Happy Birthday David

I you or anyone else is out this way again, be sure to let me know and we can meet for lunch at the beach.

Enjoy the day

Thanks for the Birthday wishes.  To be honest, I hardly feel a day over 78.  One of my birthday wishes is to have many more.  Last Tuesday, Barbara and I tested negative for Covid 19.  Just in time to celebrate, which will probably go on for another few days.  We were lucky and did not have severe issues, just a cough, head congestion, and lack of energy.

Tom, we both fondly remember our visit.  The fields of flowers you told us about were spectacular.  We may be in for another trip to San Diego in the not to distant future.  Our daughter, Tracy, has accepted a position at the San Diego Zoo, and will be moving out there in June.  I am sure that there will probably be some travel plans when she gets settled in.

Dave, glad that you and Barbara are extending the birthday celebration, we should all be so wise. Glad that you've both passed the Covid test, of course it could have been worse if either one of you had been pregnant.  See you this August for the Reunion.

Mike, I like your thought of Dave and Barbara not being pregnant

It reminds me of the joke of the 90 year old guy and the 87 year old woman that got married and were looking for a house near a school.

OB, strange that you would come up with that well-circulated joke.  My uncle got married about a year and a half ago.  He was 96 and she was not too far behind.  My cousin sent me some of the wedding pictures.  This one's nice.  This one's cute.  Then came the picture of kissing the bride.  MAMA MIA!!!  This wasn't a "peck", more like a couple of very enthusiastic teenagers.  YOIKS!!!  For the rest of us - don't forget to tell your spouses that you love them.  And a kiss wouldn't hurt either.

The happiest of birthdays to Mary Jo and Merieda.  I recall my first class at Shrine, Latin 101, and you greeted me, welcoming me to Shrine, Marieda, with your warm smile.  I hope your day is enhanced by those you love and activities you enjoy.  We hope to have you add to the ambiance at our 60 Year Reunion this August.  I wish you the best birthday you can have, Mary Jo, Madame Vice President.  You always seemed so quiet, yet your smile had a mischievous look to it.  i hope your day is as pleasant as you are.  Looking forward to seeing you and Bill this August.

Sadly, I received news that Tom Scott passed away on May 8, 2023.  He was incredibly funny, loved hockey, his son, daughter, the "girly girls" and his grandson.  Semper Fi, Tom!  We will miss seeing you at the reunion.  Send us a sign when you join us!! (Maybe a hockey puck from heaven wink) We'll be watching for it!!

Not sure if this will work, but here is a link to the page posted on FaceBook:

Really sorry to hear about Tom Scott.

Each time a message like this comes up it really makes you think how fragile we all are.

Prayers for the family and we all need to stay strong.

That hockey team up there must be ready to take on all comers.

Scotty always had that impish look in his eyes as though he had seen some humor in whatever was going on.  He also was the inventor of "comb hockey".  Hope he gets full credit for it.  Well said, Arlene - Semper Fi!!

So sorry to hear about Tom.  Mike Young and I have been working on gathering classmate information for upcoming 60th.  We have talked about "Scotty" several times.  Knew he was ill.  He was a great guy.  Thanks, Arlene for info.

Agree with O'B's statement.

To all, I heard that Tom Scott moved on to another adventure, he was one of my besties in High school  as his birthday was 2 days after mine.  He had a great sense of humor.  We were in Bio's class (remember her) disecting the frogs and we were supposed to be putting labels on the organs, when I looked at Scotty's frog he had put 29 cents a pound on the lungs and different prices on the other organs. I cracked up and Bio caught us and saw what he did and was hitting him (more like feather strikes) and Scottty just looked at me and we both starting laughing and Bio just walked away.

I spoke to him last year after he moved to Charlotte He will be missed.

God Bless

Tom Hughes

Tom, thanks for sharing that story about Scotty and Sister Bio.  That is so Scotty, and I can see him smiling.  I'll still be laughing at that next Tuesday.  Who could forget Sister Bio and her "that'll do!!"?

Dear Friends,

With broken hearts, that Barbara and  I must tell you that on May 9th, our beloved daughter, Janice Marie, passed from this world.  It is difficult to find words.  We do not know what happened.  I called her on Sunday night and she sounded good.  We talked about her weekend, future things that were planned andjust other stuff.  She did not go to work Monday morning and we contacted the apartment manager to check on her.  That is how we found out.

This past week is a blur.  Barbara and I, along with our other two daughters Wendy and Tracy, forced our selves to , as Janice had instruced us in a letter "Do your best".  I know af several times when she stepped in to help me keep going.

Her service was yesterday.  Well over 100 family, friends, coworkers, neighbors and others were there.  In her 43 years she touched hundreds with her kindness and caring.  I am sorry I just cannot do more now.  Please look at her obituary on the Gramer Funeral Home, in Shelby twp, MI site to learn more about our wonderful daughter.  She will live with us forever.

Barbara and I want to thank all of you for your prayers and support during this most trying time.  From what people have told us and the stories they have they have relayed to us we have seen a whole new side of Janice.  We knew that she was a very caring and generous person but had no idea of how many lives she touched and  things she went out of her way to do for people.

We have heard things she did from her early childhood all the way throughout her life.  We will always treasure those rememberances.  A kind word or a helping hand can change another persons life.  We were truly blessed.

Again, we thank you all and look forward to seeing everyone in August.

Dave and Babara
