Brushy Mountains hold some secerts. Caught this boy? crossing the road just before dark about a mile from the house. Neighbor had told me he had one on his trail camera, I thought sure you did. Sorry pic, but all I had was a hand-held 15yo GPS. Black Panther.

Jimmy, where there is one, there are others.  That is scary!   K

Sister Carolyn I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your brother. I can't tell you how comforting it was for you to tell me the sisters in the Convent were praying for me as I am recovering from my recent surgery and getting back to my normal chemo routine. My prayers are with you and your family. Be well !

While shopping for pumpkins this year, the selection was amazing. I had never seen the blue pumpkin before.  To my surprise all the pumpkins at Simpson's Pumpkin Patch at Carmel Commons were trucked in from Amish farms in Ohio.  A few of the diverse crop are:  Blue hue, Casper, Flat Stacker, Knucklehead, and Turks Turbin.

Asking for prayers for Robert Gantt and family.

October 30, 2022

Journal Entry by Katherine Gettys — 3 hours ago

This has been a hard day. We struggled at times and we worked together as a family to advocate for my dad today. His heart rate and blood pressure are better after some hard work on the part of some of my new favorite nurses and doctors.

Dad was taken to the ICU so they could slow down his heart rate and get his blood pressure up. He was given a blood transfusion which will also help. We are in The ICU now but that is so he can get the level of care and monitoring. He is better ever since getting here. πŸ’œ.

Throughout this frightening day, my dad who is the most tender hearted man has been an amazing rock. My dad has always been easy to shed a tear or get choked up during a prayer. (Which is something I admire) Last night we prayed as a family and when none of us could speak, my dad spoke the most lovely prayer asking for strength for his family.

He is truly a beast - never complaining, kind to everyone. His countenance the last 2 days has been a delight to see - he is glowing. Despite the wreck going on in his body - his face has never looked so beautiful. He looks younger - like a man with no worries because he knows that he is being held in Jesus. When his HR was in the 170s and blood pressure very very low- he continued to speak and smile. It is unheard of, and as a physician it totally knocks my socks off. He is not in pain and not needing pain medication which is incredible. He is tired and listens to our conversations and has the very sweetest smile on his face. I think it is a smile of joy and contentment. He is the most gentle, outgoing, and strongest person I have or will ever know. He is my mom’s very best friend and he is an amazing dad. His faith and contentment in these hardest of circumstances- it humbles me to my core. We sure are blessed to know him and be loved by him.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Please put your hand on us this night. We pray to you knowing that heaven is better. We ask your grace to get us home with our dad tomorrow so we can enjoy resting and just being together in the comfort of our home. You have given us so many miracles along this journey and we ask this - one more of you. If it is your will - you will get us home.

You will keep us safe in you.

Needed a little chuckle.....

I was in Walmart using the restroom and just as I closed my stall door, a voice from the next stall said, “Hi! How are you?” Embarrassed... I said, “I’m aight!!" The voice said, "So what are you up to?” I said, “Ummm... Just trying to handle a little private business over here!” Then I hear, “Can I come over?” Annoyed... I said “Excuse me?!?!." Then the voice said, “Listen, I will have to call you back, there’s an idiot in the next stall answering all my questions!!!!

Post from Robert Gantt's family

November 03, 2022

Journal Entry by Katherine Gettys — 1 hour ago

I think it is time for an update.  Dad came home from the hospital on Monday and we have excellent hospice care coming to our home.  Going home is what my dad expressed as his desire.  He has an incredibly strong spirit and has fought hard to be with us and has given us countless memories in the last few years, weeks, days.

So many people have shown their love and gratitude to my dad and family in numerous ways. One thing for sure - we feel the love and care. My dad’s faith and trust is strong. It is easy to see he is leaning on and trusting the promises of Jesus.

Please stay tuned. As we have been preparing for major celebrations of his love and incredibly rich life … we’ve realized that our dad would want to actually be there and experience some of this celebration.  So, we are planning an event in the coming days.  I will post it here once the plans are made.  πŸ’œ

Lemme try to cheer things up a bit! I posted this on Facebook the other day. Here it is again for those of you who may have missed it.

"I don't mean to brag, but...... I just put a puzzle together in 1 day and the box said 2-4 years!"

Ed and Jimmy: Thanks for lifting us up in difficult times.  As for myself, I need a good dose of laughter, a few giggles, or at least a smile to get me through the day...the best medicine ever!  K
