Very saddened to hear the news about Ron's passing, I wondered why his name suddenly dropped off the last update list of expected attendees for the recent 65th reunion luncheon, he had told me last spring he planned to attend and we looked forward to seeing each other again (I ended up not being able to attend the luncheon either as it turned out). Ron was one of my best friends thru junior high at Joaquin Miller and McClatchy. He lived near me in the Hollywood Park neighborhood. I can't remember now whether we were in grade school together at Ethel Phillips Elementary School near Franklin Blvd and Fruitridge Rd but I think not. Ron did not attend any of the McClatchy reunions but out of the blue he contacted me about 10 years ago, he lived in Elk Grove, like me he was a fan of vegetarian/vegan food and we got together a number times for lunch in the Elk Grove/Folsom areas. Ron was still the quiet but friendly, smart, funny guy I remembered from our school days. I was surprised about 4-5 years ago when he told me he and his wife were moving back to his ancestral area of Arkansas, we had one final lunch but remained in occasional touch via email. He never mentioned anything about health issues. Ron is always one of the people that pop into my head when I think of my childhood days, I'll miss him. Godspeed, Ron.
