In Memory

Barbara Anderson (Fletcher)

Barbara Anderson (Fletcher)

It is with much sadness that Barbara Anderson Fletcher passed away on February 17, shortly after turning 77. She had suffered from a painful and debilitating back and neck illness that affected her mobility for much of her adult life. She did not let the pain stop her from achieving a successful career in Roseville, CA. Barbara was predeceased by her older sister, and leaves her beloved son and daughter and two loving granddaughters. Barbara was a lifelong friend of 72 years since we met in kindergarten at Bret Harte School. We went on to share many more experiences full of fun and laughter at Cal Junior High and at McClatchy High. Barbara and I stayed in contact after she left for Chico State and for all the years thereafter. The last time I saw Barbara was at our joint 65th birthday celebration. She was as radiant and beautiful as ever, smiling and laughing with “girlfriends." Barbara passed away peacefully and privately just as she had lived her life, but now free from physical pain. Sad news. Anytime one of the McClatchy clan passes away, we are reminded of our own mortality, especially with all the chaos involved with the coronavirus mess. I used to visit her several times over the years but lost touch when she moved from Roseville.

Obviously many classmates have good memories of her, as do I. She will certainly be missed. Prayers to family and close friends.

I remember Barbara from Bret Harte and McClatchy. I admired her for her warm personality and beautiful eyes. Passing away at such a time when life is so precious saddens me more as as time goes on we realize how much time is left for any of us. If anything I'm glad she is out of pain

My dear, dear friend from Kindergarten, beautiful Barbara.  Our friendship was special all the way through our old age.  We had so much fun celebrating our 65th birthday with our group of girlfriends.  It broke my heart that you suffered so much physical pain most of your adult life.  Thankfully, you had the love nd support of your family and friends.  We are all the better for knowing you and admired your courage and perseverence.  God bless you.  Love, Carol Misterly Boice
