Shannon....I guess my stupid phone died. Ugh. What fab conversation, girlie girl! Andy called from his dad's right after that and it got really deep. It's so strange to have a teenager that has has all of those same issues that we had back in the day. I'm so fortunate that my kid talks to me, but at the same time I get a weird feeling in my gut when we talk about "stuff." I think sometimes it's difficult to know when you are crossing a line.
I don't want to be best buddies with my children, but I don't want to be a hard-a$$ warden either. Jolee gets me. I'm sure a lot of you other ghost-readers do also. I've been ill tonight because I had to kind of punish Cindy. She's a fabuluso kiddo...never any problems from her except for a messy room and so forth. I got an interim report in the mail about her Advanced English class and how she had a million 100% on a bazillion tests and pop-quizzes and that she didn't turn in 3 stupid-a$$ vocabulary papers and now her average is a friggin 68.5%. Her class average is an F.
Ugh. I opened this mail while driving to my nice little beautiful new Bonsack Kroger this evening and I felt as though I would barf as I pulled into my parking space.
So there sat my little cutie-pie 12 year-old girl with her little round face, her 64# body, with big blue eyes (still a size 6X at 12 years old), wearing plaid shorts and a crochet cap looking up at me from her journal asking, "so what would you like me to cook for dinner tonight, mommy?" She's still so innocent, ya know? She's smart as hell with all of her advanced junk but she just blows it off and it drives me nuts. I'm just being dumb at this point...goodnight.
Sorry, guys.
P.S. Almost hit a black bear on 220 near Eagle Rock yesterday. He was HUGE and I tried to take a cell phone picture but couldn't coordinate it in such quick time. He was probably 500-600lbs and pure black. He just trotted (or kind of galloped) across the road in front of me. I was in awe. I had never seen a bear that up close except for in the zoo, so it was really something to behold. Wow!
