ROSALIE MARIE "COOKIE" ZEIN
(September 30, 1946 - September 28, 2010)

ROSALIE MARIE “COOKIE” ZEIN (nee Santalucia), R.N. Cookie was born September 30, 1946 in Cleveland, Ohio to Rose and Vincenzo Santalucia. She passed on September 28, 2010. Cookie was a devoted wife, proud mother of two and doting “nana” of four. She was the matriarch of her extended family, and a bridge between generations all of whom sought her guidance and strength. She was always willing to do anything and everything for those she loved. Cookie was very dedicated to her nursing career, spending over twenty years as a Registered Nurse at Fairview Hospital in Cleveland. She was a life-long advocate and supporter of the nursing profession. Cookie loved to travel and was very grateful that her husband showed her the world. All who knew her will miss her zest for life, guidance and her capacity to love. Mrs. Zein is survived by her husband, Nazih M. Zein, M.D.; mother, Rose M. Santalucia (nee Consolo); brother, Vincent R. Santalucia; sister, Josephine Espisito, Brea, CA; daughter, Holly Marie Wilson (Ryan); son, John V. Vandenberg (Amy); grandchildren, Nathan C. Vandenberg; niece, Leah Santalucia; aunts; uncle, Carmelo Frank Consolo; many cousins, especially her “sister cousin,” Louise Patterson (Bill); beloved forever friends, Rozanne and Roger Hall, M.D. and family, Medford, OR; and many other family members and dear friends. Her father, Vincenzo Santalucia, and brother, Joseph Santalucia, preceded her in death. A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday October 1, 2010 at St. Christopher Church, 20141 Detroit Ave., Rocky River. Please meet at Church. Private Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. FRIENDS RECEIVED FROM 2-5 and 7-9 THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 30, 2010 AT THE ZEIS-McGREEVEY FUNERAL HOME, 16105 DETROIT AVE.

Thanks for finding Rosalie's obituary, Jeff. Sounds like she had a full life yet gone too soon.

As upbeat, fun, and laughing as Rosalie was in school, I imagine she brought great comfort and care to her many hospital patients during her career.

I parrot Pat's comments; Rosalie was very upbeat. We shared many homerooms together, and our Italian heritage. Yet another gone way too soon.
