ROCK HILL - Wanda Dewitt Collins, 62, of 212 Shurley Street, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2009, at Carolina Specialty Hospital in Charlotte.
A native of York County, Mrs. Collins was born November 13, 1946, a daughter of the late Ezra and Jenette Evans Dewitt. She was a retired nurse and member of Oakdale Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Collins.
Surviving are her daughter, Jennifer Long Wilson of Catawba; a son, Richard "Richie" Long of Rock Hill; three brothers, Randy Dewitt of Lebanon, Tenn., Andy Dewitt of Charlotte and Doug Dewitt of Rock Hill; four sisters, Dianne Crosby of Rock Hill, Patsy Mora of Chester, Sonja Arnold of Rock Hill and Susie Huffstetler of Rock Hill; and two grandchildren, Jenna and Jacob Wilson.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home.
A graveside service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Collins will be held at 4 p.m. Monday at Rock Hill Memorial Gardens, officiated by the Rev. Bart Smith and Mr. Billy Crosby.
