Growing up with Beverly and the other "Kensington" kids was a remarkable expeience. We had great fun at the Drug Store, down at the Rocky River park and Beardens.

A real tear comes to my eye when we learn of the passing of people with whom we attended kindergarden. Jim Lambert Mary Lucas and Beverly Oetting!!

Saw Beverly in Denver the year before I moved here (1995). She was weak from her cancer treatments, but in good spirits. She had a cute little house in a nice section of Denver called North Cherry Creek. She was quite proud of her garden. Bev had been very active in Opera Colorado, serving on the Board. Her best friend was Scott Little, who was a bus driver in Denver. Scott graduated Law school U of Co & had been a very successful lawyer in Phoenix. He got tired of the life & bought a bar in Boulder. I saw Scott many times, he was dealing with HIV and it took quite a toll on him. Beverly died before I moved here. The last time I saw Scott he told me an interesting story about Bev. Bev had given him a geranium plant. It stopped blooming, but he kept it anyway. When Bev died, the plant bloomed. He told this to her daughter, who immediately broke down in tears. Bev's daughter said her mom had told her she would send her a sign that she was ok. I have not been able to contact Scott for many years. He was in bad shape the last time I saw him.

Beverly was the most beautiful girl in grade school. I was too shy to tell her though. We lived one street apart. I stayed shy all through High School. When I got out of the Navy in 1964 I drove to RR to look her up. I knocked on her parents door and they told me she was in Nursing School in Lakewood. So I drove there met her and we went out for a couple of days. When we kissed goodby she has always been in my prayers and thoughts. To think I graduated from Denver University in 1968. And had a house built in Cherry Creek. She will always be in my thoughts as the girl that got away. Love to her memories Peter Fiske. 4/19/2009

I will miss laughing with Bev over times we had when we became friends in high school. One summer we spent two weeks in Ocean City, NJ watching the children of friends of her family. When the wives and children were taking naps in the afternoon, we were free to roam the boardwalk. Lots of laughs. Or, the time we made kilts together, lowered them down to the top of our knee socks, and were still sent home to change because they were too short. I will miss Bev at the reunion, she was such a kind, fun friend.

This note to Beverly is way over due...Beverly and I were best friends for all of our childhood...she was a bridesmaid in my wedding...we graduated from Lutheran Hospital School of Niusing a year apart...she spent 2 years at OSU ...I spent just a year having way way too good of a time...I'll skip discussing my GPA.  But I had a such a good time!  Beverly was married to a Stapleton...her baby girl's name is Piper.  I've always wondered if it was a relationship of the family the Denver  airport was named for.  I live north of Denver in Windsor, CO...an hour from Cheyenne, WO.  It feels like pure luxury to live here...when we hear about the rest of the nation we thank our lucky stars.  If only my sweet  childhood friend was still here to laugh and behave insanely with me again at age 76.  Oh, I loved Beverly...a precious soul.  Beverly loved Bill Koenig...I knew...I wonder if he knew.  Yikes, but this is an interesting age, 76, ..I still feel 12 years old ...impetuous, free spirited, too talkative and way too in love with life and curiously interesting people...my husband of 53 years is on the downhill slope with Parkinson's Disease but we're still on our skis.  xxxx, I love you, my precious friend, Beverly Oetting Stapleton...I pray you are peaceful and I look forward to reuniting.  Lynn
