Dave,

I wanted to reply about your upcoming surgery till now.

As we used to say in the military, 3 days in the wake-up.

It's been 36 years since I had mine and I remember it very clearly.(I don't remember what I did yesterday) but I remember September 1987.

You will, also but after the fact. Please keep in mind it is going to be harder on Barbara because you will be asleep, she will be waiting for the results.

When you're finished and wake up, if you're like me, you realize as tough as you always thought you were, you weren't. God is still the toughest and you will have learned humility.

A number of people have gone through this procedure and as I was told, if you have a good outlook on the procedure you will come out fine.

Keep these things in mind.  1. Avoid potholes while in the car, you will feel the bump, when you start playing golf again, be sure to hit the ball first and not the ground, you will feel that bump and stand up straight. The pulling of the incision will make you slouch.

Best of luck and welcome to the club buddy, I'll be thinking of you Wednesday.

Dave,

I am thinking of you and saying prayers for a successful surgery this Tuesday.  Prayers for Barbara too.  I hope you can feel the support you have from your Shrine classmates.

Hugs, Janet

These past few months have been hard on all the family.  Hearing from so many friends and associates has been such a GIGANTIC help.  It seems like each of our problems has always had some added glitch that just makes it a little harder.

Well, guess what.  Last Friday afternoon, the surgeons office called and told me that due to a very large number of emergency cases they had to reschedule many procedure.  The prolonged hot weather has triggered so many problems that the cardiac section of the hospital was going to have to work all weekend and into next week on these cases.  BUMMER FOR US, but at the same time if it were me in need, I sure would want to get the help I needed.

FYI- When we talked, Chris Frye told me that I was cheating.  Instead of having a huge incision and long recovery, I am going to have a minimal invasive surgery.  They told me it would be six small holes in my chest and they would be able to do everything through those holes.  Only 4 to 7 days in the hospital, 1 month recovery and light duty at home, and 1 month of physical therapy.  fortunately, I believe I got the right surgeon who is giving me a very good option.  I will find out sometime next week about the new date.

When I know what is happening I will let you know.

Dave

Dave and Barbara,

I don't post often.  However Dave  ,you are  a part of us.   Whether we were close friends in our small school or not -- we knew you. and you impacted our lives.  When we offer our prayers or  good thoughts, please know it is not just words.  We do remember.  We love you in a way not quite explainable, but  you are a part of who we became.  Whenever your surgery is, know we are with you and your family  ( sone of us are angels now )  we will be watching and praying for you all.  God bless . And thank you. You gave us much in the years we knew you.

Dave, we all hope that your surgery goes well, and we want to have the happy update posthaste.  We hope that Barbara is handling the accompanying stress.  My surgeon told me that he coud make my scar look like a duelling scar - he didn't.  Perhaps you'll come out better.

Fred, glad that you'll be present at our Reunion in person rather than lurking.

Kathy, your insights and sensitivity are so well expressed, we're glad that you are speaking so well for us all.  You should share your thoughts, opinions and feelings much more often.

There was a reason I waited this long to have my blockages show up.  The surgeon I have does the minimal invasive procedure.  He told me that I will have 6 small holes in my chest and they can do everything through them.  The after procedure stay in the hospital should be 4 to 7 days.  I will have about a month at home to heal, then about a month of physical therapy.

I got very lucky with my surgeon.  He is one of the doctors in the area that does this type of surgery.  This sounds like it is going to be so much easier than the old style surgery.  When we found this out, it sure helped us to prepare for what is to come.  No call yet so I still do not have a date.  The waiting and this hot weather are getting old.  I will keep you posted.

Dave

Happy Birthday, Janet!!  Looking forward to continue celebrating with you at the reunion.  At our age, birthdays should be celebrated all month (minimally!).

So sorry to hear about Philip.  I am sure all of us has faced the inevatable sorrow that comes each time we hear about a passing. While we know it is going to happen, it seems like each one gets a little harder.  God rest your soul Philip.

I am sorry that I will not be able to attend his service, and I must also miss the coming reunion as my surgery has been rescheduled for August 15, 2023.  This date has a very special meaning to our family.  It is our daughter Janice's 44th birthday.  It is my prayer that I can live many more years to help carry out her dreams and wishes.

Bless you all and stay safe.

Dave

Dave,

A quick shout.

Best for next Tuesday. Prayers will be coming in for you and I know as grumpy and ornery as you are, all will go well. You may be the only one at the 100th reunion.

Barb, take a book or computer with you to help the time go by faster.

Prayers and the best.

Thanks Tom.  This little delay just pushed my schedule back a few months.  We have a lot to due, and I plan on getting back to it soon.

Robert Radofski (Sullivan)

Because I joined the class of '63 in my Sophmore year, I wasn't able to get as close to every one as I would have liked. But I will always cherish watching you all dance at the sock hops while I played with John and Robert Franco and Joe Balerini up in the corner of the gymn.

Dave, best of luck on the 15th, I'll be praying with the rest of the class for your quick return to your family and friends and former classmates.

At the reunion, please take many pictures like last year so those of us unable to attend can all see how much fun you will have without us. May you all have the best "craic" that can be had in the good old USA. We will be envious beyond belief.

Rob

Janet,

I really didn't mean a shabby day. It was meant to say a happy day.

It must have been my 5th-grade spelling teacher
