Hey everyone, Just wanted to say it was 73 and sunny here BEAUTIFUL BLUE SKIES...I LOVE TEXAS!!! I know I know you didn't have school...well we have spring break starting friday!! That's right..it's ok that it's early because we still get Good Friday and Easter Monday, then for 2 weeks in April it's FIESTA which is literally a 2 week party in the city of San Antonio. People work their vacations around fiesta and schools are closed for 2 or 3 of the events. 1 being a parade and 1 being NIOSA which stands for a NIGHT in OLD San Antonio. They both translate to PARTY. It begins with Oyster Bake at the college...awesome then ends with Oyster Bake 2 weeks later. Plus we are done 2 weeks before you guys!! HA!!

Anyway..things are good here. I was under the weather with a scare of spinal menegitis but thank god I lacked one of the symptoms...the light sensitivity. I had everything else but that. And can someone please tell me WHY XRAY people are NEVER gentle. I had to have xrays to make sure i didnt have a slipped disk in my neck and that guy was just not nice at all..any way ended up being a pinched nerve and several pulled muscles...how who the hell knows but I wouldn't wish that on anyone...I got a shot and 3 different pain meds. I was in so much pain..that my body was about to shut down. My 1st period class was a little scared because I almost passed out on them but it was all good..

Almost back to normal..finally can go workout again..we will see how it goes. I can only walk on the treadmill or ride the bike and trust me this time I will listen to the dr. I am not about to be in that kind of pain again!! I hope all is well...build a snowman for us texans!! :)

Susie -- I am so glad that you are feeling so much better. I was wondering about you and I was going to call you tonight. Yeah!!!!

Jolee -- have a safe trip to Florida. Wish I was there with you!

The schools went 2 hours late here. I heard that they were closed again in Roanoke. I am glad that ya'll had another day to enjoy the snow. It has just been so dagblastic windy here to enjoy the snow!!!!

Susie...girl, I'm coming for Fiesta!! I'm sick of the snow and cold. The kids had a blast, but I really would just like spring to come.

Roanoke schools were out again today, but Salem went 2 hours late. 5th grade writing/language SOLs the next two days...fun.

We had a sick one all weekend, so it was good to finally get back to work today. Lexi had croop, and was on steroids, that just made her bounce off the walls! I made the hubby stay home with her today - I had enough. I am very tempted to stow away on Jolee's trip to Florida.

Hope everyone has a great rest of the week.

Lunch crew...enjoyed seeing everyone last week. Looking forward to the next one.

U2, the greatest band of all time, released their new album today, No Line On The Horizon, & I'll be spending a lot of time listening to it over the next few days. They're going on tour this summer & in my opinion, anyone who can go see them should...they put on an incredible show.

Amen Brother! I totally agree with you Erik! U2 does put on the best show and we look forward to seeing them again!

Erik let us know how the new album is. I probably will not get out to pick up a copy until at least the weekend.

I've hear about half the songs & so far, so good. Only one I'm not too crazy about is the one they performed at the Grammys, "Get On Your Boots". "Breathe" rocks.

Go to U2.com, click on SOUND+VISION, then again on the album & you can listen to it in its entirety. They are also on Letterman all week & those performances are/will be on youtube.

Erik I didn't care much for that song either. It didn't sound like something you would expect from U2. I'll check out the website tonight. Thanks for the info.

So when did we get the cool numbered messages and page numbers at the bottom? That would have been ideal say 10 months ago...

Jolee - Richlands and Grundy are on the other side of Bluefield, in Tazwell County. We are right off of 460 about 30 minutes on the other side of Blacksburg from Roanoke. I have a fantastic view of the New River, which I can be on in three minutes by car, on the side of a mountain. It has snowed about 10 or 12 times since we have been up here in Narrows, 4 or 5 of which has resulted in 5 inches or more! I love snow, even if I have to make the 30 minute drive to Bluefield through Princeton! We are also only 10 minutes from the entrance to The Cascades. If anyone likes to do short day hikes let me know if you want to take the one hour drive from Roanoke and go up, it's a nice hike for dogs as well... Have a good weekend!

Hi All~ Just wanted to pass along a message that I received from Todd Selkirk. His mother passed away. I opened the message today (the 9th) but I cant tell which day he sent it to me now that I have replied to it. Please keep Todd and his family in your thoughts and prayers as he goes through this difficult time.

Todd...sorry to hear about your mother. I am sure you and your little guy will miss her. Prayers to you...

Folks...Marvin Brown really does still exist! I saw him in Wal Mart yesterday. He still has that sweet, mischevious smile. He was complaining that he didn't have very many pics from school. I reminded him that I put one on my profile of him. Just in case there is anyone who has not seen the pic of Marvin in his school issue gym shorts...check out my profile! Lookin' good Marvin!

Well I saw Todd and I told him that we were all thinking of him and keeping his family close to our prayers. He seems to be holding up as well as expected, just wanted to let everyone know he knows that his Northside family is standing beside him right now.

Hug your family a little tighter tonight and sleep well. Welcome home Jolee the forum is awful quiet without you around so tell us some funny stories from your trip. Oh and by the way you ghost reader that I saw at the funeral home tonight give us a little post every so often so that we know you are keeping up with us. Peace out everyone ...............

Hey everyone,

I wanted to share some awesome news with you guys. I have now gained custody of a former student of mine. Her name is Veronica and she's 17. I had her as a freshman and she's just had a horrible life. We remained in contact for the lst 2 1/2 years. I found out that she dropped out of school about 3 months ago and has been working 2 jobs to support herself. She's basically homeless living from friend to friend. She would tell me bits and pieces until I finally put the entire puzzle togerher. She has $1000 saved up and has done a remarkable job except be the kid she needs to be. So her mom agreed to give me custody. It wasn't even a fight it was Can I take her and she said yes where do I sign? Very sad but she's mine. Now she will not be living with me. There is a South Texas Children's Ministries that is a Christian based home for children that is nonprofit. I will place Veronica there on the 23rd of this month. She will live there with the houseparents, go back to high school, and graduate hopefully next May. They provide her with all of the necessities of life and she will go to church as well. She gets a horse (we do live in Texas) that she will learn to care for and ride. I told her I wanted to pack up and move there too. College will be an option which she is so excited about. If so the foundation pays for her college as long as she maintains her grades. I will be able to have monthly visits. She is not allowed to have a cell phone which is good. She will have chores and bedtimes which she is not use to but so needs. They are just better able to help her get on track than me be a single mom. She is nervous but very excited. I have always told her that if she graduates from high school I will take her to Vegas and that's the first thing she asked me the other day was when I graduate do we still get to go to Vegas. I said the very next day.

If you are interested check out the site it's www.stch.org It's about 2 hours from me but we both know it's best for her. I will still be the parent and talk to her teachers and counselors just like a mother should.

I guess the reason I am asking is NO NOT for money but for your awesome prayers not for me but for Veronica. This child has been through hell and back and has survived. She was molested more than once by more than a few family members. I almost think her mother pimped her out but she won't tell me that. She has taken care of her little brother and sister for 7 years. Her parents call her for money because they don't work. She gets up at 4 to work from 5-noon at mcdonalds then goes to dairy queen from 4-midnight. She buys her own clothes, food, and pays her phone bill. She has never been pregnant and doesn't do drugs or drink which with what she has been through, I think is amazing.

She is nervous but very excited. She told me that she feels like God is blessing her now when before all she thought was God never loved her. I have told all of you that I love my job as a teacher but it's much more than that. It's a big step for me too but it's what God wants me to do and I know it.

Thanks for your prayers in advance!

Susie, that is awesome and amazing at the same time. I am so glad that she had a person like you in her life that took an interest and was willing to give the child a second chance for a life of happiness that she deserves...Please keep us posted on how she doing. You really have a heart of gold...but then some of us already knew that.
