I notice it's kind of quiet out here today and my first thought was that it's because a lot of people are actually working or a good number of you are travelling here and there. But as I continued to ponder the inactivity of the message board I realized that some of you may be in shock over the song I posted. I see now how it may have been in poor taste because some of you may have had a Grandma who was actually ran over by a reindeer. To all of you out there whose Grandmother's were sadly struck down by this jolly old elf and his beasts of speed, I sincerely apologize and I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to all! I guess I could be considered a ghost reader; although, I do post from time to time...

Guess I will not be running into most after this Spring as I just got word that I will be assisting in the opening of the new Macado's in Lexington next month then traveling around to the different stores for a couple of months before moving to Bristol in February or March to open the next Macado's as GM.

Getting some folks together on Monday, December 8th, to see Scott H. Biram (www.scottbiram.com or www.myspace.com/scotthbiram) play @ Martin's and to say some goodbyes so if anyone would like to come, please feel free.

Again, hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving from the Nicely Family!

Trooper Brown~ If you are one of the 75% of Virginia troopers who are working today, I want to thank you for doing your job. I also hope if you see a red blur go by you, you will remember this nice note I posted.

To all other fire, police, rescue, nursing, or medical professions who may be out there today...thank you! I have worked many Thanksgiving and Christmases as an RN and it is hard to be away from your family. However, the reason you are in this profession lies in those you help every day.

Happy Turkey Day everybody! Hope to see you tomorrow night at Lugars!

Tony~ We will certainly miss you but it sounds like this is a wonderful opportunity for you!!

Ditto to what Jolee said. Also to all of our Military members out there, thank you. I too have stood that watch on Thanksgiving or Christmas Day when you would rather be with your family. Your sacrifice is greatly appreciated.

Jolee Clarke (Preston)

Thanks Greg...I certainly didnt mean to leave out our military members...I actually posted that message after watching the evening news with all of the military celebrating Thanksgiving abroad...and the story of how 75% of Va's state troopers were working yesterday. I think I saw 70% of those 75 yesterday...whew!

I had a great Tgiving. We spent the day with Johnny's parents, sisters, their kids, their kid's babies, all the nephews who are in college, etc. THAT to me is Tgiving...just eating, hanging out, watching the cutie patootie 20-somethings throw the football. It just doesnt get any better.

Kenzie had a big day too. She actually went with her dad for dinner. She hadn't seen him since he "stopped by" during her 5 day ordeal with meningitis back in July. We met and he took her to his dad's new 1/4 million dollar condo near the hospital....it was there she got to meet not only her dad's new #4,590,258 girlfriend Trish, but also her Poppy's new wife...Dr. Betty Carmichael. It was a little overwhelming and at first she wasnt going to go because of the new "ladies." I encouraged her to go and told her that if she wanted to see her dad and poppy, she was just going to have to get used to the idea that there were women involved...and to killlll them with kindness. Who knows, she may even LIKE them?!?!?

So the day went well...started dragging out Christmas...I'll post some of our dysfunctional family pics...my beautiful family...I am quite lucky.

See you all soon!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Mine was great. I cooked the turkey and took it to my best friend's house. She made all of the sides. Her family, her sister and I were there. Talked to Mr. Dyer yesterday (that's her dad) He sounded great! I will get to see him over Christmas and he said to tell everyone hello! He remembers a lot of us..not sure if that's good or bad.

Great news...TIM is in the states! He made it to Mississippi late Wednesday night. That made Thanksgiving very very happy! He is dealing with a lot as most military members do. He said the hardest part was his roommate he had while over there was in his words "blown up" but he survived. He said he is full of metal but he made it and came home a few months ago. I am sure he has more stories that I dont really want to know but I am glad that he's talking! He flies to Roanoke on Monday then he comes to see me December 14th.I can't wait.

It has been a great week out of school..but ready to get back for 3 weeks then it's Christmas Break!

Thanks to all the firefighters, EMS, nurses, doctors, and military members for your service! My brother worked yesterday but they had a huge feast for the guys, girls and family. My dad joined them so that was good!

You guys be careful at Steph's tonight. Take lots of pictures and share!

Kristen...you and Steve drive safe..we will talk this week and catch up!

Vicky..what's up girlie? How's John feeling? hope everyone is great!

Last minute change of plans so I don't think I'm going to make it tonight. I hope you guys have a great time and let me know if anyone wants to do lunch next week. I need to get my Martin's fix on.

DJ Gt~ Nothing like standing us all up...the party did go on..you know, we are dealing with Lugar the Cougar here. She never lets anyone go home unhappy. We did ask where you were.

Kelly HB~ Sorry you weren't feeling well. We all asked about you as well. Missed you incredibly.

Susie~ I'm sooooo glad your Tim Man is in the states. I can't imagine the relief you and his family feel knowing he is on American soil. Is he one of many coming home on Monday through Roanoke? I sure do hope that there are lots of people at the airport to welcome him/them. Is he from Roanoke? Can't wait to see you at Christmas!

To anyone who missed Stef's last night...she is a wonderful host to open her home to us. I did, in fact, volunteer the use of her home for Christmas as well....so we'll be picking a day soon. She said it was all good with her...so we'll think about it and plan it.

It was a great evening and it just makes me love our class more.

Tara/Steve Jones~ Will you let me know where you get your bullet-proof vests...I want to get one for Johnny for Christmas...bulk him up a little.

GT/BT~ As always, I love being around you two. BT, maybe you should have made a career in poker, being a "player" and all..lol! GT~Your wife looked exceptionally lovely tonight...thank her again for coming to Stef's little soiree.

Clinebell~ Loved hanging out with you. Johnny had a good time too...and I think you had a lot to do with it.

Marion & Ed~You two rock! So much fun catching up with you! Such Supuhstahs! Love ya!

Lugar the Cougar~ How could I have picked such a fitting name....but honestly, you are the best...thanks soooo much for opening your beautiful home up to us. I had a great time. Hope you and Laura have fun at VT...send pics of the motor home or van you two wind up in today.

Vicky Lakes (Fuller)

Hey All, hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving.

Susie - Glad Tim made it home...John is doing better each day, thanks for asking. I'm starting to put him to work around the house...no more slacking off.

Jolee, just noticed the 1988 history tab, that's cool...wow, really puts things in perspective when you look at the costs of then and now. The video clips are great too. Thanks for the hard work.

Safe travels to all going home this weekend.

Kristen WB - We'll try and hook up when you get back. Hope you all got over the "sickness".

Steph,

You are the hostess with the mostess, thanks for having us over. We had a great time visiting with everyone. I always feel like the special nerd that gets to hang with the cool kids when we get together.

Jolee, even though we have many other cutie pootie couples in our midst, I have to give you and the Johnnymaster the "cutest couple award" you and he are a hoot!

Eric, hope I didn't talk Debbie's ears off last night.
Debbie is so sweet and fun! You boys getting together tonight be careful and stay safe.

Laura, seriously put on your calendar girls weekend in Jan. You are so funny, it would be a riot to have you go. You just tell the Karens how much fun they miss out on and maybe they will come out at Christmas.

Missed out on the Karoke but maybe I can find one for our Christmas get together. I have a small one at home but I am not sure it could handle it. Am I the only one who likes Karoke............although still waiting on those redneck woman lyrics from DJ Greg so I can get the vocals ready.....:)

Saturday after thanksgiving last year my dad passed away and I thought this week would be so horrible that I would not want to get together with anyone but last night was so fun. This morning I woke up thinking how lucky I feel to have reconnected with so many people that I had lost touch with thru the years. You know we are of an age where we will start losing parents and things and its nice to have one another to help us thru those difficult times. Thank you for being a special blessing to me and making this thanksgiving holiday nice. Good luck today with everyone's games, shopping, and decorating. Make it a great day and see you soon!

Vicky~ Thanks for the complement on the home page. I do like to mix it up, to keep interest perked. Also, the creators of this site are FABU-U-LOUS. They are the ones constantly upgrading the opportunities for such things as the history box. They send me emails at least once a week describing "new" features. There are so many new things, I can't keep up!

Faye~ You have never been, nor ever will be a nerd! Quite the opposite! Johnny and I absolutely have a great time together...we have sooo much to laugh about in life. I'm sorry this week is a reminder of your loss. I'm sure it's truly difficult. But I am very glad that you came out to hang out. It wouldn't be the same without you!

Watching the VT/UVa game...going to go turn the heating blanket on and watch it with my eyes closed!!

Susan Jones (Badger)

Jolee..Tim is hoping to come home to Roanoke tomorrow (Sunday) but the printer went down so printing orders have halted. Crazy. So hopefully if not tomorrow then yes Monday he will be landing in Roanoke. I hope there are a lot of people there too!

Vicky..glad to hear John is better..be nice to him it's the holidays!

Faye..sorry to hear about your loss. I can not imagine how you feel because my dad is my best friend but so happy that reconnecting with our class has made it a little easier for you!

3 weeks and it's Christmas break..my kids at school are going to love the countdown. We should be there the evening of the 20th...Kristen and I are suppose to get together on Sunday morning for breakfast...let me know what everyone is planning that week. I am so excited..

I never thought I would ever be excited about going to Roanoke Virginia for Christmas! Home sweet home!

hey guys,
open call to hang out here. i'm coming to roanoke sometime over the holidays. question for all you locals. where's the place to go and hang out in roanoke (besides lugar's place, which sounds quite hospitable). it's changed so much since i left in early 2000s. good food? good drinks?

11/29/08 08:24 PM #1357

Jolee Clarke (Preston)

Troy,
I'm more of the "elderly" type now...don't get out to all of the new hot spots that Roanoke DOES have. The art museum looks beautiful, would like to see that sometime. Also some of the newer spots are Martin's (awesome food and our classmate, Tony Bond works there), Blue5, 202Market, and Metro. Most of those places have their own websites...so you can take a quick peek. I'm sure there are more...Corned Beef is the back up if you want to dance...Awful Arthur's if you want to fight. Pick your poison!

Faye- Girl! You are great!!!! I loved talking to you and hearing your funny stories. I also love the fact that you are so bold!!! I wish I had gotten to know you a long time ago. You are also very kind. I guess it's the holidays that bring that out in you bc we all know how mean you really are. I ditto Susie on the dad comment. My dad is my best friend and he is incredible. I can't imagine losing him but I agree with you, it is great to know that we are surrounded by caring people. I'm glad today was a good day for you. Let's get together for lunch/dinner sometime soon. By the way, did you google "camel---" today? Also, you should know, I changed my will and made you Tanners godmother and Erik G. Elliotts godfather.

Jolee- You're welcome!!! Thanks for bringing Johnny out last night. He is so funny and I'm glad to know he came out of his fish bowl for the party. Bitch!!! I won't forget that one. Dumbass is ok though rite? Ok, I'll remember that. My house is fine for Christmas. No problemo!!! Just let me know which night. I txt'd you back today but just realized that it didn't send. Sorry.

Greg-I tried so hard to cancel the party once I saw you weren't gonna make it but Jolee said it would be more fun without you anyway so unfortunately, it did go on.

Tara(Steve Jones's wife)- Thanks for keeping up with this forum so that Steve can act like he knows whats going on. Let me know when you wanna paint.

Shannon-Glad you were able to join us via phone last night.

Marion, Erik and Laura-Thanks for the wine. Those 3 bottles should get me through the weekend.

Jolee and Faye-Thanks for the additional foods. Faye the cheeseball was excellent. I ate more of it tonight and I haven't tried the other dip yet but I'm sure it's just as good! Oh and the dipped pretzels and cookies, yummmm!!! I ate those til bedtime last night. Will you teach me to cook please? Jolee- the shrimp you made, oh my gosh, I have never tasted anything like it. can I get the recipe?

The VT Game today was a blast. It was hard getting up at 6:30 am after last night but well worth it. It was cold but not like last weekend. Once again, we were tailgating with people that had a van but this one didn't have the movie theater floor lights. Not nearly as nice as the conversion van. Clinebell held me up and I didn't make it to my seat until halftime again. I didn't need to change cloths in anyones van, RV, etc.... Nor did Laura wrap herself around any strangers BUT I do have some really good pic.s that I will be happy to share.

Jolee Clarke (Preston)

Lugar~ You make me laugh out loud. Johnny said he really liked you...but your jeans were a little tight last night. That's why he kept dropping things...to see if you would pick them up...you a suckah! He also said to ask you if you liked Sharon Peters? I think Anders said you did...

You're the one who said Greg made you nervous with his "goods." Don't bring me in on this!

As for the shrimp recipe, I got them right out of our fish pond that we keep up on the deck of the school bus out back. Once the algae clears with the chemicals I put in, they rise to the top and are ripe for pickin'! Oh, BTW, my step-son Joey said he would love to take you out. He's 25...saw your pic on the computer and said he knew you?!?!

11/30/08 03:26 PM #1361

jolee...thx for the info. i'll check these places out.

To those I saw Friday night, it was a great chance to catch up! I was going to tell the story of Steve Jones having his nails done at the mall that day to prep for the big get together...but I'll just leave that alone..for now. ;-) I am staying away from parking my cars in leaves, thanks Steve for the tip! Several of you I hadnt seen in 20 years as I missed the reunions and recent homecoming game event. TECH UPDATE--FOR THE RECORD: we didnt get inside a van yesterday, we just posed at the back door of a shiny whte rented conversion van, aka pedophile van. Believe it or not, Andres added me to his facebook today, I'm honored of course. Thanks Stefanie for your home to go down memory lane--I didnt make your dogs sick with all the food I gave them..did I? Hope we can line something up for Christmas time. Faye, thank you for the being YOU! Kristen B, thanks for the tickets you sold us. Really appreciate it and hope you are feeling better.

11/30/08 04:50 PM #1363

Laura Clinebell

..and who is going to post a picture of the group Olan Mills photo shoot we had friday night? we sure took enough...with several cameras...special thanks to Ed (Marion's husband) for climbing the steps to get the "angle effect"..

11/30/08 04:59 PM #1364

Stefanie Lugar

Laura- My dogs have been sick all weekend bc of the food you gave them. I think it was the shrimp Jolee made. Only kidding Clinebell. They love when they get human food bc their mom doesn't cook. Oh and I can still see the skid marks in the 5 feet of leaves in the street. Nice job Elliott Sadler.
