I have some great memories of Robert. A true freind. Lost over the years. I was very saddened when I learned of his passing. I still think of him often. Mike Robinson
Robert and hunted & fished together some during our RHHS days. We recalled those "GOOD OLD DAYS" as we chatted at the Confederate Park 10th reunion picnic. TEN YEARS seemed like a long time. I was sorry to learn of his death. We shared some real good times in the field, at St. John's UMC and at RHHS.
I got to know Robert in 8th grade, when he showed up to help organize the Teenage Republicans in York County. The girls in the club kind of had a crush on him and used to call him "Geechie" because he was from Georgetown, which was pretty close to Charleston, but I don't know if we ever let him know that. We had a meeting at his house one time and he pulled out an old family Bible to show us the names of his ancestors. I was pretty impressed because most boys at 14 didn't care about that kind of thing. I even wrote a poem about it, though heaven knows where it is now. Rest in peace, "Geechie" -- we really liked you a lot, even if we didn't let on when we were 14.
Just now seeing this and saddened to hear of Robert's passing. Connie, I remember having a major crush on Robert at about that same age. I think I first met him when my Belleview class was tranfered to Central for junior high. He must have been a really cute 13/14 year old! The class of 70 was richer for having him as one of our own.
