Thanks Ladies. It's a 2021 LC500 and NO K, I ain't getting rid of my scooters......just not ridin them as much. Old age ain't no funcryingbroken heart. Oh, and yes Rebecca love a Rat Snake no harm to people or pets. Have seen one with a 2 to 3ft Copperhead and all you could see was the last 3 inches of him

There aren't too many of us ladies who can love a rat snake. They do harm when they cause a heart attack! One chased my neighbor into the house one time, but he was poking at him with a rake. Yes, Jimmy, old age is a bummer but I'm glad to see you are resisting it with great enthusiasm. I hope your new toy is not so low to the ground you'll need help getting out. That would spoil the image in my head. K

Jimmy,

My husband is like you. He loves anything car related.

This is a question for everyone:

Assuming there are unlimited resources and birthdays ahead of us, what else would you, classmates, want to buy or do?

COVID aside I would love to take a cruise around the world!

Becky

Becky: That's a great question. I would love to see Bob Dylan in concert and Bob Seger.  I have developed an attachment to Bob Seger because when we lived in Ann Arbor Bobby (as he was known by his friends) went to school with my sister and my neighbor. My neighbor said "everybody loved Bobby!" I don't think my sister knew him at that time - he was a year ahead of her. She was in 7th grade and he was in 8th. Bobby played the clubs around Ann Arbor as a teenager. The sad news is that he, his brother and mom were abandoned by his father and struggled living in rented rooms and trying to survive.  I have always loved his music. The song "Main Street" was written about Ann Arbor by him when he was 16 when he was too young to get into the clubs. Unfortunately, he has given his farewell tour, so I doubt he will be back this way. Bob Seger's home in Orchard Lake, Michigan - quite a step up from rented rooms with Mom and brother.

As for Dylan, even as an old lady I still enjoy his music as much today as I did back in 1968!

I walk everyday and have discovered Bob Segar s songs and music have a way to make time and steps fly!

Happy Monday.

Good job Anne. Old Bobby sure does put a spring in your step. I'm sure he'd be proud to know his music keeps us young at heart as well as physically fit. Keep up the good work!  By the way, in regard to Becky's question, have you any desires and wishes left on your list Anne? You have traveled the world, is there anything you would love to do next?  K

Dad story:  I was probably 3 or 4 years old.  My Mom was at work.  My Dad decided to paint his wooden trailer and he let me help him.  Unfortunately I had on one of my nicest dresses.  By the time Mom got home, I had paint all over the dress and all over me, including my hair. I remember hanging my head down while my Dad used turpentine, I think, to get the paint out of my hair.  My Mom was FURIOUS when she got home and found me and my dress in such a dilemma.

Great story Lyn! Lost a dress but gained valuable painting experience - time spent with Dad, priceless!

Found this one Kay. Not sure if it's the one you mentioned. Kyle is somewhere in front of me, as usual. He rides like a B-outa-H.  There were 7 of us on this ride, I was 3rd

That's the one. Thanks Jimmy.  Did ya'll ever have any accidents in those curves?

The ladies' groups in our church do monthly mission action/support projects.  This idea was just forwarded to me.  Thought others might be interested in helping.

"Making a difference in the lives of the international community living in Rock Hill.  Mattresses, sofas, chairs, tables, mugs, dinnerware, pots/pans and mixing bowls are needed for international teachers.  Donations can be dropped off at Finley Road School in Rock Hill on Tuesday July 5 and Tuesday July 19 from 9 a.m. - noon.  These teachers are coming to answer the teacher shortage across the nation.  RH School District is requiring these international teachers to possess 10 years+ experience. This is huge considering thousands of teachers are being hired across the nation without an education degree, experience or teaching certificate.  Let's address their physical needs so they can positively impact our children and grandchildren in the classroom.  Thank you!"

Lyn,

Thank you for your post. I did not realize US citizens / teachers are being hired without appropriate credentials. Interesting times, no doubt. Good luck with this mission!

We'll, guess who came by for a visit?  On 8/17, Roland DeLoach (after flying in from Texas) went by Shelby and picked up Mickey Jennings (Wright) and came to our house.  Roland and I had been close friends since 6th grade at Northside when his Dad became the minister at Northside Baptist.  Lynn & I, after college, spent time with Roland & Nancy (Bradley) when we both lived I Charlotte.  Then jobs took us away and we had not seen each other for 50 years.  Mickie and I were together in school from the first grade through high school.  We had not seen each other for 56 years.  We talked and talked, went to Hobo's for supper and talked some more.  It's amazing when you're around really good old friends that it seems like the last time you talked to them was yesterday!

What a great surprise, Dennis!  I hope you are able to stay connected on a more frequent basis in the future.  The web site is a great place to reunite with old friends. How thoughtful of Roland to go by and pick up Mickey!

I joined a web site in Michigan so I could contact two old friends I used to live next to in Ann Arbor. To my surprise, they were alive and well and we've stayed in touch for over five years. They have been in my memory all these years  (62 years). So glad to finally talk with them again. One lived in Florida until last month and she has since moved to Weaverville, NC.  How great is that! Our childhood friendships are so honest and lasting!

Thanks to Ed Burwell for sending us this photo. He was on Staff Duty for the Commander of the Naval Pacific Headquarters in San Diego from 1983-1985. Ed was officiating in a reenlistment ceremony for the sailor pictured here with Ed. She just sent him the photo! How cool is that and quite a surprise to Ed.

I will add this to the veterans slideshow. Thanks, Ed for sharing and for serving our country.

Keep Robert and Laura and their family in your thoughts and prayers as he recovers from surgery and possibly undergoes chemo.

September 16, 2022

Caringbridge Post

Updates:

Robert did very well with the surgery.  They were successful in getting a larger sample of tissue to send out for testing.  He was able to get the chest tube out on the day after surgery and he was able to be discharged.

Next steps:

We meet with his SCOA oncologist next week.  We are hoping to start back on chemotherapy as soon as it is safe after the surgery.  We are praying that his platelet levels stay in a good range so that treatment is possible. We are also praying he can tolerate the side effects well (this treatment is still new for him).

In the next 2-4 weeks we will get back the results of the tumor testing and we hope you can pray with us for it to reveal further treatment options.

We appreciate all of your prayers and support. There have been times of worry and fear in all of this ... but our faith keeps us strong and we feel your prayers and kindness.

Keep Robert and Laura and their family in your thoughts and prayers as he recovers from surgery and possibly undergoes chemo.
