Faye Sowers (Crute)

It was a wonderful weekend, it was fun bonding with everyone. Lots of laughs and great memories!

Vicky, I am a very boring person but learned lots this weekend...........I saw little Ken's post and had to give an update.

Shannon thanks for being such a great roomie! Girl I am still in awe of your energy. You are a great hostess, thanks for doing such great planning.

Vicky Lakes (Fuller)

Faye, you're not boring, you're just like all the rest of us..faithful ;) Glad you guys had a nice time...and i would have been on the red eye home myself. Every time I would fly to Destin to visit my friend I'd be up at 6 and ready to go out for breakfast and she'd be sound asleep until like 10.

Sharon Underwood (Ramsey)

Jolee, Shannon, Kelly, Stef, Faye~ It was so much fun getting together with you all. It was really nice seeing everyone and getting to catch up. You all were so kind! I'm glad you guys decided to come to Raleigh and hopefully I'll be able to meet up with eveyone again in Roanoke sometime.

Jolee Clarke (Preston)

So here are some things I learned this weekend:

1.) Shannon Nuckolls is the BEST hostess ever. Thanks for arranging all of the weekend for us! You are so much fun to be around and talk to!

2.) You are still Turbo to me Faye! Sorry to have gotten you so upset about the reality of the teenage years of girls. I do hope that all your wisdom and guidance are what Maggie listens to. It fell on deaf ears in my home...and I think 9.2 million other teen girls. Also, I think the Secret Service is looking for some Top Secret large, metal box sort of defense mechanism...they said it may be disguised as a makeup case!

3.) Stef~ You just crack me up!! There needs to be one more time zone added to the North American time...that would be "in Stefanie Time." You truly make me want to pee my pants when I am around you.

4.) Kelly~ I hope you get the sleep you didn't get this weekend. You are a hard worker and a person I feel so compelled to spill my guts to. Sorry for that burden.

5.) Amy Beale~ It was so good to see you. I felt like it was yesterday in Mr. Poff's gym class and we should have had our navy blue and white gym suits on. You have so much to be proud of in your life and congrats again on Brandon's promotion. Hope to see you soon!

6.) If there was ever the sweetest version of an angel on earth it has to be Sharon Underwood. You HAVE to have wings...you have such a peaceful strength in that tiny little body of yours. I really enjoyed talking to you for the hour and a half we were waiting on Lugar. Ha ha! And thanks for the rides back to the hotel...I know you needed to drive back home. When your boys get older, you should definitely think of going back into nursing. I cannot think of a better person to calm little sick babies down with that sweet voice of yours. I bet you are an amazing nurse...think about it.

7.) I learned that not everyone has my military outlook on venturing out and group activities. That when you have 6 different women Jolee, you may have 6 different plans.

8.) That our brains may think we are 21, but our bodies are tired, weary, and ready for "sleepy pants" and a bed when the sun starts going down. We are a claustrophobic group, not wanting anyone on top of us.

9.) That ANYTHING can happen in a bar in Raleigh and it was funny how we all stopped in a line to watch.

10.) That I do not know Raleigh as well as I would like to. Roads, locations, etc.

11.) That we still owe Faye an outing with karaoke...we fizzled down hard last night....

12.) The pillow fight pics will always remain sealed and in a steel vault.

Had a great time...learned more than what I could put down on here...but really love all of you girls!

Jolee- I would really like to have my own time zone but couldn't get it approved. How's your blood pressure? Hope it's ok now. Mine is still 94/60, yeah I think I'm still alive. Remember, don't sweat the small stuff sista', life is too short.

Kelly-Thanks for being a great roommate. Glad to know we are 2 peas in a pod, I think.

Shannon- Thanks for everything. You are wonderful!

Sharon- Great seeing you!!! You are the best!

Faye- Your name should have been sparky! Love your way of thinking. Thanks for the laughs.

I'm posting SOME pix from the weekend but many aren't going anywhere unless they are purchased for a pretty hefty price.

Kristen Witt (Bray)

Vicky --- I think that I counted about 10 snowflakes here. I am ready for some snow, but as soon as I say that, we will get about 10 feet of it, and I will be praying that I never see snow again. Hee~hee. I guess it is "watch what you wish for" type of situation. This Friday is suppose to be frigid. I wish that they would close schools just so I can have it as a "stay inside" day without worrying about going out at ALL!!! I know, when it comes to cold weather, I am a wuss!!!!! Snow is one thing, bitter cold is another.

I am glad that all of you "Raleigh" girls had a good time and a safe trip. I can't wait to join you one day. Heck, by that time, Stef and the rest of you party animals will start acting like a "grandma" and then I will have no one to play with. :(

Okay, I'm off to take the kids to the bus stop. I hope that everyone has a great week!!!!!!!!!!

Vicky-

We made the Tortilla Soup yesterday & it is GOOD! Thanks for sharing....definitely a keeper. Here's one that everyone in our house loves:

Chicken Con Queso

3 lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts (frozen)
2 cans corn (drained)
2 cans black beans (drained but not rinsed)
1 16 oz jar salsa
1 package Hidden Valley Ranch dressing mix
1 package taco seasoning mix

Put above into crock pot in order listed & cook on low for 6-7 hours. Stir, breaking up the chicken, then add a block of cream cheese & cook additional hour or until cheese has melted completely. Serve with rice. Yum!

This is quick, easy, & makes enough for leftovers.

Vicky Lakes (Fuller)

Erik - Glad you liked it. Doesn't make as much as you would think, but it is definately comfort food.

Thanks for the new recipe...will definately have to try that one out. So you don't cook the chicken ahead of time? you throw it in there frozen?

01/12/09 01:48 PM #1774

Erik Goacher

Vicky-

Yep, the chicken goes in frozen...makes it super easy.

Stef --- what were you really thinking of when you were eating that piece of cake? Looks a little seductive!!!!!!!!!! But, doesn't chocolate do that to a person anyway?!?!?!?!??!

Great pics you guys. Ya'll are soooooooo photogenic!

Okay, I am going to try some of those yummy recipes that ya'll have posted. Wish me luck. Let me see, can I find the recipe on how to boil water......hey, Stef, can you still remember how to turn your oven on? Hee~hee!!! You know how much I luv ya!!!!!!

Shannon Davis (Nuckolls)

Thank you girls for coming down to "my neck of the woods" this weekend. I have not laughed so hard in a long time. It seemed like someone was saying something funny every 2 minutes. I love each of you! Jolee~your friend DeeDee was nice & fit right in.

I learned: 1)I must be cheap & want free stuff all the time. I kept bugging Kelly & Stef to get to the hotel lobby for the free drinks at night & free breakfast. Then I mentioned one day at Streets at Southpoint a man was handing out free can Sierra Mist drinks at one of the doors. Stefanie wasn't surprised I remembered. Hey I got a free night at the hotel too! Our carpet became wet in the hallway from the bathtub leaking. I notified the front desk, they sent a maintence fellow up, then I told the MOD (manager on duty) when I checked out & she refunded one nights stay for our inconvenience.
2)Faye & Stefanie never read "Are you there God, it's me Margaret" in Jr. High. They both had never heard of it. Faye thought it was a current devotional book. She was going to purchase it at the Christian Book Store.
3)We all loved our "Thanksgiving" Italian Meal at Maggianos at Streets at Southpoint. We walked in the place at 1:40 & did not leave until almost 4pm!!
4)Kelly & I enjoyed the same TV shows growing up like "Threes Company" & "Little House on the Prairie."
5)Jolee is good at taking pictures & tried to get us in a pyramid outside at the huge mall. I was afraid to get on top-we would have all fallen over into the fountain for sure.

Amy & Sharon~Thanks for meeting us-it was fun to visit & eat!

I made it to "Butts & Guts" & Cycling class today to try to counteract some of what I ate this weekend.

Gotta go finish making dinner. Back to the real world-cooking, cleaning, & laundry.

Shannon Davis (Nuckolls)

PS~Faye-Thank you again for letting me borrow your brand new necklace & earrings Saturday night. I may have to go buy me one just like it. Stef~It wasn't on sale either, I'll have to pay full price!

01/12/09 06:30 PM #1780

Faye Sowers (Crute)

Thanks Shannon you just made everyone pee their pants about the book..............OMG I have learned so much this past weekend. Some I can repeat, others I can't repeat............well all I can say is between all these group visits maybe I will know what the heck Maggie is talking about before she becomes a teen. I have now learned more in 6 months than I knew my whole 38 years of life. That what friends are for.....I think....no I am joking........I call you thrifty and hey who doesn't love a good deal so no worries. Off to basketball you all be good now.

01/12/09 10:59 PM #1781

Stefanie Lugar

Shannon-Did you get the pix I sent you on your phone? I think you should wait til the necklace goes on sale. I love your thrifty ways. Don't change it!!! You are so cute and funny. Kelly and I made it home around 7:30 last night. Fun drive home eventhough we did get lost several times. We are very challenged in that way obviously. I am still laughing right now just thinking back about the weekend.

Kristen-I can't help it. I tend to have that look on my face a lot when there is a camera around. When I attended Gregs school for the film industry that was the first thing they taught us.

Troy- Where are you? We appreciated your text Sat. night or was it Fri. night? Well whenever it was we appreciated it.

Todd S.- Sorry we didn't get to chat w you Fri. night but we were thinking of you and we talked about you the entire weekend. Uuh huu!!

Ken H.- Thanks for checking on us. We wish you too had been there. Maybe next time. Ha.

Greg T.-Are you still upset that you were not included?

01/13/09 07:57 PM #1782

Troy Davis

you guys sound like you had fun. what an awesome experience!

and hey stef, thanks for the "rhetorical question" text back.

surely you guys have more pics that are more embarrassing?

Kristen Witt (Bray)

So, is it cold enough for everyone?!?!?!??!?!!?

Alright, I am starting to get the hang of Facebook. It is amazing what some people put on there. But, at the same time, it gives me a bunch of laughs.

I hope that everyone is having a great week!!!!

01/14/09 11:33 PM #1784

Shannon Davis (Nuckolls)

Greg~Did you bribe Johnny to put the hidden camera in Troby the Sock Monkey for the girls weekend? The picture of Troby on top of the cheesecake display case at The Cheesecake Factory was for you BTW.

Kristen & Vicky~Thanks for your fun comments over the weekend. We wish you could have been with us!

Trina~Hope your son's birthday party/weekend was great. We missed you too you know!

01/15/09 12:29 AM #1785

Kristen WB-Can't find you on FB. See if you can find me so I can add you.

01/15/09 08:25 AM #1787

Greg Terry

Happy Birthday Sharon!

01/15/09 09:09 AM #1788

Trina Schossow (Folden)

Raleigh Girls - welcome back to reality, and thanks for posting the pics. I love Troby!! He needs to come to all NHS events!

Kristen - Way too cold for my tastes. Spending my childhood in Illinois, I've seen all the snow and cold I ever want to see. I know the kids want it to snow, but I'm happy to have it just pass us by. I'm in Warrenton, VA today and it is only about 22 degrees here. Brrrrrr.

Shannon - we did have a good weekend, had one birthday party on Saturday with a finish at Kabuki...yum! Still have a family party to go yet (this weekend). The kid hasn't had a good birthday party in years, so I owe him one!! His sister got a bounce house at hers this past year, and he hasn't let me forget it!

Any lunch plans for next week?? I'm going to being telecommuting on Tuesdays and Thursdays (beginning next week), so I will have more available time for fun lunch outings.

Hope everyone has a great week!!

01/15/09 09:41 AM #1789

Sharon Underwood (Ramsey)

Stef and Greg~ Thanks for the birthday wishes!

Stef~ Hope I can stop by your house the next time we're in Roanoke. The boys are looking forward to meeting Tanner and Elliot. I think I've convinced Andrew that Tanner is real. See you soon!

01/15/09 02:58 PM #1790

Kristen Witt (Bray)

Sharon --- Your boys will love Stef's kids. My kids (8,7, 3, and 10 months) loved playing with her kids when we were there. And Stef's house is spotless. You don't see any toys (children's toys that is. As far as the other ones, well, I will keep that as a secret!) laying around the house even though she has kids!!!! And they love running and playing tag. Just make sure that your boys wear gripper socks or keep their shoes on. The floors can get slippery. The floors are great to do a "Tom Cruise" move on, but not good when you are running around a corner!

Stef --- So, when is your next party?

Shannon --- I really wish that I could have made the trip. We have had some really good times together and I know that we can have many more. Hopefully, once this little one grows up a little bit, then I will get away for the weekends more often. Right now, I am just lucky to get away for class each Tuesday night. Hee~hee.

Kelly HB --- Now that some time has passed, would you still like for me to get you a Phillies World Series Shirt?
