Mary Susan Ashworth
December 4, 1952 - April 7, 2023


Charlotte, North Carolina - Mary Susan Ashworth, age 70, of Charlotte N.C., died April 7, 2023. Susan was born in Wilmington, NC and was the daughter of Robert and Evelyn Ashworth. She graduated from Rock Hill High School in Rock Hill, S.C. She received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Winthrop College and a Master of Divinity Degree from Emory's Candler School of Theology. Susan was a member of the S.C. United Methodist Conference where she served as minister of numerous churches around the state. Susan had a passion for the ministry, music and reading. She had a marvelous sense of humor and loved to laugh, especially with family and friends. Her greatest love was her family and friends. Sharing a story, a joke, a song or a meal. She never knew a stranger. Her love for the Beatles music was second to none, so " Let it be".

Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Evelyn Ashworth, a niece Whitney Elizabeth Ashworth, cherished Aunt and Uncle, Lib and Tancil Horne. Susan is survived by a sister, Jane Ashworth Lewis (Darrell), brothers Michael C. Ashworth, and Robert A. Ashworth (Jewel). Nieces and nephews, AJ and Michelle Lewis, Michaela Ashworth, Ian Ashworth, Quin Ashworth, Laura Ashworth, Catherine Ashworth, Joe and Annie Elberson. An Aunt Marie Ashworth, and many cousins Horne, Whitfield's, Gore, Clines, and Ashworth's.
 

A memorial service will be held for Susan on May 7, 2023 at 3:00, at Central United Methodist Church in Spartanburg S.C. The Family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall.
 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Susan's name to Central United Methodist Church, 233 N. Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306.

I didn't get to know Susan very well in high school but after reading the obituary I wish I had.
