I was shocked, stunned and amazed when Mark passed away. He was married and had 3 kids at the time, as best as I can remember. I was living overseas again at the time but I asked the Alumni Office if they had the address of his widow and kids because I wanted to send her a letter about being friends with Mark. I did that and wrote to his family. While he was a science geek, which I definitely was not - ha! - Mark was also very kind and considerate. He wanted to teach me how to play CHESS at McQuaid; but I insisted that we just play checkers up in Mr. Reforgiato's classroom before school; until we got to the Senior Lounge in 67-68. Mark liked to play cards, too, (Euecher!) but he was not that good at it - ha! - yet he went along with it just to hang out with us. He would always offer to help us with our Biology or Chemistry homework, too. And he was good in Math (Algebra, Geometry and Calculus). He was another good classmate and it was sad to see him go and leave his wife and kids at such a young tender age. We the survivors are the fortunate ones. We have lost too many good classmates and friends too young, too early.
