Clunie is already booked that night but is free Sunday the 30th. If someone wants to book it, the permits are here: http://www.cityofsacramento.org/parksandrecreation/parks/permits/index.html

Melissa--I agree a restaurant would be too impersonal. If someone is willing to offer his/her home then that would take away a lot of pressure of the event site cost.

For Clunie--Sunday, the 30th might not be bad, but people might be traveling back home at that time; worth looking into.

(The only reason I'm so concerned about the cost of the event site is that it will require substantial upfront cost that may/may not get taken care of--depending on if enough people buy tickets/donate money/whatever...but maybe it won't be a problem!)

It would be awesome if we could do it on the 15th of November. I will not be attending if it is on the 8th of November. I actually like the idea of the back yard. It's really not that cold until it gets closer to December. It's pretty much just sweater weather. It would be cheaper and we could totally have a pot luck. I unfortunately do not have a backyard, otherwise I would totally volunteer.

Hey, Melissa!
I like the commons or backyard ideas....I really want to push forward with that. It would minimize cost (my main headache) and we could really get started on firm planning!!!

I think, given the survey responses so far (and accounting for the lack of responses), the 29th might be the best overall option, given the fact that more out-of-towners like me will be there....

I would really like to get the ball rolling in selling tickets/raising money ASAP so we could start looking at food, music, souvenirs, decorations, etc.

**SO, Melissa, can you get back to me whenever you hear from the person about the commons? (Also, I think those that want to help in the planning should get together in the chat room in the near future. Most of you are on the west coast, so I'm 3 hours ahead of you, but we can make it work!

Just a question: Are you guys looking for a venue that will allow Alcohol?

07/16/08 01:30 PM #22

Melissa Brown (Beacham)

The alcohol decision depends on the location of the event.

Anita Del Toro (Palomino)

I am not sure if you have a type of a location but at my job I might be able to get the gymnasium to have the reunion and it would be at no charge. The only thing is that we cannot have any alcohol. It can hold up to 300 people but limited sitting. It may be an option and it can be explored if interested.

yea i've been there lets see what talaina says. cause if we do cattlemans the tickets would have 2 be at least 25 bucks...not including personal liquor. on the flip side we wouldnt have 2 clean up

Ok, I'll have a formal, put-together announcement tomorrow. Thank you ALL again for your hard work. Anita, can you please e-mail me? I wanted to ask you something regarding the information you mentioned in your post.

I voted for Nov 8 or Nov 15 because I'm getting married on Nov 1st and will be on my honeymoon Nov 21-Dec 6. I will be out of state on Nov 29 so I won't be able to attend but I hope you guys have a blast! Maybe I'll make it to the 15 or 20 year reunion.

I'll still make a donation to try to help with costs.

It's great to see what everybody's been up to the last 10 years!

Awww.....Ben! Really wanted to see you and kiowa. Congratulations though. Your making an important step in your life. We will see you at the 15th and let you know how the 10th went. Everyone seems really excited and I hope we have as much fun as you will. hehehe....Update us.

"How do you think we can find the rest of class 98? Should we invest in peoplefinders?
There are also friends i have not spoke to in years! Does anyone have a year book? And do you think it would be necessary to do peoplefinders? Just an idea. It cost $39.95 unlimited for 30 days!

I have a yearbook; I think taking out an ad in the paper would be nice. Also, we can contact Sac High (or whatever it's called) because the lady said they can announce that we're having it. I'm sorry, but I haven't been in Cali in like 8 years so I don't know what people usually come across as far as news media...

k - I dont know if you guys remember the yellow sheets we filled out when we got out of school BUT I contacted Sac City Unified and am looking into getting those addresses.

If you have addresses of people who aren't on the site email them to Talaina and maybe we could send formal invitations out. Many parents have not moved out of their homes. Then we could cover everyone. What do you guys think?

I am also tracking down the finances AND old yearbooks.

This may be a bit oldfashioned, but I was thinking of putting up flyers.I am always running into people in stores. So maybe we can create a generic flyer that says SAC HIGH CLASS OF 98 REUNION with tabs at the end with the web address and if everyone posted it in their neighborhood grocery stores or nearest Walmart we could reach more of our classmates. Just a thought.

No, that's PERFECT!!! If you'd like to head up this task, please feel free to use the info lines that I sent in this week's e-mail (just keeps things consistent). It's perfect, really! (You may want to do that little tag thing so that they can tear off the website/email info)

If you guys have myspace accounts it may help reach out to people to send a bulletin out to Sac High alumni of 1998 and it would be free. Just a thought.

I have an account but I don't have time to check it as often as other people. However, there are tons of Sac High people that I know are on there all the time.

i dont remember where I saw this, but I think it would be very cool for you to dedicate the reunion to Abdul. He would be outshining us all right now if he was here.

Check the Sac Bee Sept 4th were making headlines AND history :) Anyway, I was able to get a hold of the yearbooks, though they WILL NOT release them. I was able get some great surprises for everyone because of this.

Its been exciting sifting through all the old memories and how much we changed through the years. It should be a fun simple gathering :) Considering how quick Talaina put this together!

ALSO if anyone owns all four yearbooks please contact Talaina. We would like to have them on hand at the reunion.
