Shannon...I'm excited too. I know we will have a blast!! Any chance you are making your margarita recipe??

Jolee...cool boots, as Paris Hilton would say, "They're hot!" - heehee, nod to the flames.

Daniel...great pics. Welcome.

Kristen WB...I too love the idea for Mike's memorial at the 1 yr anniversary. By the way, My hair is longer right now that it has ever been. I too used to think once I hit 30 I needed to cut it, but if I feel 20...and you do NOT have a horse face. Whoever said that must be blind.

Hope all enjoyed the pretty day, I spent most of mine cleaning out the closet and room that we are getting ready to redecorate for my son. I love to paint and such, so it isn't too horrible for me, PLUS moving him out of his current room, makes a room for mom. Office/reading/craft/whatever room...a quiet space with no TV. One room in the house that is free of Cartoon Network and Noggin!!!

Trina, Yes I will bring margaritas. I am getting ready to make a batch right now as a matter of fact. If you want to make some too, here is the recipe:
1 can frozen limeade
1 Corona Lite
1 can 7up
Tequila
Pour frozen limeade into a pitcher. Fill empty limeade can 3/4 to full with Tequila, add to picher. Add Corona Lite & 7up. Stir well. Serve over ice.

Okay, so I feel like I spent a lot of the day with Mike G. today. His mom had loaned me a few momentos, photo albums, etc. to use in the memorial service. In looking through Mike's 2 photo albums...I had to laugh. He had everything meticulously organized, even has written on the back of each pic who it is and where the pic was taken. The France pictures were the most organized...I couldn't believe it! Soooo....I pulled a few and went to Walmart...stood in line for 5,289,290 hours and then scanned them and burned a CD...here are the results as I put them together as a slide show in photobucket. The last three pics are mine...a favorite pic of Lez, Marion, and Julie Barton with her now...20 year old?!?! Maybe 21? Enjoy!!!

Jolee...well done gal! I love it!

Jolee--- the video was really nice. I enjoyed seeing those pictures!

Shannon --- I love the picture of the three of us! I am so glad that you put a copy of it up on your profile. We will have to get in touch with Shelley and all of us get together some time soon. I had such a blast when we were hanging out!

Okay, my family went to the Philadelphia Zoo today. And I saw how the Zoo staff made great decisions about how to keep the animals contained in their environment. But, I am going to write them a letter and ask them to redesign the enclosures to keep my 3 year old OUT of them. Do you know how easy it is for a 3 year old to get into those enclosures? Let me put it to you this way.....we came face-to-face with several animals. Well, maybe it wasn't that extreme, but it sure did feel like it. By the way, do Zebras bite or chase/stomp when they are being chased by a 3 year old? He even chased a squirrel, peacock, and anything else that was anywhere close to him. I think that the zoo is going to cage all of those animals because of Carter! He sure is cute, but he is definitely a hand full! So, for those of you wondering, he is 100% like Steve!!!!!!

Dear Lord does anyone have any nausea medicine I could borrow? I just had to listen to Jessica Simpson BUTCHER the national anthem at the Charlotte race on tv....she kills me...and she makes my ears bleed.

And Kristen...yes, zebras are MEAN!!! So are squirrels and peacocks! Has anyone ever been to the Safari Park at Natural Bridge? It is a BLAST!! These big animals come right up into your car...I had a camel try to come home with me one time...not to mention an ostrich tried to peck my brain out through the sunroof...would love to go back though...

Kristen Witt (Bray)

Yes, we liked the Safari Park too.

Hey, guess what. Here is an oldie, but goodie. On the way home from the zoo, Steve and I heard the song "Freak-a-zoid". You know, it goes "Z-O-I-D-S"..."I'll be your freak-a-zoid, come on and wind me up".....I haven't heard that since we were in junior/high school!

Kristen WB - yep, our kids go to the zoo every year. John's Aunt and Uncle have a membership so they take all their nieces and nephews...I've been a 1/2 dozen or so times, but now I just let them take the kids when they want to and stay behind. They are actually going to take them the day John has his surgery so that should be a nice adventure...they do great with them though.

I have never been to Natural Bridge, how sad is that? Come to think of it I never went to Dixie or Luray Caverns either..

Man, everybody must have been busy today. Hardly any responses today. I hope that everyone had a great weekend!

Jolee... I hope to get the shirts Monday. If you will give me the list of who ordered what, I will sort them and attach prices to each one. I can't find your number...call me tonight if you can...I need to talk to you about it. 992-5588

Anyone have an opinion on where to go Saturday night? We need to decide so we can tell folks where we will be.

10/13/08 07:31 AM #754

Steven Swenson

Jolee,
Is there a schedule for Friday night yet?
eg. What time are we eating at the mexican place?

Are we still getting a tour of the school?

Thanks!
Steven S

Jolee,

I am going to try to make it to the game, it depends on the life stuff this week. I know it will be a blast!

Hope everyone had a great weekend. I went to Chapel Hill Friday night and then to the UNC game on Saturday so that meant I had to vacuum the house, dust the furniture, mow the grass, and clean the garage Sunday as payback for my two days of fun stuff. I don't remember all that in the marriage contract. I guess I could just say no! :-) Sean is there extra room in that cardboard box?

Can't wait to see everyone Friday, we need to come up with a central meeting spot so no matter where people park they can wander over and meet up.

Jolee Clarke (Preston)

Steve,

I had to laugh...you must have missed a few posts to the message forum. The mexican restaurant couldnt hold 60-100 of us...that includes families...so we are all going to tailgate...bring your own good, etc. and just mingle.

Faye,
Do you think whomever you spoke to about a tour of the school may still be able to do it? We would have time now...ya think? Around 6:30? Lemme know your thoughts.

I went by the school this past weekend...and the parking lot still has a HUGE area fenced off for construction overflow debris and trailers...I don't see that getting cleaned up by this weekend. The parking is going to be all over the place...I'm trying to think of a location and a time where we all could meet to get the hoodies, CD's, etc. It may wind up being at someone's car or truck!

:)

I do know that I spent 4 hours yesterday taking my cd's and loading songs from them into iTunes, to then put on my iPod...so no matter where we wind up, even if it's a hayfield...we will have some AWESOME tunes...

Kristin Fisher (Rush)

I think that if we all get there early enough (530 or so) we may be able to steak out a place and all be together. How about in front of the middle school. Does anyone regularly go to the NHS game and know when people start to file in? Do the NHS parents tailgate? I know that Cave Spring does, they start arriving at the parking lot around 6. With it being homecoming it may be even earlier. Just some thoughts! Oh and if we have the tour at 630 does that mean we cant consume alcoholic beverages until afterwards? hee hee!

10/13/08 12:51 PM #760

Vicky Lakes (Fuller)

Yea, It's been awhile, but what about the middle school lot. I have no problems walking to the HS, since it will be a dry game..that is unless Shannon is bringing enough 7-11 cups with her margarita slurpees for everyone...

10/13/08 12:51 PM #761

Greg Terry

I'm not sure it would matter. Most of us were under the influence the whole time we were there anyway!

10/13/08 02:17 PM #762

Trina Schossow (Folden)

Now, now Greg...some of us were in the band and had to wait until AFTER the game to drink!! Okay granted, usually had it in the car to drink in the parking lot after the game - I guess it is the same thing.

I think Kristin has a good idea, early and at the Middle School.

Shannon/Kelly...I'm planning to take off early on Friday, so I can be ready anytime after school is out (will have to transport children to the in-laws). Are we planning our food items, or picking something up on the way?? I'm good for either...love to tailgate!!

I selected on the "unknown" tab on the home page under the category of where are our classmates, and I cannot believe how many classmates have NOT joined this forum and updated their profile. I know where some of them are (most are still in Roanoke). So, do you think that they just haven't heard of the website, or do you think that they just don't care to have their information put on here?

10/13/08 02:49 PM #764

Trina Schossow (Folden)

Kristen...I think it is some of both. I think there are several that are out there as ghost readers (you only have to sign in to post). I think for some others, they think it is still like high school. My Rob is running into that planning his 25th reunion for this weekend. Some alumni won't attend if someone else is planning to, etc. It is sad, and I feel those people are just missing out. I've had a blast reconnecting with everyone and will continue to go to any and all gatherings planned!!

I think 5:30 near the middle school is good too. We are planning to grab Subway subs on the way.
