Awesome trip my friend.  I know tou had a blast.  Thanks for sharing.  I followed cycles all the way down from Deadwood back to Estes Park and saw some beautiful bikes and scenery.  Must be fun to be there for the party!

In the mountains for a women's retreat in Flat Rock, NC this weekend with good friend and roommate, Misun Kim, and look who I ran into. Robert and Laura Gantt saw my post on Facebook and invited us to their summer home near where the retreat was taking place. What a special treat. Thank you, Robert and Laura.

Enjoy our 50 Year Hall of Fame in the Photo Gallery additions - Robert and Laura Gantt. The smiles they wore on their wedding day are still just as bright today. Job well done!

Dennis: I enjoyed your comment on your Profile update about the article you found in the 1948 newspaper - historically, we haven't progressed very far, have we? Your school story was great too. I hope you haven't experienced anymore heat stroke while golfing this year. You made a comment about your time is spent golfing and trying to stay out of Lynn's way - once I said that to my friend and she said "don't you and your husband get along?" I said of course we do, but we do better with some distance between us from time to time. We all need a little breathing space.  Thanks for all your contributions. I enjoy them very much.

Thanks, Kay.  About the heat stroke.  I've agreed now, if the temps are in the 70s or lower, I'll walk 18 holes;?80s, walk 9, ride 9; 90s, ride 18.  Yes, Lynn & I have a good time together.  Recently, we've watched a lot of British shows at night since the US TV is on summer break. However, she likes quality time with her girlfriends and I like my time with the guys.

08/29/21   A message was sent to several of our friends in the path of Ida. Charles Ferguson from Auburn, Alabama replied:  "We are pretty much out of the path, but rain is just starting to pick up with 20/30 mph winds. But, I traveled the New Orleans area for years & made some of my very best friends in the area. Most that I have been able to reach this morning are doing ok with minimal damage to roofs, fences, porches, etc. They have no water pressure, & it looks like it will be quite some time before power & clean water will be restored. Most of these friends had generators that have performed, so they have some limited power. Another friend in Baton Rouge has a daughter that lost her entire roof, but luckily only minor cuts & bruises. Luckily things can be replaced, but it is so sad to see one of my favorite places being so destroyed. "

Dianne Demby Spears from l Mississippi writes: "Thanks for checking on us,Kay. Ida finally made it to northern Mississippi. Thank the Lord our area only got rain and winds up to 20-25 mph. No tornadoes. Please continue to pray for for the areas devastated by Ida."  ( 8/31/21)

Yesterday, while sitting in a waiting area at the Pineville hospital waiting for my husband to have a procedure, I noticed a lot of people passing by in wheelchairs and thought these must be from admitting and they are going to their rooms. The doctor had told us the hospital was full of Covid patients and there wasn't any room for patients with other problems. I wondered how many of those people had Covid that passed by and how many had had their vaccine. One of my favorite stories passed through my head. God works his wonders through his people - medical personnel, scientists, presidents - past and present - clergy, neighbors, all of us. When one of my dear loved ones told me he would not get the vaccine, the Lord would protect him, I asked him if he had ever heard this story.....TWO BOATS AND A HELICOPTER

A storm descends on a small town, and the downpour soon turns into a flood. As the waters rise, the local preacher kneels in prayer on the church porch, surrounded by water. By and by, one of the townsfolk comes up the street in a canoe.

"Better get in, Preacher. The waters are rising fast."

"No," says the preacher. "I have faith in the Lord. He will save me."

Still the waters rise. Now the preacher is up on the balcony, wringing his hands in supplication, when another guy zips up in a motorboat.

"Come on, Preacher. We need to get you out of here. The levee's gonna break any minute."

Once again, the preacher is unmoved. "I shall remain. The Lord will see me through."

After a while the levee breaks, and the flood rushes over the church until only the steeple remains above water. The preacher is up there, clinging to the cross, when a helicopter descends out of the clouds, and a state trooper calls down to him through a megaphone.

"Grab the ladder, Preacher. This is your last chance."

Once again, the preacher insists the Lord will deliver him.

And, predictably, he drowns.

A pious man, the preacher goes to heaven. After a while he gets an interview with God, and he asks the Almighty, "Lord, I had unwavering faith in you. Why didn't you deliver me from that flood?"

God shakes his head. "What did you want from me? I sent you two boats and a helicopter."

Thank you Kay, for reminding us that God is faithful and He does provide for us when we ask Him.

Thanks, Cheryl. I think we all can remember every prayer that God has answered. I do think we all must do our part as he directs us.  He sent the boats, he sent the helicopter and it is up to us to receive his gifts with gratitude.

From Roland DeLoach on 8/28/21  -  "So far it looks like the western edge of the hurricane will only brush the most eastern edge of Texas. As the crow flies, that’s about 100 miles from me. Our forecast isn’t showing much affect from the storm. We could use some rain but not the wind. Louisiana and parts of Mississippi look to take the brunt with storm surges up to 15 ft. in certain areas. Thanks for checking in.
Roland"

Pineville Atrum had a Covod19 outbreak a week or so ago, 50 staff members  and 9 paients , 35 of the staff who tested positive were fully Vaccniated . A friend of mine was there in a wheelchair for 32hours waiting for a room, his second visit both Covid related....he was fully vaccinated.

Thanks Jimmy for your story. With the added protection of the vaccine, I hope your friend will recover and put all this horrible illness behind him. We lost a friend three weeks ago with Covid and one in the hospital now struggling - both unvaccinated.  Prayers for your friend.  K

Praying for Jimmy's cousin and Jimmy's friend and Kay/Lake's friend.
