I married an ROTC student in June of 1962 (we both attended Ohio State but I didn't graduate) and we went immediately to Ft. Benning, GA, for his officer's training and than it was off to Germany for three glorious years of sightseeing and wine drinking (both of which I had never done before) We came back to the US in "65 to near Ft. Polk, LA, where it was complete culture shcck (rifles in the back of pickup trucks and Cajun music and language on the radio and TV, no decent stores for miles.) We were far from New Orleans.
After less than a year, we headed to Baltimore, MD, to Ft. Hollabird.where my husband learned the ropes to be an Intelligence Officer. From there, he did a stint in Vietnam while I attended Youngstown State. After that, it was 9 months or so outside DC while he studied Spanish for his next assignment in Puerto Rico where my son was born. Puerto Rico was a wonderful place to live and we did some island hopping while there.
After two or so glorious years there, I was back in Ohio in Cortland near my folks while Jim was back in Vietnam. When he returned, he was assigned to the Pentagon and we bought a house in Falls Church, VA, where I have lived ever since and where my daughter was born.
