I figured that all of us snowbirds (or former snowbirds) could use a good chuckle.  UP TO  an entire inch of snow  is expected early Sunday morning!!!  Disaster awaits!!!  I went to the local Food Lion (Kroger's) to find that milk, batteries, bread and , of course, beer supplies are very low.  Sunday, late morning, there will be light rain and temperatures approaching 40.  Monday's high is predicted to be 44 degrees.  The snow should be gone by 2:00 Sunday afternoon.  Of course, we should all pray for Scottie - 2 inches is predicted for his neck of the woods.

Mike,

We had very similiar reactions when we lived in New Jersey.  The stores were so cleaned out, it took a week to recover and get items back on the shelves.  People would call the GM Training Center where I worked to see if we were going to be open the next day since "it might snow".  In your case you are lucky, Monday is a holiday so you will have time to recover.

My youngest daughter moved from Chicago to Nashville in August because she could not take winters anymore.  So far, she has had two separate snow days which closed down everything.  I told her don't bother driving anywhere because she would be the only one out there who would know how to drive in the snow and she would have to be on high alert for the crazies!!

Janet Samida, I hope that you're birthday is as terrific as can be, of course, you needn't be concerned about a little snow down in Florida, so I'm sure that's one potential disaster off your mind.  We haven't heard from you - are you still tuned in?  You were always such a pleasant lady, good to have around.

Scottie, have a birthday as terrific as your off the wall sense of humor.  I hope that you have completely recuperated from all that ailed you, and that your all star gymnastic grand daughters spend the day with you.  Looking forward to seeing you on the links in August, unless you venture over here to Pinehurst in the interim.  You'll always be welcome, we do have a course or two her worth the trip.  Merry Unbirthday to the rest of us.

Hope all is well with you, I think we all have those troubeling pains and as long as we're still taking in air, we will put up with them.

Enjoy your special day with the family and make darn sure the cake and ice cream flow freely.

Take care and stay safe.

I read that Loretta Bischof will be celebrating her birthday tomorrow, thought I would share a memory from YEARS ago, make that about 67! I was invited to her birthday party 🥳

If memory serves me well she lived across the street from Alvina Pineau ( I cried when not in her class in 3rd grade) and Margaret Kennedy lived on the corner, Webster and ?

Loretta's Mom had a tray with 10 or so objects on it, covered with a dish towel. we had a few seconds to view the objects  and then tried to remember and write the names on paper. I LOVED THAT GAME. Think my memory helped in spelling and times tables , NOT SO MUCH IN HISTORY!😳

Oh the fun, simple childhood we shared was so very special ❤️

Loretta have a wonderful birthday tomorrow, so hoping you can join us for the 50+9 in August.

xoxo Mary Jo Vander Plas Huntington

Mary Jo ... bet ya' can't remember what you had for dinner Tuesday ... wink

Happy Birthday, Loretta - your smile usually made me think that you were up to something, perhaps your delightful creativity derived from your Mom's.  It would be good to see you this August when we gather for our mini-reunion.  Can you name 3 of the objects under the dish towel?  Can you Mary Jo?  Can you name 3 things you had for dinner on Tuesday?  How about you, Lorrie?  For me, I can say for sure that one of mine was chocolate.

Happy Birthday to Loretta,

Sounds like you have shaken memories of the past and they sounded like fun.

Maybe those who were at your party will now remember more and we can hear about them.

One thing I would bet you all had cake and ice cream. Here's wishing you the best and be sure you relive the memory of that cake and ice cream.

Happy Birthday Jayne Scanlon!!  You're still a heroine to me for saving me from Sister Elizabeth Louise, even though you don't remember it.  I hope you have serenity and joy in your heart.  We'd like to see you this August for our mini Reunion, You're not far away and perhaps you could bring Bonnie along, we'd like to see her, too.  Mary Jo, we had a nun at LaSalette who oftentimes had a sewing thimble on her middle finger and when she gave you the finger (Across the top of the head, of course!!), she got your attention.  Mary Ann Shirk, how're you doing?  We hope that your effervescent smile is back in place and that you're sharing it with everyone.

OB, keep up the good wishes (that you are SO good at) ... Mike, keep inviting people to join the outing, even if they've NEVER SEEN A GOLF COURSE ... to my classmates ... I bet there is no other class in Shrine history to have this eternal bond surprise ... (seriously, Lucia, thanx for this blog) ... Luv you guys (yes, I've had wine) wink

Lorrie,

Thank you for the kind words and no matter how much wine you consume just skip the cake and ice cream unless you pour the wine over both.

Another happy meal.

Tom ... who, on earth, would destroy a perfectly good glass of Pinot Grigio by pouring it on some 2 trillion calorie cake and ice cream thingy ... indecision ...  get a grip toots ! (So, OK, I've had some wine wink) ... bye guys heart

Okay, Okay. When I hit Submit, I knew I was in deep do,do.

I blame the cup of decaf I had that messed up my mind, (more than normal).

Do not mix that wine with any cake and ice cream for anything. Straight is the way to go.

Tonight, at Scotch time I will think of you and salute the winers out there. (don't take that the wrong way.

Yes, I agree, Lucia has done a wonderful job for all of us to keep our Shrine memories alive and growing with the people who have a lot to do with our growing up. These trips down memory lane bring back thoughts of fun and exciting times. Love and kisses to the past and keep the future a brighter place to get to.

Tom ... thanx for showing respect to the vintage ... (I, on the other hand, LOST my self respect to the "vintage" like, an hour and a half ago) ... yeah, I know it's early, but my bedtime just smacks me a little earlier these days ... wink

Lorrie,

I would like to turn in about 8:00pm but have to wait till 11pm to get our daughter to bed then. Up at 7 and not ready to go till about noon. The old saying I don't get up till the crack of noon.

Glad the wine doesn't go to your head, Stay sweet and keep smiling, (people will never know what your smiling at, keep them guessing).

And by the way, we really don't need to know about your bedtime smacks.
