So sad to learn of his passing ! He sat behind me in homeroom and was always a good "pal" with a great sense of humor ! What good memories came rushing forward.
Randy was my best friend in high school. Our greatest memory was our hitchhiking trip to California between junior and senior years, and all the amazing wonderful people we met along the way. What a different time that was. You could never do that today. Our paths went in different directions after high school, so I didn’t see as much of him after that. He and Gordy Gray (also passed on) went to Viet Nam together as infantrymen, and I managed a deferment, which I almost (but not quite) feel guilty about. But we managed to get together a couple times and made phone contact periodically. He was handed a pretty tough life, first with his son Justin’s severe long term disability until his death, and then the loss of his sweet wife Ann at far too young an age. Randy never once gave the slightest hint of complaint or self pity about his trials and tribulations, including his own illness toward the end. I will never forget my best buddy. Randy was one of a kind, and I am a better person for knowing him.
To honor and remember Randy, the family will be hosting a Celebration of Life. The details are:

Izaak Walton League Lodge
The Izaak Walton League is located at 5703 Brown Road, Oxford, Ohio 45056. This is a rural road, so keep an eye out for the “Izaak Walton League” sign marking the entrance. Upon arrival, you will drive down a short lane to arrive at the Lodge. Parking will be in the gravel lot and along the lane.
The celebration will be “Open House” style, so please come anytime during the event and stay as long as you’d like. There will be plenty of food and drinks to be enjoyed.
