BARBARA LEE GARRETT, died at age 69 unexpectedly at her home in Placerville, CA on March 11, 2011. Barbara graduated from Rocky River High School and earned her undergraduate degree at Hillsdale College and a Masters in Education at Kent State University. She taught in the Cleveland Public Schools from 1963 to 1980. She moved to California in 1980 and continued her teaching career at Deerfield Christian School and in the Placerville public schools until her retirement in 2001.

Barbara bred and showed La Mancha dairy goats throughout northern California; she especially enjoyed mentoring young children in caprine husbandry and seeing their self-confidence and maturity increase along with their skills and responsibilities. Barbara had many friends nationwide in the dairy goat industry and regularly attended national conventions. Her other interests included cooking and crafts.

Barbara is survived by her sister Marjorie A. Garrett of Cleveland, and her brothers, Richard T. Garrett of Cleveland and George M. Garrett of Texas; two nieces Judy Pyke and Jill Stenger of Cleveland, Ann Hodges of Winterwood Farm in California and Linda Shule of Timbercove La Manchas in Oregon as well as her dairy goat family.
