We all have a story, that was Ms. Hazel's.  I think it would have been a fun project in school if we had written our stories, however short they might have been at that time. Maybe we should take the time to do it now, after all who can tell it better than ourselves? I'd sure like to hear some of your stories!

The first thing I look at in the paper every morning is the obituary page - to make sure my name isn't there. My step-mother, born in 1920, had the same kind of wit as this lady. They don't make many of them like that anymore.

As it turns out, Mrs Hazel's son wrote her obituary. The story is in this morning's Charlotte Observer.  Kind of a disappointment, but he did a beautiful job.

Sad to inform you all that a former RHHS classmate has past away. I saw on Facebook that Brenda Carter had past around 8:30 p.m. yesterday. It was first posted by her younger sister Laurie Carter Leary and moments later by her older sister, Carolyn Carter Smith. Brenda was a neighbor and friend and classmate for years. She had an undeniable great personality that had us laughing in and out of class and she loved sports. From Ellen Horn Hood. June 4, 2017.

I am so sorry to hear about Brenda.  She was a joy to be around.  Always funny.  I always wanted to make sure I was on her volleyball or basketball team.  She was so athletic and knew our team would win and we did.

Go to the photo gallery "1944 Publication" to see images Tommy Deas sent in. This is very interesting historical material! Thank you, Tommy.

My folks had a copy of Industry Goes to War when I was a kid. I do not know what happened to it, but this is great that Tommy located a copy. I personally knew many of these men and even some of the pin-ups. I actually had some of these men as supervisors when I worked at RHP&F during high school and summers while at college. Some of these men were my uncles, and one uncle, Lewis Williams, was killed on the Island of New Caledonia in the South Pacific. Some of these guys had great stories. I am honored to have known them and humbled by their sacrifices.

I wonder if the York County library has a copy. Next time I'm there, I will ask.

Is there anyone who might have group photos of :

Ebenezer Elementary

1st grade - Mrs. Sanders

2nd grade - Mrs. Chandler

3rd grade - Mrs. Johnson

I don't know if any even exist. Some things disappeared after we moved to Oakwood Acres. Thanks!

Tommy, if you are on Facebook send a message out about your desire to find pictures of your classes at Ebenezer. If you are not  a member perhaps some our classmates on our web site could do that for you. I think that might reach a bigger audience. Also, you can contact the school and see if they have any documents/pictures that might be of interest.

Our prayers go out to Martha and Steve Rast. Steve sent the following notice to the Class of '67.

"Hi,

Martha (1967) has an antibiotic resistant infection.  She is in room 2310 at Carolina's Medical Center - Pineville.  She was transferred from Piedmont Medical Center to Pineville on Monday.  She is some better, but she still is a very sick lady.  She has been hospitalized in intensive care since July   She came over to RHHS wnen WTS closed in 1966.  She affirmed to me that she wanted her class notified of her sickness.

Steve Rast (1966) " .

I am sure Get Well cards would be welcomed.

Thanks for all the prayers.  Martha is still a very sick lady.  If all goes well  we will celebarte our fiftieth anniversary on November 4th of this year.  I will say this is the worst experience I have ever gone through.  In the best case scenario, Martha will need a long period of rehab.

Thank you WH Morris for sending Glenn Campbell video. It's great!  Everyone knows, though, the Lone Ranger's horse was SILVER and Tonto's horse was Scout.  He goofed. Hi-O-Silver, away!
