Betty Wong (Seto)

From Sacramento Bee:

Betty Wong Seto, beloved wife, mother, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 71, on January 17, 2014 at her home in El Dorado Hills, after her valiant fight with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease).

Betty was born September 23, 1942, in Penryn, CA to Gim and Lee Shee Wong and was the youngest of 10 children. Betty spent her childhood on the farm in Penryn and later moved to Sacramento. She graduated from McClatchy High School in Sacramento in 1960.

Working in the family business, Bel Air Markets, she began at the age of 13 and continued working for Bel Air/Raley's in the payroll department until her retirement 57 years later in 2012. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, shopping, and putting personal touches to her home that reflected her flair for elegance and beauty.

Betty had a truly generous, happy and giving spirit that touched the lives of all she met. Always a "people person, "Betty loved to entertain and host parties. An excellent cook and consummate hostess, she made sure that "everything" was just right and all were comfortable and enjoyed themselves. Truly, a most kind and selfless person, Betty devoted much of her time helping others.

She always regretted not continuing on with her education, but her wisdom was beyond book knowledge as so many sought her counsel and advice. Betty was adored by all who knew her and we have greatly benefitted by her presence, her smile, her genuine goodness and love.

Betty was predeceased by her parents and brothers: Raney, Bill and George Wong. Betty is survived and will be greatly missed by: her husband and companion of 35 years, Henry Look; son, Perry Seto (Chieko); daughter, Deborah Arnold (Clayeo); sisters, Lillie Fong, Evelyn Foon, Nellie Go; brothers Gene Wong, Albert Wong, Paul Wong; and many loving nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made in memory of Betty to the ALS Association- Sacramento Chapter, 2717 Cottage Way Ste. 17, Sacramento, CA 95825 or at alssac.org.
