Vicky --- congrats on the job. I am soooooooooo happy for you. It is better for me if we can meet on the weekend because Steve doesn't get home until 6pm during the week. Can we get together next weekend?

Lunch group --- I hope that you have a great time today. I like seeing the pictures that you post when you meet. I guess Vicky and I should start taking pictures and posting them when we meet for lunch/dinner. It's nice to see everyone keeping in touch.

Lunch peeps count me out today. I'm having circuit problems with Verizon this morning and I have to stay onsite until they are resolved. Looks like lunch at my desk watching the construction next to Suntrust! Hope you guys have a great day!

Hi All~ Hope everyone has some fun plans for the weekend! Just being able to get some rest and get caught up on all of the crap I need to do would be nice, but it never seems to happen that way!

As always, LOVE our lunch group. Wondering where all of those peeps are who USED to come to lunch? Hope to maybe see you next time. Vicky, we did say a nice little homage to you today...we told so many stories last time you were here...lots to talk about as always this time as well. My friend De-dee was quite amazed at what a great group of friends I went to school with. All of her high school classmates are in Wisconsin, so we all are quite lucky to have continued these friendships for this long.

Also, I meant to tell you all, Sean Bowyer sent me a bunch of the window statics that are In Memory of Mike Goode. If anyone would like one, let me know...I have them. I have had a lot of people comment on mine and I just want other people to know he is gone but not gone from our memory....

Take care my friends!

Well I hate that I missed lunch today but I busted a blood vessel in my eye last night and I am scaring people today so its sunglass city for me. Sorry I missed you guys and girls! I will make it to the next one, heading off to warm compresses and tylenol (I have never had one before but it hurts like heck so I am a little more grouchy than usual)

Hope everyone has a great weekend! Peace out!

Jolee - Thanks for remembering me today at lunch, sniff sniff. And you are right, so many topics, like superglue, mensrooms, and funny shaped lolipops..LOL...glad you guys had a good time.

By the way, you took a picture when I was there, can you email it to me if you think about it...would love to have a copy :-)

Faye - sorry about the eye..been there done that, is quite scary looking...I had all of the white gone on one eye once..hope it feels better soon.

Faye~ Blood pressure up? Coulnd't imagine why with all that is going on. Hope it gets better soon. Usually, with a litle rest it will clear up. When I had my 10 pound kid, I burst EVERY blood vessel in both eyes. There was no white, just blood. Got 2 black eyes underneath too. In more ways than one I had been in a wreck! We did miss you yesterday and hoped you are okay. De-Dee was there too, wanted me to tell you hi. Mr. Wonderful (NOT) will NOT give up...such an IDIOT.

Vicky~ It was kind of low key yesterday. I think we are all quite tired. But Trina reminded us of her menroom expedition. Wonder if she will try that on her cruise she is going on soon? THAT would be a story! I will find you the pic and send it to you.

Amy Wilhelm (McGuirt)

Faye~ ouch!!!! Hope you're feeling better soon :)

Vicky~ Keegan got to open his mystery box!!!!! His first shift on the ice (at 7 by god A.M) he got a break away to score his 1st goal!!! He's wearing his shirt now!!!!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

Vicky Lakes (Fuller)

Amy - That's awesome...so glad he finally got it...I'm sure the suspense every week for you was nerve racking...I hate it when I have a surprise for the kids...

Hope everyone has a good weekend...off to basketball games and shopping with my girls.....prom is just around the corner..ugh...it's literally worse than shopping for a bathing suit.

Carla Boyd (McCabe)

Amy...that is great about the goal...but why on earth would they play ANYTHING at 7am???

So...I think Caroline has chicken pox. I am going to wait until Monday to go to the doctor rather than doing the urgent care thing. Yes, she had the vaccine. This is going to be a fun week.
I was at NHS last week, and will be again in the coming weeks. Mason is going to the wrestling clinic there. Nikki Craig's son is going too. I think Mason has found his sport...he loves it. I just hope he doesn't get chicken pox too.

Amy Wilhelm (McGuirt)

Carla~ Wrestling.. that's great..who's the coach now? My brother wrestled all thru Jr. high and high school.

Yea.. I know..7am is awful. They have to be done with the games early to free up the ice for public skating sessions!! Even crazier is the fact that the rink is 30 min away and his coach wants them there 45 min before the game starts so that puts us up at 5 and out the door by 5:45 at the latest!! The things we do for our kids!!! :)

02/22/09 11:55 PM #1978

Carla Boyd (McCabe)

Amy...Mark Agner is the coach now. He is a former LB coach...but attended(and wrestled at) NHS when Ken Shelton was coaching wrestling. My Dad coached at Byrd in the 60's...and was still wrestling himself until a couple years ago when he hurt his knee wrestling with a 17 year old...I think he was 72 at the time! He was inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame a few years ago.
I was a grapplette in HS and think I recall that you had a brother that wrestled. Wasn't he several years older than us?
Mason keeps wanting to show me what he learned...he is in for a surprise...I have picked up a few things after this many years of following the sport. The last time Dad and I did a wrestling expo class for the school, some of the older boys were quite shocked when I put them on their backs! A good half nelson works everytime!

Amy...you might find this interesting too...Ed Deeds(wrestling coach and AD in our day)has retired and his son, John Michael, is the AD now!

Any Jimmy Buffett fans out there? I have info on a March 7 event. The Parrot Heads of the Blue Ridge are holding this to raise $$$ for Relay For Life. The Key West Band will be there with one of JB's band members.

Faye Sowers (Crute)

Carla, email me the details I love the Key West band aka Jimmy Buffet music...............Big Fan!

Trina Schossow (Folden)

Faye...sorry about the eye. Been there, done that. If you want to come out, we promise not to stare!!

Jolee...girl, take that math page off the front - remember some of us struggle with elementary school math!!

Lunch bunch...I had a great time, food was yummy. Let's plan the next one.

Have a good day, everyone!!

Random Jimmy Buffett story - an x-coworker of mine had a part time gig one summer working at Walnut Creek (the big outdoor concert venue just outside of Raleigh). He said that the most notable event all summer was at the Jimmy Buffett concert where he witnessed the most simultaneous vomiting he had ever seen. Apparently everyone there was either stoned or drunk (or both.)

Hopefully gleaning this little tidbit hasn't pushed something useful out the other side of your brain. :)

Hi All~ Finally heard from Lugar...she is in Venezuela doing a photo shoot for the Cougar Swimsuit Edition. Should be interesting. She did send her love and say that she wants to get together for lunch sometime soon. She can go this Friday if anyone else can make it work...I have a meeting that morning, but could do it...I'm supposed to call her contact, Juan Phillipe Pablo back if anyone is interested....

Trina~ As for the math...I could just relate, so I put it out there...I'll change it soon!

Friday lunch sounds good to me.
Chris thanks for sharing! I think I may go just to witness what may happen at this event. Carla I am going to call you to make plans sounds fun! Amy I am so glad the box was finally revealed I bet your boy was so excited. Anyone know anything about lacross, Maggie is thinking of playing in the girls league here would love info. Vicky way to go about job hope it works out! Kristin how are the kids? Hope everyone is well now.
Jolee as a person who used to hate math and now sits down to dinner with my calculator in my pocket in case a person calls for a loan I love that first picture! It makes me laugh because I use to curse before and all thru math class now I see Maggie having the same struggles I use to face (yes she will probably grow up to be an accountant) Trina how are the home office hours working out for you (keeping all the laundry caught up......kidding!) okay off to my chamomile tea and compress. Good night everyone!

Vicky Lakes (Fuller)

Faye, thanks...and I totally relate to the math page. Absolutely hated math...so why is it all of us ended up in math related fields? I've been doing some form of accounting in every job I've had and yet I still can't add up more than about 5 numbers in my head. That goes for you too Jolee...with all the cc's and measurements you guys do...that would blow my mind.

Well I'm off to rejoin the working force..you guys have a nice lunch.

Faye...so far, I've only had 3 actual days that I have been able to work from home. I've either been out of town or have had meetings in the office, but busy is good in this economy - so I won't complain.

I think I can possibly do lunch on Friday, will have to wait until Friday morning, as boss is back from conference and not sure if he will have an afternoon of education for us or not. I'll probably be on thin ice by Friday...busted my laptop today. The "Super Geek" (my hubby) took it apart and thinks he found the problem, but could still be costly to fix.

Vicky...good luck on your first day tomorrow! You'll be great.

Gonna finish watching the prez and off to bed.

I recently learned that being really bad at math has a name...dyscalculia. I always just blamed it on being creative...all my art professors told me art people are always bad at math...the whole left brain/right brain thing.

Faye~ I do know that lacross is a lot like hockey only far less padding!! Lots of elbows thrown and all that!! Keegan would love to play but there is none around here except for at the prep schools!! That's about all I know! Sorry!
Hope everyone is having a good week! :)

Vicky --- I hope that you had a wonderful 1st day at work. I am thinking of you today!

Faye --- thanks for asking about my kids. Zachary tested positive for strep throat yesterday. It seemed to be feeling a little bit better today, so he went to school. Since he made the decision to go to school (I would have opted to stay home even if I did feel better), I told him that he could call me anytime if he started getting worn down. He is a good kid, so I trust his judgement. At least for now!

Jolee --- I am glad that you found Lugar. I swear, we need to get a chip put in her neck so that we have a tracking device. Good detective work --- maybe a career change is in the works for you!

Ya'll are making me jealous about these lunch meetings that you are having every week. Now, if we get transferred back to Roanoke, I hope that ya'll won't stop them!!!!

So, has anyone heard from anybody else from the class of '88? It seems like this forum was strong with chatter, and now everyone has dropped off of it. What's up with that?
