TERRANCE M. 'Terry' DOWNEY, 64 ROCKFORD - Terrance M. "Terry" Downey, 64, of North Carolina, formerly of Rockford, passed away Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born April 3, 1946, in Rockford; son of Harold and Edith Downey. Graduated from Rockford East in 1964. He served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1968. Terry married Susan Holte in 1978. For 32 years he worked for Procter and Gamble. Terry was an avid runner and an outdoorsman. Survivors include wife, Susan; daughter, Katie; brother, Richard (Kanella) Downey; nephew, Timothy (Jennifer) Downey; great-niece and -nephew, Alyssa and Gavin Downey; stepmother, MaryAnn Downey; and stepbrother, Joe Bailey. Predeceased by his parents and daughter, Rebecca. At Terry's request, cremation rights have been accorded. Private family services will be held.
