Trina Schossow (Folden)

I do not think I will be on Facebook as much as most people I know (including my husband-who is completely addicted). I sent requests to add several friends yesterday, but it is so time consuming to get set up.

I still love this site and that it is just us, so I'd like to see us still using this one as our main means to connect.

Anyone up for lunch this week? My only available days this week are tomorrow or Friday.

Kristen - Happy Birthday to your baby. Can't have another one for you...sorry!!

Vicky Lakes (Fuller)

I agree with you Jolee...(and I wasn't shaking my head at all..lol ) I don't think we should mainstream this into Facebook at all.. if only you could access this site via the blackberry...

Trina, FB is time consuming. So you traveling this week? We were talking about doing Busch Gardens over Spring Break..I need a coaster partner..especially for the Griffon that closed down as we were next in line...ugh..

Kristen - have you given any thoughts to any weekends you guys are free?

Trina Schossow (Folden)

Vicky - Only a day trip to Grundy this week, so not too bad. Another day trip next week to Warrenton, but that is about all the traveling for the month.

Not sure about spring break. I'm going on the trip of a lifetime in May with work...Italy, France and Monaco - so saving all I can for it. Almost everything is paid, but I feel much shopping will need to take place!! Keep me posted though, and maybe we can do both. There were LOTS of coaster I didn't get to ride while hanging out with the "chickens".

Lunch Crowd - I just had a cancellation on Wednesday, so that works for me now too...

I can do Friday....would love to!

Trina - oooo yea, I'd pass up Busch Gardens anyday for that European Vacation...take lots of pictures and do lots of shopping. I just figured if in your "many" travels for your job the next time you have to head out that way maybe we can work something out.

I see you ladies are planning another luncheon this week..so jealous...wish I could join you guys again.

Kristen - sorry, no babies here either...last one started K5, so I am so over the baby bug....perhaps you need to assist in your church nursery...that always cured it for me :)

Hey guys!

Hope everyone is doing well and keeping warm. :) I just finished reading an interesting book that is worthwhile: "The Fourth Turning" by Strauss and Howe. It was published in 1997 and makes the case for cross-generational patterns throughout American history. It points out that time follows seasonal highs and lows, and that with each new generation we forget the lessons of the oldest generations. (Hence, we tend to repeat the same mistakes as our forefathers.)

It breaks down generations into 4 distinct types which repeat in the same order throughout history. Our generation falls into the "Nomad" category - neglected by our free-spirit parents in our youth and generally known as troublemakers. Sounds about right, huh? :)

The book predicted the next "Crisis" era to start in 2005 +-3 years, following the same pattern of the American Revolution, Civil War and Depression/WWII, etc. before it. If the book is correct and the current crisis follows the patterns of history, we could be in for a really bumpy ride for the next 10-15 years.

Anyway, if you've read it or read it in the future - drop me a note or post on here- lot's of interesting tidbits in there to discuss.

If that's too gloomy for you, check out this video :) :

WOW Chris... that is an awesome video!! I just watched it with my 11 year old son and he was speechless!!! It made us both tear up! Thanks for sharing!!!

Vicky - You should be able to access this site from your Blackberry. I think Jolee gets on that way. I know I can access it from my iPhone.

Jolee - Friday might work for me on lunch just let us know where.

As for the facebook/forum debate, I agree we should try to make this thing last. A lot of people forget to check facebook and it can be tricky to navigate. This is a nice easy solution to keeping in touch. Just my thought.

As for Stef, the last I heard she was looking for land in Nicaragua. She said something about limited extradition and the FBI. Not sure what all that was about but you know Lugar, always into something.

Vicky Lakes (Fuller)

Hey Greg, Oh, I'm sure Jolee checks this from her blackberry...I was giving her a hard time for her "addiction".

Chris - Thanks for the video posting.

Amy M - Hey girl...did you ever find that hockey jersey you wanted? I thought of you yesterday when we were watching the Flyers.

I do TRY to check this site from my Blackberry, but a Bb distorts the screen image pretty bad for this site. As for FACEBOOK...now I even have my own little icon.

Hope all is well with everyone. I am glad you all want to keep our little hole in the wall here going. I really do like the fact that even if we dont have 100% participation, we do know in essence, that peeps are reading.

Catch you all soon...

Amy Wilhelm (McGuirt)

Hey Vicky~ Yes I did!! But it actually wasn't until after Christmas so now it is in a "mystery" box that he will get to open when he scores his 1st goal!! He has come close...and had lots of assists but no goal = no box!!! aren't I a mean mom!! :) when he finally gets to open it he will know it was well worth the wait!!

02/17/09 04:46 PM #1953

Vicky Lakes (Fuller)

Amy - Too Cool, glad you got it..and I think once he gets it then it really will mean the world to him. What a cool mom.

Trina Schossow (Folden)

Jolee/Greg/Amy - still good for lunch Friday? Who else is in? Where do ya'll want to go? I'm in, anywhere is good for me, though the mall area seems to be a good 1/2 way point for everyone. I'm off to Grundy tomorrow, so I doubt I will be online until Friday morning...ya'll pick and I will show up.

02/18/09 04:22 PM #1955

Jolee Clarke (Preston)

I'm in Trina...STeve is in too...just have to let him know where we are going as well...anyone else? Come on...it's been a while since we got together? O'Charleys was perfect...wanna go there again?!?!

02/18/09 06:26 PM #1956

Amy Ward (Foster)

Hello!! I am hoping to make lunch on Friday - and O'Charleys is perfect. Ryan has been running a fever of 102 for oh - going on 4 days now, but since the strep test was negative, they say he must have a virus and it just has to run its course. How frustrating to have a kid feeling so crappy and no medicine. Anyway - I am hoping he will be well on Friday, but it is not looking great right now. If I can't get there this time, I will look forward to seeing you guys next time...

02/18/09 06:37 PM #1957

Jolee Clarke (Preston)

Amy~ Hope he gets better soon. There are just some wicked viruses going around this year! You can text me if you can make it, even at the last minute. We always get a few extra seats for anyone who just decides to show up at the last minute. Hang in there.

Vicky Lakes (Fuller)

Trina / Jolee / Amy / Steve -- Lunch ? O'Charley's ? I feel so left out :(

Hope you guys have a good time. I will be taking a Peruvian missionary's wife to Reading Community College for an English class..and then back to the host family's house...long story...the things you do when you have nothing else to do...

02/19/09 08:06 AM #1959

Kristen Witt (Bray)

Vicky --- maybe we can get together in the next two weeks. Things have been crazy here. I will fill you in when we meet. I would say that we could meet during the day since you are off, but I would rather get out and talk without worrying if the kids are being entertained.

I hope that everyone is doing great.

Has anybody heard if Stef got out of jail? I was wondering if Greg was going to post her bail this time or not.

02/19/09 10:06 AM #1960

Vicky Lakes (Fuller)

Kristen - Yea I can meet during the day, but I know what you mean about wondering about the kids...Saturdays and Sunday afternoons are good for me...we can do a lunch or an early dinner...you choose...I have built in child care.

Off to my second interview at the library...woo hoo...
Talk to you later.

02/19/09 06:02 PM #1963

Vicky Lakes (Fuller)

Lunch Crew - have fun tomorrow...wish I could be there. :(

Kristen - lunch/dinner will have to be on a weekend...I was offered the job today, start Wednesday...yeah :-) Unless you want to meet before your class on Tuesday..your call.
