Scotty, good to hear from you.  Congratulations to Avery on her excellence.  Arlene may be right - we'll be rooting for Avery in the Olympics in about 4 years.  As to your own #1 ranking - is that for  South Carolina or nationally?  Is there an age bracket to consider?  We are all curious to know what your training regimen is.  How often do you "work out"?  Any of it based on a specific diet?  Do you have a personal trainer or are you "home schooled" in this field?

A Happy Birthday to Kathy Kehoe, artist extraordinaire.  You always were so upbeat and positive with a kind word for everyone.  I hope life is as good to you as you were to us.  Are you full time in Estoro or are you a couple with multiple residences?

Happy birthday to all who are moving forward to another Covid counted birthday ! I say we all get an extra two years!!!!!  I've been shot twice , so good to go, didn't feel a thing or any side effects think I got the placebo....And good to get family off my back!  Mary Ann, the stages of grieving don't seem to follow any rule but I PROMISE you will in time come to remember your Bob when he was at his very best and you will be so much at peace and have only beautiful memories but we have to go through and get through the process !  Not easy but a necessary journey.

A happy Birthdaqy to Mary Strauss, everyone's favorite pixie.  We're looking forward to seeing you this August at the Reunion/Golf gathering.  Scotty, we marvel at your talent.  Judy, (Up so late.) so well put.  The rest of us can make efforts to console and comfort which are mosty ineffective, but coming from someone who has gone through that heartwrenching process can reach the heart.  I hope it reaches your heart, Mary Ann.  You are one of the good guys.  A Merry Unbirthday to the rest of us.

Marianne ... just a suggestion or two ... so Bob indicated a few things that bothered him about you, big deal, nobody is perfect ... the fact that he noticed a "few things" and "never" mentioned them before suggests to me that he loved the daylights out of you, and didn't think it was worth it to mention a "flaw or two" that bothered him in lieu of hurting your feelings, a rather wonderful trait for a husband to have ... don't be so hard on yourself  ...  Bob sounds like a class act whose mom probably said "treat that girl right, you're lucky to have her" ...

Emotions run SO high with the loss of a loved one ... you are strong and will get through it ... just don't let a few negatives be the top thing on your mind and how you forever remember him ...

When I think of what you went through the last six, or so, months of 2020 it would seem life's negatives were overwhelming ... I'm sorry this happened to someone that I have a great deal of respect for and know to be "a real SPARK " to her community ... "as we used to say at SHS, knockers up ole bean" ... wink

Happy Birthday Lucia, Miss Homemaker, thank you so much for setting this Forum up and for all you do to keep us in contact with one another.  You also give quite an impression of Mrs. DeClerq.

Lorrie - your insightful message to Mary Ann is expressed so wonderfully well.  Awesome!!

After all those seemingly endless days of winter, we finally see the "light" of the sun again.  We can look forward to the new adventures that our families will bring us and be reminded of the good times from yesteryear.

I feel very fortunite to have been around so many good people who helped me get past the last 75 years.  Their advice, wisdom, experiences, and when necessary critisism  got me this far.  I look forward to many more good days, but also know I have to get through the tough times as well.  A very good friend one told me,"You just have to keep going".

Sometimes, a few words get spoken that just seem to turn the lights out.  It hurts deeply, but I finally realized that I had to look out the window and see the decades of sunshine that we shared.  I had to feel the cool breeze on a hot day that said - It will get better.  I like to think that I am still paying off my debt to all those good people who helped me.

The Lord looked down here years ago and thought, "I need someone there to be the gate keeper of the land".

Lo and behold Lucia appeared  and was born this day.

We and I would like to wish you a Happy Birthday and many more to come. The light of our forum and the best of the best. March 14 is better for your day.

Enjoy, and you of all people deserve the biggest and bestest cake with your ice cream.

Mary Ann I have a rescue pup, Miss Morgan and we do everything together. She is of great comfort I got her when she was a couple months old. Now she is six, she gives me the Catholic guilt look when I leave without her she is the best.

Happy Birthday, Rob, our musical guru.  It's already the 16th where you are, but I hope you were able to take your bouzouki to your favorite pub and  enjoy playing with "the lads".  I never thought that the Ides of March were so bad unless your "friends" were packing daggers.  Never heard of "Pi Day" Judy but I won't forget it.  Happy St. Patrick's Day to one and all, Irish or otherwise.

Mike, Since last March, the pubs in Ireland have been shuttered except for two weeks last fall. Rough on the publicans, but also devistating to the population. The pubs and trad music are the life blood of Irish culture. So I stayed at home and finished writing a couple of new tunes for when we get back together, and of course played a dozen of my favorites followed by some homeade Guinness stew. Two birthdays in lock-down. Whew!

A saying I hear most often here when I ask someone how they are keeping: "Well, I'm above ground, so...  not too bad!"

03/16/21 08:14 AM #3188

Lucia Lenhard (Johnson)

Above ground, indeed Rob, and grateful to birthday well wishers!  Thanks to each and all!  My old (British) mother in law used to say “taking nourishment” when asked how she was.

How is everyone coming along with vaccinations?
