McQuaid Reunion Events

Event Details

There are seven events that we've organized for the alumni over the week-end.   Choose which ones you'd like to participate in.  Since the planning committee has had to put a deposit down for several of the events, we're asking you to pre-pay with a credit card which can be easily done on this webpage.   Some of the events are free or payment needs to be made in person when you arrive at the event site.

If you're not sure whether you'll take part in a particular event or not, you'll have up to 8/31 to come back to this website and pay.

The events are:

  • Golf -- The cost will be $40 for greens fees and golf carts to be paid by each player at the pro shop the morning of the event.  Please sign up by Friday, 8/31/2018 if you wish to play -- there are 8 tee-times reserved.  Golfers will receive an email from Jon Clark (beginning in May) advising them of particulars as well as asking if they wish to get a group together.
  • Private wine tasting -- a new urban winery called Living Roots was opened up at the end of last year by the brother of one of classmates.  Mike Hurley, Steve's brother, started this winery with his daughter to highlight some excellent red and white wines that are made from grapes grown in both the Fingerlakes and Australian wine regions.  It's become a very popular night spot in the city.
  • Stag night at Bill Cherry's -- Bill has kindly offered to host us at his place in Pittsford.  This will be the best opportunity for us to get together without spouses to get a bit raucous and rowdy as we recount the bad old days!
  • Dinner at The Chatterbox Club -- we've planned a dinner at a great venue in Rochester where we'll have a buffet meal.  If anyone remembers how, we'll also have music for dancing!  Cash bar.
  • Guided tour of the Eastman House -- for those who have never visited the Eastman House, or haven't done it for many, many moons, we'll arrange for someone to provide a private tour of the historical building.
  • Genesee Riverway Trail Hike -- this is considered one of the most enjoyable trails within the city of Rochester.   The views and excellent, and it's something that AARP-qualified hikers can handle!
  • Mass & tour of the new Science & Technology Center -- Mass will be held for our class at 4:00 PM.  Immediately following the Mass, we'll be given a tour of the Science & Technology Center. Funded by Wegman's, this is the only dedicated facility for STEM education at the high school level in the area.   The tour, including demonstrations, should last less than an hour.
  • Hotel bookings -- Please indicate if you would like us to arrange hotel accommodations for you.  If enough alumni are interested, we can get a group rate at a local hotel that is reasonably priced.  (NOTE: While this isn't actually a week-end activity, the easiest way for us gauge your interest in having us arrange accommodations is through this event page. Also, please note that hotel reservations would be for both 9/21 & 9/22.)
