Happy New Year almost two months late!  I am finally getting caught up with what's going on with everyone and I was so sorry to hear about Chuck Spencer.  From what I  remember, Chuck was a very positive person and very popular with everyone.  My prayers are with his family for peace and comfort during this time.

Just a little update on me and what I am doing...I decided at 63 I need to do more than work ALL the time so I took beginners Shag lessons at Lynn's in Charlotte; then, enjoyed it so much I took Intermediate lessons twice.  Then I decided all I needed was to get out of my house and go dancing.  Most of the time, I sit and watch but at least I am out and once in a while some brave soul will ask me to dance.  I'm thinking now about SOS at the beach in April.  We gotta keep moving at our age....that's what keeps us young.  I, also, have a goal to walk/run a half marathon this year; haven't chosen one yet but plan on it.  I was doing 4 half marathons a year until 2006 when I broke my heel bone then ooops....was out of pocket for 8 weeks healing.  Started back walking and did a few more then just got really busy at work.  So what do I do...I set goals; and then plan to achieve each one.  In the meantime, I'll keep on working, taking care of my grandbabies, and will promise to stay in touch better  with each one of you.  May the good Lord bless each one of you as we start now looking forward to the BIG 50th REUNION we havecoming up in the next few years.

Karen,

It is good to get your update. Did you take shag lessons from TK and Mary at Lynn's? My husband and I took lessons from them and they are wonderful instructors. I even went to SOS a few years ago. Shagging is a wonderful way to meet friends and stay active physically.

I hope more classmates use the Message Forum as you have to share what is going on in their lives. WE NEED TO STAY IN TOUCH now that we have this wonderful website.

Becky

Hi, Becky....Sorry it has taken me a while to write back; but, yes, I took from T.K. and Mary all three times.  Now, I have met some wonderful friends and go out to Lynns' on Wed. and Fri.or Sat. night.  I will finish a sitting job on THursdays, then will go then some. I have enjoyed so much getting involved in dancing.  Going down to SOS the last part of the week in April and can't wait.  I have been sitting around too much; not doing anything for me and my decision to take up this again has been a blast!! Plus, it's good exercise; which I need desparetly.  You and your hubby ought to come join me some time.   Do you ever go down to SOS?  I went once but didn't go in all the clubs; just the one that was open to everyone.  Anyway, thanks so much for writing.... Karen

A neighbor gave us some dance lessons at Planet Ballroom so we are currently taking lessons in Matthews. The hard part about Lynn's was making time to go..I was working then and plus they had no AC so it was always hot there. Has that improved at all? I went to SOS with a friend but Russell has not been. We are talking about restarting dancing on a regular basis. Mayber you will inspire us!

Good to hear from you.

I was looking at the 1965 Bearcat today and our class officers at that time were Robert White our treasurer(where is Robert now?), Spenser Simrill our secretary, George Crow our vice-president, and Jimmy Nies our president. Isn't it interesting that there were two ministers at the table?  David, we are all so proud of you as well!  Kay

Betty: Thank you so much for  your response to the web site.  We are constantly looking for ways to improve its content and would be happy to post any pictures or comments you or any of the rest of you might have to share.  This is our class web site and we have to rely on each other for ideas and artifacts.  At this age our memories aren't quite what they used to be and it is very important that we help each other remember our years at RHHS.  We would love for you to share some of your beach pictures or tell us where to search for them on line. I know OD Mafia is a web site that has some great pictures - seen Hilda there and some of our other classmates. I've seen friends of mine from Charlotte on there dancin' with my school pals. Please let us know more. Thanks Betty!  Kay

Ditto to Kay's response, Betty. Thank you for your feedback. Sometimes Kay and I just are not sure what folks are thinking. She and I have a ton of fun thinking of ideas to keep you coming back to login.

Folks do not be shy about using the message forum either by leaving a note and/or posting a current snap shot of you and friends and family. Just remember, we are family focused so be sure and keep your clothes on!!! Becky

I just learned that Betty Jo Healan Fowler is in the hospital.   She recently went in for a heart cath, and the good news is there was no problem with her heart, but in the process they ruptured (poked, damaged??) an artery.  They sent her home with a drainage tube or something like that,  She called it a drip bulb, but she has now developed an infection from that and has to go back in the hospital.  She would love your prayers.

In researching our graduating class, I believe I found Scott Martin in St. Louis and, of course, Judy is in Durham. Does anyone know where Lisa is? If so, please invite her to join the web site. She was quite a student in high school and has so much to share. Thanks!  I will try to contact Scott and invite him to join. Kay

Becky & Kay, I found Scott Martin on "classmates"  sent him msgs. last summer. He never responded, however, he did visit my profile on classmates several times.  Don't be surprised if no responce or maybe it was just me! lol

Good luck with contact & hope we find Lisa.  I believe her mother taught us in high school or gym or something?
