry Jolee...no pics! All I could think about was that me and the kids had almost walked into trouble. Apparantly, whoever was in the house came in through a basement door we have some trouble with. They must of been in my bedroom and bolted back down the basement steps when they heard us. Nothing seems to be missing. Matt is on his way home with a deadbolt lock for that door! I have been telling him that we needed to do something about that door...I win!

OH SHIT CARLA!! I would be moving tomorrow...I am a wuss when it comes to being alone...tooooo many scary movies watched here...especially Panic Room...geez!

You could have asked for Ronnie Sprinkle...Botetourt's absolute finest. I took care of his dad, Stormin' Norman, for many weeks on the inpatient oncology floor and was there with the family for his last breaths. Good, good family.

Get a deadbolt and an alarm system...sorry that happened...

Trina - Setting the record straight, can't be bunking with Angelo and the frat boys...I am happily married :) lol. But I will kick his butt in some FFL.

Greg -You are the man, so many lyrics so little time. And yes Crumb snatchers, and there's also yard apes.

Stefanie - Whenever you get your RV I'll make the first run with you...I always wanted to go cross country in an RV...do you have room for my dog too? He has separation anxiety.

Rick Springfield prior to the concert was also photographed walking around Valley View Mall...my brother saw him...too bad the rest of us were in school at the time he was there :(

First concert, at least the one I can remember would have been Chicago sometime in Jr. High. I went with Ann Atchley and Kelly Spicer I think...I remember we all got the glow in the dark t-shirts.

However I did win Journey Concert tickets my junior year from K-92, got the nerve to ask Jeff Hughes to go with me, he was going to pick me up after work. But the stupid concert was cancelled due to Steve Perry being sick...they sent me an album and a t-shirt that was too small instead :( I still like Journey... Hey Greg, can I make a request? I did however get introduced to a guy at a party we went to for Karen Lester a year later...he looked just like Steve Perry..I have a picture of us together..John Bell I think...Karen do you remember that...the other guy had those shoes on that looked like old man loafers and they had the framed letter to Jesus in the bathroom...such a strange place for a letter...

Wine Fests, now that sounds like a good time...they need more of that up here, but somehow I don't think the Amish grow grapes ...but they do raise tobacco and corn..hmmmmm

Jolee - I remember Norman Sprinkle. He and my grandmother were friends. I ran into him a few times at her place (she used to do his taxes) I especially remember his grandson Scott :-) (at least I think it was his Grandson) When my mom moved back to the area she bought the house across from the house he grew up in (weird)..and she got to know his dad (double weird) but now she's in Bedford...I always kept my eyes peeled in case he was visiting at the same time I was.

Carla - Hope you are ok. That is scary. I know while John is away I don't crate our dog at night or while I'm at work...he's not keen on strangers and has a vicious bark. I think Kelly has a poodle she'll lend you...but you have to yell "free" for him to come out of his crate.

Sean - That is too funny. I hope she is feeling better soon. You may want to hide the pictures and bring them out later.

Greg - loved the story of the steps. still chuckling over that. John has surgery on the 22nd, I may have to try that one. lol

Carla -- I have my own alarm system. At our front door, there are 2 bikes, a toy motorcycle, and the baby stroller. So, the front door is blocked. After walking upstairs, you would have to dodge the many Thomas the Train trains scattered on the floor (and man do they hurt when you step on them!). I do not keep our place this unorganized, but when Steve is out of town, I purposely place these items on the floor. Seriously though, I am glad that ya'll are okay. I wish I still worked at Medeco, because then I could set you up with a high security deadbolt. If you are still interested, call me and I will see what I can do!

10/02/08 09:14 PM #526

Vicky Lakes (Fuller)

Kristen - First off, the offer still stands if you want to hitch a ride with me on the 17th. Secondly, do you have the die cast metal Thomas the Trains, or the bigger ones? Zach LOVED the little ones that were metal...probably made in china with lead paint...but he knew everyone of their names and would line them up end to end through the room and leave them. I think he did it on purpose to see how many we could step on. He was so funny about making everything into a train...lincoln logs, legos, whatever..he never built anything...just lined everything up. I guess when your dad was a former RR brakeman and you gradpa retired from riding trains for 35 years it's in your blood.

Shannon Davis (Nuckolls)

Carla-I can't believe your house was broken into. So glad you are all okay.

Greg T-Thanks for the words to "We Don't Have to Take Our Clothes Off" Kelly H. tried to get the DJ to play it at the reunion for me but we did not know who sang it. Cheesecake Factory is the best!! Now I want cheesecake. Would you like me to bring you some when I come in Oct. 17?

I sprayed some Cocoa Mademoiselle by Chanel perfume on me today at the Chanel counter. I smell like I am a rich woman.

Kelly-Either your phone died or mine did. My girls did not like the pork chop dinner I cooked. Instead they ate microwave pancakes with sweet tea for dinner while we were talking! The pork chop dinner is not my fault by the way. It must have been the recipe.

I will get some of these good old school songs on my husband's IPod & bring it to tailgate if Jolee will let me put it on her docking station.

PS-Kelly why are you embarrassed of your first concert? was it Fraggle Rock or something? (That was a show for kids on HBO in the 80's)

Stefanie Lugar

Kristen- Thanks for letting me know you have a connection in the RV world. Unfortunately, I purchased the RV today before reading your message. It's on order so it should be ready for pick up @ the end of Oct. I'm having special curtains, carpet and seat cushions made that say Stef & Rick forever. Since you have connections w the alarm system/deadbolt world, you can hook me up there too. I have a dog door that a 6' man can crawl through. I know this bc my electrician did it while I was gone and my dogs loved him so they thought it was just fine.

Vicky- I will let you know when I hit the road and I'm glad to hear your up for the first run. Of course your dog is welcome. My dogs will be there too.

Kristy K- I think I remember that dance. Was that the same night we got into so much trouble after the dance? You know, when you and Marion drove (or attemted to drive) back to her house. I think you know the rest. Wheeew! That was awful!!! We thought your dad was gonna send us all to Corner Springs. Looking back, he should have. Remember Madapony? Fun times!

Hi all ~ Going to get away from the madness for a couple of days. Heading to the beach on the bikes. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

10/02/08 10:00 PM #531

Stefanie Lugar

Trina- I will let you know about the Nevada trip. The "Rockin Rick RV" will definitely be in action. Vicky and I need to route out the trip so we catch all the shows. I will definitely let you know if Vegas is in the route @ the end of Nov. Glad to know you are ready to tour.

Angelo- Sweetie, you are on the wrong site to be talkin' like that about the Rick Springfield concert. What do you mean you are embarrassed! How could you!?!?!?

10/02/08 10:52 PM #532

Carla Boyd (McCabe)

So tonight I find out that the reason they sent so many cops today is that last weekend someone broke into a house in Fincastle during the night while the folks were sleeping! I guess they figure it might be the same person. Well...I feel so much better! NOT!
Vicky...Kelly's dog will never do...I better have one that responds to words not near as tame as "free".
Kristen WB...Sounds like your alarm system resembles the movie Home Alone.

I remember the Rick Springfield Concert in 1982--I did not attend but I was certain it was before '85. I remember particularly the girls wearing their concert t's with the "Success hasn't spoiled me yet" line on them.

My first concert was Duran Duran probably that same year. I was not even particularly a fan but I went because some of my friends were going.

I also remember seeing Ratt in concert when Motley Crue was their opening act.

10/02/08 11:46 PM #534

Carla Boyd (McCabe)

Ken...Duran Duran was in 1984! I know a lot of gals who will back me up on this! I even recently wore my 1984 t-shirt when I saw them in the spring. Stefanie may have Rick Springfield...but I lead a second life with John Taylor! It can be a lot of trouble at times...trying to decide if I should do Thanksgiving with the McCabes or the Taylors. John gets terribly jealous of Matt! :)
Laura WC...is this turning into an electronic version of our notebooks? Who wants to come over and look at my DD scrapbooks?!:) I probably won't sleep well tonight anyway...great time for a slumber party!
Okay...going to TRY to get some sleep...I may get a BIG dog in the morning!

Shannon....I guess my stupid phone died. Ugh. What fab conversation, girlie girl! Andy called from his dad's right after that and it got really deep. It's so strange to have a teenager that has has all of those same issues that we had back in the day. I'm so fortunate that my kid talks to me, but at the same time I get a weird feeling in my gut when we talk about "stuff." I think sometimes it's difficult to know when you are crossing a line.

I don't want to be best buddies with my children, but I don't want to be a hard-a$$ warden either. Jolee gets me. I'm sure a lot of you other ghost-readers do also. I've been ill tonight because I had to kind of punish Cindy. She's a fabuluso kiddo...never any problems from her except for a messy room and so forth. I got an interim report in the mail about her Advanced English class and how she had a million 100% on a bazillion tests and pop-quizzes and that she didn't turn in 3 stupid-a$$ vocabulary papers and now her average is a friggin 68.5%. Her class average is an F.

Ugh. I opened this mail while driving to my nice little beautiful new Bonsack Kroger this evening and I felt as though I would barf as I pulled into my parking space.

So there sat my little cutie-pie 12 year-old girl with her little round face, her 64# body, with big blue eyes (still a size 6X at 12 years old), wearing plaid shorts and a crochet cap looking up at me from her journal asking, "so what would you like me to cook for dinner tonight, mommy?" She's still so innocent, ya know? She's smart as hell with all of her advanced junk but she just blows it off and it drives me nuts. I'm just being dumb at this point...goodnight.

Sorry, guys.

P.S. Almost hit a black bear on 220 near Eagle Rock yesterday. He was HUGE and I tried to take a cell phone picture but couldn't coordinate it in such quick time. He was probably 500-600lbs and pure black. He just trotted (or kind of galloped) across the road in front of me. I was in awe. I had never seen a bear that up close except for in the zoo, so it was really something to behold. Wow!

OMG...I was wondering how to spell "madapony" and if it was like a street or what?! All I know is that it was a road of some sorts and we used to hang out and drink and whatnot. Mattipony, Maddiponee, Maddiponie, drunkenpony, goodnight.

Tee hee, Shannon. Not Fraggle Rock but close. I cannot answer the concert question. Everyone will laugh at me. Seriously.
