Angelo Tomaras

Christmas has offically come early for me :)

Good news, jam-band fans. Phish, One of the most solo-friendly bands in history, will begin a sustained reunion phase with three live dates at the Hampton Coliseum, in Hampton, Virginia, on March, 6, 7 and 8, 2009.

Tickets go on sale Sat. Oct. 18t at 10 a.m. and can be purchased either online at www.ticketmaster.com or by phone at 757-671-8100, 757-872-8100, or 804-262-8100.

Angelo,
I assume if you venture to the Hampton Coliseum, which is nice (at least the last time I was there) you'll be staying overnight. I'd suggest staying out towards Oyster Point. There's a business park that comes up (Newport News/Yorktown)near Oyster Point right off of I-64 where there is a mall and lots of chain places (Mariotts etc) and restaurants and it's by a golf course in a nice area...The coliseum isn't in the best location...

Im very intimate with that area (many many Phish/Dead/Metallica shows)...and I was one in the group that went from school our senior year to see U2. Hotels already sold out..everyone's a buzz (literally) over the news. I have alot of fraternity brothers that live there too so I'll crash somewhere - I aint scared...

Vicky Lakes (Fuller)

Angelo - Well there you go then...frat brothers...our friends live out in VA Beach, about 40 mins from there, but I don't think you'd want to shack up with a bunch of little crumb snatchers...in a "dry" house. lol

Just an early heads-up for any of you hoping to join in on the wine festival circuit yet this fall--there is a wine and garlic festival (two great tastes, though I don't exactly think of them together) the weekend of Oct. 11th and 12th in Amhearst: http://www.rebecwinery.com/page10.html . I will probably be heading there the 12th

I'd love to see Phish in concert, but probably will have to give them a miss again.

Don't think I'm going to make it in for homecoming. Kids activities all weekend and that is my weekend with them.

Stefanie Lugar

Greg- You are too sweet! I never got the check yes or no letter bc I thought it was for the other Stephanie. Could Jolee or Kelly have had anything to do with it? Hmmm. You know how they are. Thank you Greg for that long distance dedication. It brought tears to my eyes. I just hope Ricky was listening. Deee-lyyye-laaa doesn't compare!

Kristen- You are so right! I'm all over it. I have decided to quit my job, buy an RV and travel from show to show so Ricky will know just how I feel about him. He and I belong together. Don't you agree? I will tell him you think of him often but you have moved on with your life. Maybe I'll bring him to the 25th reunion or we could have a 21st reunion if everyone's game. I'll find out his tour schedule first and we'll plan around that.

Missy- I don't remember the rockets. Could it have been a fan's oversprayed hair catching fire from a waving lighter? Was he wearing tight red pleather pants or was that another time? Seems like I remember him in red pants and a black sleeveless shirt.

Vicky- Since I will be traveling from show to show, I guess I will be heading to Nevada, Ca and Fl. Let me know if you want to come along. Plenty of room in the RV.

Jolee- Call me and we'll figure out a good time for you to come by and meet the boys. That way they will know who you are when your sleeping on the couch and they won't try to chew you're foot off during REM sleep. Call me anytime @ 798-RICK or 798-6566.

I thought the concert was in 82 or 83. Does anyone know for sure when it was? Greg? ;)

Have a great Thursday!
SteF. (Greg-you can spell it anyway you would like. It doesn't bother me a bit. It is very nice of you to notice the correct spelling. You are so attentive!)

Happy Thursday to all.

Ken and All Wine Lovers...the garlic fest at Rebec is great! About 10 years ago I took a "Vines and Viniculture" class at VWCC. The instructor had a small vinyard nearby that sold the grapes to Rebec. Extra Credit?? Work the Garlic Fest as a pourer. Had to study up on the wines and such and had a BLAST!! The festival was great too, lots to eat and drink. Our girl Karen Lester Hall was a pourer at the SML wine fest last weekend. Karen...I know you are reading...shhhhhhhh! (-:

Vicky...you need to bunk with Angelo and the "frat boys"!

Stefanie...I'll be in Vegas the end of November, let me know if the "Rick Party RV" will be in town...(-:

Morning Everyone.

Stef - I think the concert was in 85. I remember the big TVs on the stage and according to RickSpringfield.com his 1985 tour was called the Cathode Ray Tour. This would kind of tie in with the TVs on the stage. Plue I think I took the girl I was dating from Glenver to that concert and I didn't meet her until 9th grade which would have been 84-85.

Trina - I have been to that wine festival. It really is a good time. That's awesome that you took that class. I bet it was very interesting. Do you guys ever go to Trio? I walk past it almost everyday but I've only been once. It is nice though.

Shannon Davis (Nuckolls)

The Rick Springfield concert was definitely the summer of 1985. I pulled out my photo album. I have 10 pictures from that concert that I took with my "Kodak Disc" camera. I went with Amie Morgan. Her dad dropped us off about 4:30 that day. We were up close. The pictures show the huge TV's and a big white rocket. Rick either changed clothes or shed some during the show. He wore black pants, black jacket, long white scarf, & black tie. Then at the end he only had on the black pants & a black sleevless T-shirt. (Nicer than a wife beater T-shirt) Also, he wore black gloves!

Kelly H-I'm off today. Too bad you aren't here in Raleigh with me. I may go shopping! I found one little surprise for you already.

10/02/08 10:07 AM #501

Greg Terry

Shannon that is crazy that you have those pictures! Thanks for setting the record straight on the TVs and the rocket.

Raleigh! I love Raleigh. We come down that way quite a bit for the UNC football and basketball games. I attend some technical training classes down there from time to time also.

If you head over to crabtree today grab some Cheesecake Factory cheesecake for me!

Kristy Keesee (Ayers)

Hey guys...first time in the message forum so I guess that makes me somewhat of a virgin. God, I didn't think that I even knew that word anymore.
Thought it would be fun to post prom and homecoming stories. My favorite homecoming was in 10th grade...I went with Kenny (forgot last name) and Julie Wilborn went with Kurt Giantonio. They dropped us off at Julies and Jeff Suttles and Chad picked us up for a night of 4-wheeling. We got stuck and spent all night in a jeep with our dresses on. Did not come home until sun-up. Oh....it was so convenient to have a best friend whose mom was pretty much deaf. (No disrespect intended b/c Mom Wilborn is the Bomb!)
STEF- remember some tropical themed dance that all of the girls were going to and we were parked at that dead-end when the Cops came? We had a tupperware bowl full of grain and fruit sitting in front of the car...How did they not see that?
Lets hear your best stories. Please include all of the naked, drunk details!!!!!!
About Rick Springfield....I am pretty sure that he came in 81' or 82'as well because it was my first concert ever. I went with Paige Alderman(now there is a name for you) and her hot as hell dad.

10/02/08 11:03 AM #503

Angelo Tomaras

I was at Rick Springfiled too...Til Tuesday (Amie Mann) opened up for him. Yes, my first concert as well...Im embarassed..1984 was the year. I went with Duane Ellis. Next night, I was at Fres Fest v1 - Run DMC, Fat Boys, Grandmaster Flash & the Furious 5, Whodini, and Kurtis Blow...Oh the memories....for some reason I recall running into other classmates at the show ..probably was Kristi and Paige.

10/02/08 11:22 AM #504

Kelly Houston

Too embarassed to admit my first concert, so nevermind.

Kristy...that was a beach dance our sophomore year, I think.

Shannon...I was just thinking about you this morning and your song request at the reunion. I'm throwing it out to Greg for help.

Greg...who sang, "You don't have to take your clothes off to have a good time." I think Marion figured it out, but the DJ didn't have it. Help.

10/02/08 11:32 AM #505

Trina Schossow (Folden)

Kelly...don't leave us hangin'. It can't be THAT bad.

10/02/08 11:42 AM #506

Beth Hill (Stewart)

Kristy,

You are correct!Rick Springfield came to Roanoke May 1982 and my mom was going to give me tickets to see him for my birthday, but instead we ended up going to the World's Fair in Knoxville, TN with David Brugh and his family! No offense David!

I thought of Rick the whole time I was at the World's Fair! :(

Greg Terry

Kristy - What happend to Paige? Didn't she graduate with us? I was just talking about her the other day. I was telling some people about the time Jason Loving and I got in trouble because Paige gave us this old lady's number to call and told us to call it because it was funny. The lady had her phone traced and the phone company called my mom. Not a good time.

Kelly - You are thinking of Jermain Stewart. And here are some lyrics for you.

Not a word, from your lips
You just took for granted that I want to skinny dip.
A quick hit, that's your game.
But I'm not a piece of meat, still you like my brain.
Night is young, so are we.
Let's get to know each other better, slow & easily.
Take my hand, let's hit the floor.
Shake our bodies to the music.
Maybe then you'll score.

So come on baby, won't you show some class
Why you want to move so fast.
We don't have to take our clothes off
To have a good time
Oh no
We could dance & party all night
And drink some cherry wine
Uh huh
We don't have to take our clothes off
To have a good time
Oh no
We could dance & party all night (all night)
And drink some cherry wine
Uh huh
Na na na na na na na............

Just slow down if you want me
A man wants to be approached cool & romantically
I've got needs
Just like you
If the conversation's good
Vibrations through & through

So come on baby, won't you show some class
Why you want to move so fast
We don't have to take outr clothes off
To have a good time
Oh no
We could dance & party all night (all night)
And drink some cherry wine
Uh huh
Na na na na na na.........

10/02/08 01:07 PM #508

Kelly Houston

A man wants to be approached cool and romantically? Does this man wear a skirt by any chance? Just kidding to all of you skirt wearing fellas.

I'm dancing all over the nursing home now...thanks Greg!

I need some cherry wine, though.

This little nursing home reminds me of a bake sale some old ladies had the other day. I bought a blueberry muffin from them and they gave it to me with a cocktail napkin that read, "I hope my ship comes in before my dock rots."

Na na na na na na na.....

Hangin at home today. Wife had wisdom teeth removed. People coming out of anethesia are suprisingly humorous. Guess I'll see how she is when she wakes up and the heavy duty meds wear off.
So, finally catching up with the site. (reading for an hour or so.)
"We dont have to take our clothes off" by Jermaine Stewart. Summer of '86. They played it like every 8 minutes on K92. Met my first real girlfriend at North Lakes pool while this song was on.
Cant remeber 1st concert. Its either INXS or U2. Very close together. Have a pic of Mike G. and I front row of INXS from Roanoke Times paper. See if I cant round it up.
OK, Trace is drooling on the pillow, one eye half open, zombied out. Got to go get the camera. What...you would do the same thing.

10/02/08 01:49 PM #510

Carla Boyd (McCabe)

Sean...you are a bad boy! Let her enjoy her meds!
I think Greg is right...Rick Springfield may of come twice...but I am pretty sure I remember taking my sister to that in 1985. And Stefanie...I also think I remember him in red pleather pants! Angelo...yep, I remember Til Tuesday being there also.

Kristen Witt (Bray)

Sean --- stop talking about your 1st girlfriend, you are making me jealous!!!! I, along with MANY girls, had the biggest crush on you in high school. Just don't keep reminding us that we had so much competition!!!! After looking at your pictures, I was wondering if you still talk to Mike Rodgers? I saw him several years ago at his parents house(Dave and Rosie). I hope that your wife starts to feel better soon. I have been there, and done that with the wisdom teeth. I was 23 or 24 years old. My mom took good care of me because I lived in an apartment by myself. But, she DIDN'T take pictures. :)

Stef --- my dad has connections with people who own RV's. Let me know and I can get you a good deal. Maybe they can even "pimp" it up. (If you can do "pimping" with Rick Springfield). Please tell Ricky that I said "hello". I am not sure if he would remember me or not. For some reason, I didn't become memorable until college. (Okay, get your dirty minds out of the gutter. It was in college that I finally blossomed!)

Greg --- you are too good at this lyric game. How about finding me the lyrics to "The Flame"? It was a slow song in the 80's. I can't remember who sang it, but I have googled the words and it still isn't coming up. HELP!!!! Does anyone remember that song? The lyrics had something like: I'm going crazy, I'm losing sleep, .... I'm in way to deep, over you, ....I'll be the first, you'll be the last, where ever you go, I'll be with you. What ever you want, I'll give it to you...". I know that I know most of the words, but I want it ALL!!!!

Trina Schossow (Folden)

Kelly, Dance away girl. I bet there is a resident on-site with some cherry wine...I'm actually working at Spring Arbor in Williamsburg today, cute little old man on his scooter doing laps around the interior. He is adorable! This is my 3rd assisted living facility this week, each one gets better, at least more amusing.

Greg, I haven't been to Trio. Unless we have pretty big plans, we stick close to the house with 2 "crumb snatchers" (Vicky's terminology)at home. We will enjoy more freedom when our oldest is old enough to babysit his little sister.

Sean, you had better be careful. I do think your wife will get her revenge if you take that picture!!

10/02/08 03:24 PM #513

Greg Terry

Sean that is hillarious. When my wife had lasic surgery I had to drive her home and to the eye doctor. She had her eyes bandgaged up so I had to tell her when to step up and all of that stuff. It was so funny telling her to step up when there wasn't a step there. She looked like she was trying to squash a bug. And ladies before you get mad at me, I had her laughing so hard because of that, that she forgot about being nervous from just having her eyes lasered!

Kristen you are looking for The Flame by Cheap Trick and here you go...

Another night slowly closes in,
And I feel so lonely.
Touching heat freezing on my skin,
I pretend you still hold me.
I'm going crazy, I'm losing sleep.
I'm in too far, I'm in way too deep over you.
I can't believe you're gone.
You were the first, you'll be the last.

Wherever you go, I'll be with you.
Whatever you want, I'll give it to you.
Whenever you need someone to lay your heart and head upon.
Remember: after the fire, after all the rain,
I will be the flame.
I will be the flame.

Watching shadows move across the wall,
I feel so frightened.
I wanna run to you, I wanna call,
But I've been hit by lightening.
Just can't stand up for fallin' apart.
Can't see through this veil across my heart, over you.
You'll always be the one.
You were the first, you'll be the last.

Wherever you go, I'll be with you.
Whatever you want, I'll give it to you.
Whenever you need someone to lay your heart and head upon.
Remember: after the fire, after all the rain,
I will be the flame.
I will be the flame.

I'm going crazy, I'm losing sleep.
I'm in too far, I'm in way too deep over you.

Whatever you want, I'll give it to you.
Wherever you go, I'll be with you.
And whatever you want, I'll give it to you.

I was such a lame high schooler. I worked every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night of my life from 9th grade until graduation...no parties, football games, concerts, nothing. My first concert....Dear Lord help me....Whitney Houston and Kenny G in Greensboro...of course, I did sneak the boyfriend with me...and another friend for cover from "the Terminator" (aka mom). I did make it to INXS when they came...which was absolutely awesome. I have made up for it in my latter years. Most recently saw Keith Urban...he loves me, and needs me, he just doesn't know it. Johnny was so embarrassed. I wouldn't sit down...because I knew he would see me better and possibly invite me backstage to meet Nic and Sunday Rose if he just saw me smiling and waving to him...he was an AWESOME concert and even Johnny was shocked...

Have fun at NKOTB....for all those who are going....

Anybody going to the Martinsville race? I'm pimping out stubhub.com and thinking about it....we live 25 minutes from M'ville...so we go, ride the motorcycles...park right beside Jeff Gordon behind the track, watch the race...then leave with 50-75 laps to go....we are home, watching the last 25 laps....saves us about 45 hours of traffic!!
