Carla was always a type "A" personality - she consistently beat me at the piano recital, Luther League and confimation class. She was fun - she was an only child. I heard she became a cardiac nurse. I'm sorry she won't be at the reunion and I'm also sorry that she died so young. How difficult for her parents...

I barely knew Carla in High School and remembered her as a quiet girl. In 1983, I walked into a job interview and there sat Carla.
She hired me to work for her at Kaiser and she was my boss for 3 or 4 years.
She was a great administrator, and she moved up thru the ranks to manage a group of Kaiser Medical Offices.
Carla had gotten married, her last name was Johnson and they had decided to not have kids.
I remember asking her if she would be going to our 20th year reunion, and she told me 'No', she just didn't like being that social.
Carla's death was totally unexpected, I heard that it was due to complications following surgery.
Everyone loved her at Kaiser.

I was fairly close to Carla in high school and I remember training for Saxonettes together. We went to the UofO together until she went on to nursing school. Steve is right. Carla did indeed quickly move up the nursing administration ranks at Kaiser, even teaching other nurses. She and her husband took in some foster children, though had none of their own. I went to her funeral with Linda Letterman Strickland. She died quite unexpectedly of an aneurysm. She spent time in the hospital, went home, knew she was still unwell and died walking to the ambulance. She was a lively, giving person, once you worked your way through the shyness. I remember her quiet laugh. She touched many lives.
