OMG people...well, if you look at the time, you will see that I have been determined to get my iTunes songs transferred to my laptop. What an ordeal. I finally got my new portable hard drive to accept the entire iTunes file and then I copied and pasted it....whhheeewwwww...I'm listening to my man, Keith Urban, right now...I knew he could calm me down!!

Oh, and from one leo to another...thanks Ang for all your help...XOXOXO!!!!

Okay, so for lunch tomorrow...Me, Tim Wickline, Steve Jones, Carla, ?!?!

Lunch Crowd - can't make today, leaving early to get my hair done, I need it, as it's been MONTHS! Will probably have to take my Lexi with me as I attempted to give her a "home cut" the other night and managed to screw up her gorgeous, long, golden locks...oops.

Vicky - add me to the cheerleading section. My only resolutions for 2009...be a better wife and mother.

Raleigh Girls - have a blast this weekend and raise a toast to those of us who couldn't make it, but are with you in thought. Have fun and BE SAFE!!

Jolee - girl, I'm glad that you got your music back!! I miss you too.

Amy WM - Keep it up girl!! I don't smoke, but might try Troy's kiss technique anyway!

Jolee --- Okay, we can be the Biggest Loser fans of all time. I love that show too. I just admire those people so much for working so hard. Trust me, I hate to admit it, but I would be one of those contestants who whine about it being too hard. :) I hope that your computer is working much better for you. I love computers but I hate them too!!!!

Amy --- The 20lbs is all extra fat that I really don't need to be carrying around. I would be happy just to trim up my mid section and my thighs. And if that is only 5 lbs then I would be happy with that too. I just know that my body can't handle any extra weight. This last baby proved that to me because I had more aches and pains with this past pregnancy than before. My goal is to lose about 3-4 lbs a month and KEEP it off. I stay pretty busy (I'm not on the couch eating bon bons), but I need to actually exercise. I am really cheering you on about the smoking habit. I admire you AND I know that you can do it. Since your kids are such a huge influence on you, maybe every time you feel that urge, you should look at their picture, and know that you are making the best decision. But, as far as those horrendous cravings go, then go with Troy's advice. He has been there, done that. And I think that he has some GREAT advice!

Trina --- I agree with you. I think that I am a pretty good mom and wife, but there is always room for improvement. :)

Vicky --- Since you are inviting us, then we would love to come over. We can get together soon. And yes, I will be having classes on Tuesday nights. From 7:15 - 10:00pm. I have the catalogs for you, but they are for the Graduate program. Is this what you need?

Jolee ~ I'll see you at the Palace!

Stef ~ Commercial shoot got changed to tomorrow. I'm actually still looking for a couple. One guy said that things between him and his wife were too up in the air right now for them to have to see a commercial of them "together" all year.... I'm going to have to reject your offer to "star" in my commercial. It's being ran during Today show, evening news, and etc.... I don't know if my staff could handle the calls coming into my office asking me to speak with "the girl in the commercial". If I decide to start running some late night commercials on Cinemax then I'll call you first!

Greg T ~ Forward your phones to my office and I'll have one of my staff sit in as you on your conference call.

Vicky ~ Thanks for posting the recipe. I love to cook so I'll give it a shot! I put together a cook book, Selkirk's Eats, last year with a hundred of so of my favorite recipes. I have my own Taco soup that's in it but if it's good I might add yours in and give you props. If you have a sweet tooth I just did a cake last week that was toooooo good. If your nice I might share. It's a blackberry cake that I've worked on for a while. It ends up tasting like a lil debbie raspberry zinger. It's awesome!

Kristen - We will set a date. This weekend John and Jess are away on a mission trip to NY and next weekend we have his dad and step mother in from Boston. But we will figure out something SOON!

Todd - Too bad we aren't local we could be in your commerical;). John and I have been State Farm customers for over 18 years at least...and even after 19 years we're still hot for each other. LOL. As for the recipe, try it, you'll love it. I don't always adhere to the fat free part, and I don't count calories or carbs...so it's all GOOD. Would love a copy of your recipe book....I love blackberries.

Trina - Yes, we will be the cheerleaders...as for Lexi's hair, been there, done that. The only kid I do myself is Zach..clippers are wonderful.

Amy - Hang In There.. Go kiss your kids, then clean something.

01/08/09 11:21 AM #1724

Trina Schossow (Folden)

Vick - boy hair is a piece of cake. Put a chair outside, clip on the #2 blade and go to town!!!

Todd - do you think you could start a carside dinner pick up service? 100 recipes?? Hidden talents abound. Not sure how much longer my family will be happy with a "a box, a bag, and something from the fridge" = standard dinner at the Folden house.

Jolee Clarke (Preston)

Todd~ See you there!!

DJ GT~ I like Todd's idea...

GT/BT~ Where are you two?

Amy WM~ Try, try, try..go girl!

I think I'm getting the hang of the mac...I was up till 2am and then got up at 7 to wait for Kenzie to get home from the UNC game with her dad. Things went will and she had a great time. That is the first time in years she has actually spent the night in the same place with him. She was really happy when she touched base here at the house before he took her on to Salem. Mom's and Dad's...you have no idea how the simple things mean so much to a kid. Even if you are a part-time parent (and I was for many years while in nursing school), do not EVER feel like they don't want to hear from you...

Heading out to go eat some chinese!! Call or text me if you want me to save you a seat!! 540-493-4320!

Jolee Clarke (Preston)

Trina~ Hope you can come out and play sooooon!

01/08/09 11:42 AM #1727

Troy Davis

Jolee, you got a mac. congratulations! You're life will now become so much easier. I've got a few of them at home and 2 on my desk at work and manage all the production studio spaces that I insisted had to be MAC only. Feel free to contact me with any questions, but eventually you won't have any. Macs just work, period. I've left mine on for 6 months without rebooting before. Now that you no longer have to do that control / alt / delete thing on a PC every 5 minutes and no longer have to worry about viruses or crappy software, you'll have more time to ride your bike. :)

01/08/09 11:47 AM #1728

Amy Wilhelm (McGuirt)

Thanks all for the continued support :)
Vicky~ Thanks for the recipe!! I'm always up to try something new and it sounds awesome!!
Todd~ I too would love some of your recipe's!! Send them on!!

Lunch Crew- Sorry I couldn't make it today. It's probably a good thing as I can't avoid the fried stuff on the buffet like the sesame chicken, general tso's, egg rolls, etc. I'll make every effort to get to the next one thou.

Vicky- Thanks for the recipe…it's sounds good. My wife likes the Tortilla Soup at Panera Bread so we tried creating it at home but the recipe we used was just ok. It didn’t call for refried beans so that must be the missing ingredient.

Todd- I’m another dude who likes to cook so I hope you’ll share your blackberry cake recipe.

Amy- when I first quit smoking, the urge to do it when drinking was TOUGH. I fell off the wagon a time or two but it got easier & I haven’t had a puff in over 16 years. Hang in there!

Jolee- Amen on the simple things meaning the most to kids! Sure they want cell phones & ipods, but what they want the most is time with their parents (even if they won’t admit it) & knowing that they have our unconditional love.

Troy- let’s get together when you come to the ‘Noke, my brotha.

Susie- I will be praying for your dad. I hope his test on the 20th brings good news.

The key to that soup is definately in the salsa. Make sure it's chucky (not flavored like peach or anything) and at least medium, but don't be scared to try it with hot. I've never used the baked chips, always used what was on hand. It's good with the sour cream on top.

Perhaps with all these "male cooks" we could get some sort of recipe swap thing going on...I know my kids would be up for a change of pace. John used to do most of the cooking (I loved coming home to dinner on the table)...but now he's in class 3 nights a week and Youth on Wednesdays..

Man, you guys really know how to cook!!!!!!!

Each year, my side of the family gets together several times during the year, and everyone brings such delicious meals. Matter of fact, most of them have been handed down from generation to generation. The problem is: No one has written down the recipe. So, this year, our family members are writing down the recipes as they make each dish, and we are putting together a "family" recipe book to hand down to our children. I absolutely love this idea. Too bad my mom didn't think about doing this, because I would have LOVED to have several recipes that her and my grandmother use to make.

Besides the girls trip this weekend (I am so jealous that I can't be with ya'll), is anyone else have big plans?

Kristen Witt (Bray)

Okay, I am posing a question: I am sure that all of you have heard about the man who gave his wife a kidney. Well, now she has broken his heart, and he wants his kidney back or $1.5 million. My question is: (a) what is he going to do with a kidney that he can't use anymore? (I am assuming that they can't put the kidney back in him since it is twice used). and (b) if she did give him money for the kidney, isn't it illegal to "sell" an organ?

Lunch was great and the company was even better! It was so good to see Todd, Tim, Carla, and my buddy Steve Jones. We did get a picture (I have to keep up with Lugar), which I will post later. I love our lunch club...to those who couldnt come, we definitely missed you and hope you can join us next time!

Off to Kenzie's basketball game...then packing for RALEIGH!! Yayyyy! There will be pics and videos...when we return...hopefully, no mug shots.

Todd - A huge thanks. When you have your own show on the Food Network it will be worth millions :)

Thank you Todd :)

Carla Boyd (McCabe)

Lunch was fun! Hope to do that again soon.
I have decided that I am no longer "holding" any sweatshirts. They will be sold first come, first serve.
Todd...that means I have come up with a shirt that will fit you. You too, Tim...or you can get Todd's first one.
Here is what is left...
1 small
1 medium
6 large
4 XL
2 2XL
That is over $280 in shirts that I am anxious to unload.
Thanks to those of you who have been prompt and especially those who have bought extras to try and help me.

01/08/09 08:33 PM #1737

Amy Wilhelm (McGuirt)

Hey Carla~ I got my t-shirt today!!! Thanks a bunch :)

01/08/09 08:48 PM #1738

Tim Wickline

I had a great time at lunch today with the lunch crew. Was good to see Todd, Steve, Jolee, and Carla. Lots of good food and laughter. Hope to do that again in the future.

Carla...let me know the prices of the shirts and I'll catch up with you to help unload some of them. Sorry you have had so much trouble but your efforts and good heartedness is GREATLY appreciated.

Best wishes for those going on the Raleigh trip. I know you guys will have a lot of fun. Drive safely.

Jolee ~ You're so hott! It was really good to see you today! I'm stoked to know you! If we hadn't eaten so much I was going to suggest a good ol fashion run across game in the Palace parking lot!

Lunch Crew ~ It was nice seeing each of you today. Thanks for letting me vent! Carla, Jolee and Tim you guys got out just in time. When I went to leave Jones had parked sideways blocking the exit. The next thing I knew cops were everywhere.....I took the 'hoe over the curb and got the heck out. One of the cooks from the Palace had come out (all 87 pounds of him) and was trying to go Bruce Lee on Steve....

Amy & Vicky ~ I forgot to tell you the Pecan Pie Muffins are incredible! People beg us to fix them. It takes a while to perfect them but it's so worth it. You can them in your freezer and they keep forever. Also, with the blackberry cake you may have to cook them a little longer than it says. I will enjoy saying this, but the best thing to do is take them out of the oven and put your hand on them to test the firmness..... Basically a "first base" kind of thing!

Trina ~ My 6 year old son loves to come up with his own recipes, too. I think you may need to start off with one of his favorites. As he wrote:
Cheez It Casserole
A lot of Cheez Its
Goldfish Crackers
Kraft Easy Cheese (squirtable)
And 3 Mickey Mouse Cheeses

Kristen ~ The kidney thing... Look at it this way, they used to stay up all night talking to each other when they first started dating! Secondly, I don't think John Bobbitt was even given 1.5M for the organ his wife took. But then again I guess it was hers for the taking....

01/08/09 09:50 PM #1740

Vicky Lakes (Fuller)

Todd, I will try the pecan muffins, but I have a pumpkin chocolate chip walnut muffin that is to die for. Although I only make them in the fall...go figure.

This weekend I am trying out a coconut pie recipe I came across...if it turns out any good I will post it for you.

Kristen - Regarding Family Recipes. Anyone that knows me, knows I have nothing but praise for my mother in law (Yes I am lucky) About 10 years or so ago she gave me and each of John's sisters a recipe book. It was a Hallmark Recipe 3 ring binder with lined pages and dividers and then plastic sleeves for recipe cards. She hand wrote out all the family favorite recipes and who they originated from. Yes she actually hand wrote each page three times, one for each of us. Fortunately she has very nice handwriting. Under the "source" she would put stuff like John's mother. Or Sylvia, Avid card player, or Sylvia, Jessica's grandmother. It was the best present I have ever received from her. It has something like 50 recipes in it.
